Push Mowers Buying Guide
Our buying guide will explain which type of push mower would suit you most, how much you can expect to pay for one, and which features are worth looking out for.
cracked fuel tank
Used it for 1/2 hour. Realised it was rubbish and put in garden shed. Pulled out old Masport. Still starts first pull after 20 years. Went to giveaway to pensioner. Filled with fuel to test. Fuel poured through crack in lower tank. Absolute trash good for landfill only. The people who sell these products do not supply spare part back up.

Rubbish product
Took a while to arrive but it worked first go although it revved very high and the self-propel operated much faster than walking pace. I tried to adjust and it made some difference but not enough. 2nd time I started it also worked okay. 3rd time it did not want to start but eventually it did after trying for about an hour and cleaning the spark plug, etc. 4th time it was dead and nothing would get it going. Now it is a dead brick that can't be used. I went out and got a new brand lawn mower after that which works first time every time. These Black Eagles are rubbish. You get what you pay for I guess. Low price = rubbish product.

Spot on.
Works well, no such dramas as people are saying. Like after 12 mnths a cable needed adjusting! Its called maintenance!! No prob starting hot or cold. Needed NO tinkering to get running, put oil and fuel in and off it went. As for rattle guns used for rocker torque, not true at all. I must just be lucky, many years of cheap engines and had less probs/expense than any brand name.

Know better, choose better.
Perfect for those who are handy and are budget minded.
I feel that these Chinese engines are better than the main competitor from the USA, they use proper ISO fasteners.
I find you have to spend some time tinkering before you use these as they must set the valve clearances with a rattle gun, they always have to be backed up a tad before using else the motor with be naughty once it gets hot, however that's pretty well the only issue, BTW for those inclined to wield a spanner (which should be anybody who buys one) adjusting the valves uses a number 10 and a number 14 (maybe 17?) but you'll break som...Read more

Good lawnmower for the money but needs a spares market
Nice powerful lawnmower for very good price. It is by far the easiest mower to start when cold, but once warmed up, it cannot be re-started - you have to wait an hour for it to cool down. This results in forcing you to tie the safety lever to keep it running if you want to be able to go to the toilet or something and be able to immediately continue mowing when you get back.
I did not know the grass builds up in the self propelled mechanism and eventually breaks the belt. Probably regular maintenance would avoid that problem! lol

buying a new belt or blades, good luck! I am just going to have to buy the most similar from other brand.... But one thing i noticed, the blades are longer than the common ones you see in the hardware store - that means wider cutting circle - that means less mowing for wider area - that means its better than all those other common brands!Similar opinion? I am very happy with this mower. It was a great price and delivery online store free to me. The self prepelled power is excellent . all i do is just walk with it. i mow a quarter acre area of low weeds. The power is great and does not stall easy.

Good mower can't say the same about after sales care
Have had this mower since 2015 and had no problems mechanically so far but the back wheel has come off and so far trying to get a replacement has been terrible. Would be nice if they answered their emails once in a while. The mower has been going like a champion and I have had no problems with it other than the back wheel. The only thing I can complain about is the after sales care as there is none.

Shocker.
I got one the other week. It started on incredibly high revs. The motor did not respond to any of the controls. It was revving so fast that the petrol was squirting through the pinhole in filling cap. The shaking on high revs caused the muffler to come loose and broke 2 bolts on top which hold the plastic cover. The self propelling feature did not work Then it suddenly stopped and I could't restart it again because the starting rope did not recoil back to starting position.Next day I noticed pool of oil on top of chassis on front, just below the cylinder. How I missed my 2 stroke Victa Commando which I had more than 20 years.

Lated approx 3 hours
Bought it second hand so it may have had a dodgey past history - aftercabout 45 mins leaked oil everywhere. Replaced the bolts and seal. After 2 hours again but more sudden, lost all the oil in about 10 seconds and as this was happening it stopped. Didnt start again...

Absolute crapp
I purchased the Black Eagle 18 months ago new through the online supplier. It seemed to initially work well but by the second mow the carbie cable needed the spring replaced, then the drive mechanism jammed (fixed afer about one hrs work) I then noticed that the start mechanism was lose and the mower could not be started. I found that the studs securing same to motor had snapped off and couldn't be drilled out. I replaced these with bolts and nuts which lasted 2 mows. The whole assembly again became loose and started to disintegrate. I rem...Read more
oved what was left. I now start with a manual rope pull. The mower is jammed in one gear and the throttle is useless as it cannot be adjusted. Needless to say I am now looking to buy something a little better-one that actually works. What an absolute piece of junk!Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!
Black eagle down
Brought 15 months ago, the self drive broke within 4 months. When I pull to start on the third mow which it was 5 1/2 months old the cord snapped and it goes through so much fuel. Not very reliable, very hard to start some times. I wouldn't sell it to my worst enemy. What a load of crap and even you can't get any money for recycle they offer me 25$.

Pure Grabage
1st one broke down and would not self propel, rang bargains online and got another 1 from them for parts, the second 1 was just as bad only this time i got to mow for half an hour before it also stopped propelling.
Don't waste your time or money! Buy a real mower from a reputable seller.

Cheap lawn mower
What can I say, looked around for a lawn mower that would do small to medium backyards, got some helpful advice from the staff at bargains online. At first I was scared to try out the name "black eagle" and even scared me more when they said "shipped out of Asia" but hey, whats not these days? Most things are from Asia.
The guys mentioned to me I get warranty for 12months if domestic (which mine is since its around the house) and spare parts if needed for future after warranty, so any breakdowns or problems im covered and no need to worry. Bought this around 2 weeks ago and still going well, comes with 4 stroke 4Hp engine with self propelled system HOW COOL IS THAT! ....good bye 2 stroke old fashioned pushing lawn mowers.

Satisfied with Black Eagle BE410M Self Propelled
Couple of months ago, I needed to cut my overgrown lawn. My old lawn mower was giving up on me so i needed a new lawn mower. After some research, I decided to purchase Self Propelled 18” Lawn Mower with a 4 Stroke 158cc OHV Engine. I contacted Bargains to know more about the product as I wanted to make sure it was a proper brick and mortar store and I can get support afterwards. The Sales person was very polite and knew what he was talking about. I ordered BE410M Lawn Mower and got a free delivery. I must say I got what I paid for impressed with the low noise, quick start and light weight.
I am completely satisfied with the performance of product and the service.

Now that I have a full refund, its safe to give a review with Zero Stars
I purchase this mower in November 2014 after moving to a home with more lawn, in a sub-tropical area. My old electric mower couldn't cut it (pun intended). I shopped around for a self propelled mower after borrowing a neighbours push along Honda. I nearly collapsed after an hour of pushing this heavy lump around. I Nearly collapsed again when I saw the price of new self-propelled mowers at local stores with a starting price of mid $700's at the "big green box".
I warily purchsed the Black Eagle self propelled at $299 delivered after weighing...Read more
up the options. Even a secondhand self proelled was around $400 (if I could find one). I knew from the minute ai opened the box that I was in for a challenge. The "worlds-most-useless-instruction-book" accompanied the mower, written in "world-worst-english" and containing "worlds-worst-photography". After about an hour and a half I had the thing assembled with few pieces left over. After filling the sump with oil (not supplied) and the tank with fuel I started the mower (third pull) and begain to mow the lawn. The mower ran for about six seconds and stopped I fu=igured out that the fuel tap was off, so the mower must have been running on fuel in the lines from a test run. Having conquered that challenge, I pulled the lever for the self propelling and waited... and waited... and waited. Nothing... The "onstruction mnaual' (their title) contained nothing about this so (or anything much else of use to be honest) I managed to figure out that the cable needed adjustment. I re started the mower and it lurched forward on application of the relevant lever. The mower is obviously designed for a 4'6" dwarf as i found my 5'8" self hunched over the handlebar which barely came to the top of my shorts. The wheels are 100% hollow and are made from a plastic that was about 1.5mm thick at the widest part. The catcher holds about 1 miunute worth of grass and is really hard to get in and out of position, as is the mulch plug. I was constantly in fear of hitting any hard part of the garden too hard. lest I break off a wheel or ding the base.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

This is a great mower
Have had this mower for twelve months and can't fault it. Starts easily on second pull and can easily walk behind at a leisurely pace through to a quick pace. Very sturdy and powerful with varying height adjustments. Had no problems what so ever.

Sadly I can't give it a negative Star Rating....Don't waste your money
I have had Black Eagle for 2 very long years and basically in that time have spent more time, repairing it, trying to repair it, calling the supplier and sadly arguing about obtaining replacements parts then actually using it. Repairs or replacements have included such things as the Grass catcher as it didn't fit from the time it was taken out of the box, 2 gearboxes,( both seized) too many sealed bearings for the drive wheels that I can't remember how many, at least the last ones are lasting as I bought them from CBC Bearings and a complete b...Read more
lade assembly, because they could not supply just the blades. Customer Service from the supplier is basically non-existent and they can't even give simple details of how to for example replace the drive belt which snapped when the last gearbox seized. And trying to find the actual Chinese manufacturer is like uncovering national secrets. Every request from the supplier has been met with "we are in the middle of moving warehouse. These mowers are basically unsafe and I would be very surprised if they meet Australian Standards. DO NOT BUYSimilar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!
