Sound quality is good - mechanical issues let it down
I bought a system III about 3 years ago because of the Bose name. Even though I considered it expensive I thought it would be a good reliable unit.
Well, It worked well for about 6 months or so and then the remote failed - wouldn't turn it on or allow you to change between radio, CD etc. So I ordered a second remote. That worked for about a year or so and then it too failed in part. So we have 2 remotes which only partly work One is used to turn the unit on and switch between functions. The other is used to adjust the volume. I have not yet o...Read more
rdered a 3rd remote - what's the point? A second issue is the CD player which failed about 6 months ago. It may be something simple but considering what I paid for this unit I am disappointed. I have other CD players which are much older and they still work. The third issue is the radio reception. We live out of town so I never expected reception to be marvellous but AM and FM both suffer from poor quality. The receiver we were using prior to this gave better performance.Purchased in July 2021 for $800.00.

Can't replace the remote
The radio, Bose Wave Music System III, is a delight. I love it. But without a remote it is useless.
When the remote failed in June 2018, following instructions in the manual, I range and ordered (and paid for) a new one.
This was on the 20th June 2018. So far, nearly six weeks later, and after multiple phone calls and emails, they have sent me two duds, which were for the wrong model.
It is often hard to get through on the phone and, while individual staff members do their best, after sales service is poor. You never speak to the same pers...Read more

You Gets What You Pays for!
I bought a Bose Wave Music System III in early 2014, and it has been in constant use (in my bedroom) since. I love it - it is easy to program AM, FM (and, I daresay, digital-I don't have digital reception where I live) radio stations, reception is excellent for FM and okay with AM (except when there is either human or naturally generated electrical activity nearby). I don't use the CD player much, but it works just fine when I do. Sound quality is terrific for such little speakers (I'm not a hi fi purist though), alarm (buzzer or radio) is e...Read more
asy to set, and I find the unit user-friendly and attractively styled. I bought a black unit - although the white unit looks attractive, every white plastic appliance I've ever owned has yellowed after a while - very annoying when a koala has paid a premium price! I also like the good battery back up for settings, and the way the display automatically dims when lights are turned out. I'll likely upgrade to the latest SoundTouch IV system; I'd like to be able to connect via bluetooth to speakers in other rooms. Overall, Bose make great sound systems (my car is fitted standard with one, and it's excellent) - well worth the extra money.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Aged technical design
I like most BOSE products, but in my opinion this one is somewhat overrated. It seems to have good sound quality at first - by listening closer you find that the bass boost is extremely high and tends to cover the middle and higher tones.
Inside the unit, the build quality is very good, but the used technology is aged - namely an old coil transformer, very few settings or an energy eating green fluorescent display that is not very good readable because it has no dot matrix.
Call me funny but for the bass overhead I opened the unit and pu...Read more
t a sock inside the bass reflex tube (to shorten its length and dampening it). Now it sounds much more balanced, especially on low volume (morning alarm clock). The 2 included timers are simple, you cannot select weekdays. And the snooze goes up to 60 minutes, then it turns off, no matter what. I guess BOSE should update this radio, as the more recent versions seem more or less identical.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

A DAB Clock Radio like no other
The BOSE Wave Music System III is the third unit I have purchased since BOSE released the first Wave Radio back in 1993. The technology behind the remarkable sound had remained the same, with different technologies being added over the years, and in particular the convenient "Touch Top" feature which allows you to switch the unit On/Off by a simple light touch on the top of the unit.
SOUND: Rich, clear, natural room-filling sound with a deep bass that sounds better the higher the volume goes up and doesn't distort. Keep in mind that this is ...Read more
a table top system with dual alarms. CONNECTIVITY: Aux In 3.5mm stereo input for external sources, 3.5mm stereo headphone connector,. Bluetooth is achieved through Bose Link with the optional BOSE Wave Bluetooth adaptor. I especially appreciate the dual alarm system that comes on gently, rather than abruptly blasting you out of your sleep like those cheap inferior clock radio's on the market. I like it
I was after a multi CD system and the Waves3 with CD stacker add on was the only one I could find. I was not intending to spend anywhere near what these cost, but it was only one I could find! I like it! I can see that the location of the unit is important. I have always been one who likes to "up" the bass so was concerned about the lack of adjustment, but I am happy with the sound. The clarity is excellent- playing CD's I have heard hundreds of times, I am hearing words in the lyrics I had not heard before. Instrumentals and classical come int...Read more
o their own... The louder, the better they sound. I struggled to find many positive reviews when I was shopping, so I was hesitant. Everyone has different expectations, but as a 50 something music lover with a load of CD's I am happy with my purchase. It's very compact and easy to use. No speaker cable running around and I love the "just touch the top and it's off" feature. It's expensive, but I'm hoping it never needs replacing!Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Amazing
My parents and i both bought the wave system 3 from the new Bose Store @ Penrith.
These units are amazing, sound great, easy to set up.
Positioning of the unit is critical. If you like more bass, try and place the unit in the corner of the room.
It is very expensive for what it is, but Bose provide outstanding service. My unit came with a scratch and it was swapped no questions asked.

Hi. I recently ordered a new remote for my mother, since the old one appeared not to be working. I just need someone to tell me how to test the new one, since my mother isn't able to and I've never used this system before. So it's got a new battery. Now what do I do? I do know this sounds crazy, but my mother is 89, gets very confused and it's honestly easier to ask you! Thanks. Alex

If you have a digital camera, just point the remote at the camera and press the buttons on the remote. If you see a it light up in the camera then the remote is working. (FWIW, we are on our 4th remote - they don't last!)

I have a wave music system 3 and the normal mode repeats instead of playing only once. Also I don't get any artist name or song titles. Suggestions? Thank you.

em that works with the Ipod, but the Bose just has that slight edge, especially at higher volumes. Because we really like the quality & simplicity of these products so much, we'd now ike to achieve equally as good & cost/effective results at home with our TV, concert DVD, Ipod, & laptop interface. We are not technically clever, but we like simplicity and we know good sound when we hear it. Our current home gear consists of a pretty new LG HDMI TV, a cheaper LG DVD blu-ray player, a Marantz MR 1501 5.1 AV unit and 5 older Kenwood speakers with powered sub-woofer. Based on recent popping problems, I suspect either the Marantz AV and/or the Kenwood speakers may be on the way out. So, maybe the little Bose or a similar speaker approach might be the most cost-effective solution, but it must allow us to play our much loved concert DVD's and CD's as well as handle the TV. Has anyone any good suggestions as to the best approach? Thanks in anticipation.
