IV, SoundTouch IV, III, etc...Disappointed does't cover it..
Just taken delivery of the Soundwave 4 and set it up to play a range of my music. Although the sound was clear that was about it. I expected to be immersed in the music given the price and hype of the unit. Whether is was heavy metal or classics, the sound just didn't cut the mustard and the volume was limited... I wanted to go louder but no. Bose either need to tone down the hype but even more..lower their prices to match the performance....grossly over priced products. I already had a sound dock which did impress me but my latest expensive addition falls way off the pace.

Excellent quality for a non-professional home sound system
Bose say the system is calibrated to provide the most faithful reproduction of the source sounds and this is OK for all the media I am using including digital radio and TV. For deep bass or treble you should purchase systems designed for the purpose and steer clear of Bose.

Poor sound Quality
I have been a faithful user of Bose products, but am bitterly disappointed with this system. No adjustments for bass or treble, something that could easily have been added. A huge disappointment in the sound ( despite trying it in different locations. Bought it online direct from Bose, if it had been a store I would have taken it back.
Avoid at all costs

Bitterly dissapointed
Excellent sound for such a small unit, however, there is no way to adjust for base or treble, accepts only 1 disk at a time, no way to select a specific track, i live in area where no digital stations exist just AM will work in digital area but i cant pick up the AM stations, totally controlled by remote, no spare remote is supplied

Bose & Bluetooth
I have a Bose Wave Sound Touch 1V. When I am playing the radio & I turn on my Apple Imac, the radio immediately shuts off & the sound system searches to pair with the Imac. This did not happen in the first week when I had to go to Bluetooth, Preferences & actually choose the Sound System. Now it chooses for me when I wanted to continue on the radio.

Ideal for a villa/unit.
Living in a 102 square metre villa/unit meant I needed a smaller audio player to fit in with the scale of things. We previously tried using the DVD player via the TV for playing my wife's CDs, but the sound was flat. After some research, we settled on the Bose Wave Soundtouch IV. One of the features that attracted me to this particular Bose unit was its WiFi capability, so I could stream audio from my network drive. My wife liked the look of the device and that it could play her CDs. The unit is available in 3 colours and we chose Espresso Blac...Read more
k, which is more like a very dark grey. Unusually, the unit comes with a large, printed multi-lingual manual and a poster-sized quick setup guide. Setup (connecting to the network) was easy and with the installation of the control apps on both my iPad and laptop, I can control music playing remotely. The small remote that comes with the device is Ok, but like most Bluetooth devices, has limited range, hence the preference is to control it from either the laptop or iPad. We have found the sound quality acceptable for our music taste (which is quite broad), in that the bass is deep enough and the higher frequencies are quite clear. The test CD had some interesting compilations, that were surprisingly pleasant to listen to and adequately demonstrated the quality of the output. Compared to other mini HiFi audio systems we had tried this unit was easily the best of the bunch. The unit features both FM and Digital radio broadcast reception, which work well, although we don't normally listen to radio broadcasts except in the car. Compared to other units we had looked at the price of $999 seemed a little high, but it did include a 'bonus' Soundlink Bluetooth colour speaker. Overall we are quite happy with our purchase.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Bose, Bar None
Rich tones that fill the room from a small device compared to home theatre units I have owned before (LG, Samsung and even Sony).
Have been wanting to buy this for a long time now but because 5yo daughter is now in Gr1 piano (AMEB curriculum), just had to get it our music player at home.
We can distinguish notes from a double bass as low as D1. Amazing clarity.
Worth the $999 we paid. And it even came with a Bonus Soundtouch Bluetooth speaker valued at $179. I was hoping to use this "baby speaker" (as my daughter refers to it) in my home office but she has taken ownership.

Total waste of money!!
Only have limited space for a sound system in our house so spent years buying cheaper brands as Bose are expensive. Finally made the purchase as a Christmas 2015 treat, couldn't wait to listen to it - very disappointed could of spent half the money on one from john Lewis and tried the system with helpful assistance. No wonder you can't go into any shop that sells sound systems and try out the Bose wave, good marketing on Bose as it worked on me, thought i was getting something special - so disappointed.

Not quite what I expected.
Bought as a birthday present and aim to have as digital clock radio specifically to "waken" to am 3 AW Ross and John but with other benefits - it is a fail.
It is a quality system with good sound but overkill as clock radio, physically to big, time display to small and hard to read, hard to set timer, fiddley small remote control buttons without using lengthy supplied aerials am/ fm reception so so. Not sure the the CD slot necessary?
So it is now out in family room and on plus side streaming music, Pandora, etc good, sound good and am/fm rec...Read more

A DAB Clock Radio like no other
The BOSE Wave Music System III is the third unit I have purchased since BOSE released the first Wave Radio back in 1993. The technology behind the remarkable sound had remained the same, with different technologies being added over the years, and in particular the convenient "Touch Top" feature which allows you to switch the unit On/Off by a simple light touch on the top of the unit.
SOUND: Rich, clear, natural room-filling sound with a deep bass that sounds better the higher the volume goes up and doesn't distort. Keep in mind that this is ...Read more
a table top system with dual alarms. CONNECTIVITY: Aux In 3.5mm stereo input for external sources, 3.5mm stereo headphone connector,. Bluetooth is achieved through Bose Link with the optional BOSE Wave Bluetooth adaptor. I especially appreciate the dual alarm system that comes on gently, rather than abruptly blasting you out of your sleep like those cheap inferior clock radio's on the market. Absoulte Rubbish
I paid 900 dollars for a soundtouch at the penrith store last week.
It's absolute rubbish and the sound is nothing like what we heard at the store.

I like it
I was after a multi CD system and the Waves3 with CD stacker add on was the only one I could find. I was not intending to spend anywhere near what these cost, but it was only one I could find! I like it! I can see that the location of the unit is important. I have always been one who likes to "up" the bass so was concerned about the lack of adjustment, but I am happy with the sound. The clarity is excellent- playing CD's I have heard hundreds of times, I am hearing words in the lyrics I had not heard before. Instrumentals and classical come int...Read more
o their own... The louder, the better they sound. I struggled to find many positive reviews when I was shopping, so I was hesitant. Everyone has different expectations, but as a 50 something music lover with a load of CD's I am happy with my purchase. It's very compact and easy to use. No speaker cable running around and I love the "just touch the top and it's off" feature. It's expensive, but I'm hoping it never needs replacing!Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Amazing
My parents and i both bought the wave system 3 from the new Bose Store @ Penrith.
These units are amazing, sound great, easy to set up.
Positioning of the unit is critical. If you like more bass, try and place the unit in the corner of the room.
It is very expensive for what it is, but Bose provide outstanding service. My unit came with a scratch and it was swapped no questions asked.

em that works with the Ipod, but the Bose just has that slight edge, especially at higher volumes. Because we really like the quality & simplicity of these products so much, we'd now ike to achieve equally as good & cost/effective results at home with our TV, concert DVD, Ipod, & laptop interface. We are not technically clever, but we like simplicity and we know good sound when we hear it. Our current home gear consists of a pretty new LG HDMI TV, a cheaper LG DVD blu-ray player, a Marantz MR 1501 5.1 AV unit and 5 older Kenwood speakers with powered sub-woofer. Based on recent popping problems, I suspect either the Marantz AV and/or the Kenwood speakers may be on the way out. So, maybe the little Bose or a similar speaker approach might be the most cost-effective solution, but it must allow us to play our much loved concert DVD's and CD's as well as handle the TV. Has anyone any good suggestions as to the best approach? Thanks in anticipation.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Great sound but....
This Bose unit does have great sound but it isn't worth the $800 I paid for it. I tend to listen to the digital radio but it is tricky getting a good reception. I could've bought a sound system with just as good sound for half the price but being Bose and it's reputation I thought it would be worth it, I was wrong.
Great sound, portable, has a digital radio.
Way too expensive, hard to get a good digital radio reception.

Zero stars if possible
I've got an older one so the remote may be different. I am so darn tired of this piece of overrated junk.
The remote is supposed to work a couple different ways. From station to station and one fuzzy number to the next in order then eventually you get to a hearable station. The problem is it just does wichever it wants . I've had it. And like millions of other reviews I have the same problem with the CD player.
It works sometimes just like the remote. I will never buy any Bose product again. I spent way to much money for this to be such junk. All Hype. Get a hundred dollar Jeep radio or Sony or Panasonic.
Buy 5 of them for the price of this junker.

Great little unit
I have had enough of spending $200-300 on small stereos by well known brands that begin with S. The lasers are rubbish and 6-12 months later they fail repeatedly to track or even start the CD. I have bought 3 now for various members of my family and all units have ended up on the recycling pile.
This is my first Bose system and I'm impressed. It is really solidly built and reads the CD almost immediately. The bass and dynamic range is fantastic and the radio works a treat even with the aerial built in to the power cord as it is. Why can't othe...Read more

Well worth the money
The sound quality is unbelievable, it's very simple to use and program, an optional backlit remote can be purchased for $60 and is far better than the small remote. The unit also looks good in any room, the brightness of the display automatically adjusts to the ambient light. The iPod dock is also a terrific accessory.
Rich Bose sound, Made in the USA, Aesthetically appealing.
The remote provided is too small.

It will be a lot more money than they are worth - the Australian distributor is ripping us off with over 30% higher prices than in the US!

I have got rid of 30 year old sound system (tuner, tape deck, CD, turntable) and moved CDs to my study (3mx3m) and am looking for something to play CDs in study sometimes but mostly in other room (s) or outside or in garage. Also gradually putting CDs into laptop and on stick. Is Bose Wave SoundTouch IV suitable? I expect I will need a separate speaker for use away from the study. Not fanatical about sound. Reasonable quality will do. Which speaker? Am I looking at the right product or is there a cheaper or other option? Jack
