Bosch SMS50E42AU

Had ours for eight years now. But it has started to decline. Water doesn't heat up anymore that it can't melt the wax seal of the Finish dishwasher cleaner. Water starts to pool on the base. But not a bad run, I suppose. Now looking for a replacement. Unless Bosch reads this and says otherwise.

The old dishwasher failed with odd noises, smoke and odours - calling a service tech out was probably going to be waste of $120 min. or else service call + repair $400. So I went looking for a mid-range replacement.
I referred to Choice magazine which had just completed a review of current dishwashers and selected 3 suitable candidates and went shopping. The Good Guys just happened to have a very special price on the bottom of the range Bosch. It seemed to me that most of the extras missing on this model were electronic programming items and...

This is a great dishwasher. It is very quiet and does a great job. We often use the shorter cycle as 2 hours plus of washing dishes seems a long time. Very solidly made and it seems it will last quite a while. Good layout, it just does its job efficiently. We are very happy with it even though it isn't one of the pricier ones made in Germany.

Its like the Volkswagen of dishwashers. Fairly cost effective and reliable. Well made. Really really quiet. I had this stainless steel job when I was in this rented apartment before own home, might've been a Simpson I think, but gee whiz sounded like a [censored word removed] carwash. Bought the Bosch through appliances online and most happy ay :)

We needed a replacement for our trusty AEG. We found this Bosch in the scratch and dent section of E&S Trading. That was very cheap. It washes well and has a energy saving button that can reduce the time. Good rack placement and you can split the cutlery basket if you only have a few pieces to wash.It is quiet and hasn't missed a beat since we bought it 2 years ago.It does 2 washes a day. The only dirty dishes we had were when we got some cheap Finish tabs that I am sure were fake. Filters are easy to clean and take off and replace.

I bought this on sale from Harvey Norman at Knox shopping centre for $786 reduced from $1399 to replace our 20 year old ASKO. This dishwasher is whisper quiet, and does a great job. The wash cycle is a little long at 2hrs, but since I set it before I go to work or before I go to sleep it isn't an issue. Auto switch off at the end of the cycle is a great idea. Overall, I highly recommend this dishwasher.
Whisper quiet efficient dishwasher

Love it-best dishwasher ever. If these were still made and I needed a new dishwasher, I wouldn't hesitate to buy one again - German built, not Turkish. Got the white finish and it looks good too. I self fitted and it was easy. Couldn't be happier with this model Bosch dishwasher. Paid $700 but RRP was $1149 .
Quiet. Quality of wash and drying is outstanding.
Standard wash cycle is a little long but I never use it because the short wash is excellent and has never failed to wash stuff perfectly.

I bought this dishwasher at Appliances Online, what a bargain!
This dishwasher has a large bottom drawer and fits oversized plates and my huge oversized saucepans with ease. The top drawer is well designed and fits wine glasses, dishes and small items likes espresso glasses without breakage.
Ours is freestanding and is still quiet. Very impressed, so much better than our last Dishlex.

Bought this dishwasher after the Technica supplied with our new home quit completely after 5 years. We were never happy with it and really wish we had made the switch much earlier. Based on the Water and Energy ratings we would have paid for it several times over by now. The dishwasher is as described elsewhere very quiet and energy efficient. The best part however is how beautifully clean our dishes and glasses are after using it. Can't believe we waited so long to buy a really good and reasonably priced dishwasher. Highly recommended as was our buying experience with Appliances Online.

I picked up the Bosch SMS50E42AU from Harvey Norman in Moss Vale NSW. I negotiated an excellent price and picked it up for $800, was listed at $1149.01.

This model is built in Germany not Turkey, the German ones are stainless steel inside where the Turkish ones have a plastic floor. I was amazed at just how quiet the machine was it is only 44 db which was very quiet in real terms, I have owned a few dishwashers over the years and this is definitely the quietest I have ever seen.
