Mishasked
Hi. Is Bosisto's eucalyptus oil diluted with water safe to spray the carpet and furniture with to get rid of fleas, while there is a kitten and a cat in the house?
Thanks
1 answer
Customer ServiceBosisto's
Hi Mish
No, we wouldn't recommend pure Eucalyptus oil or Spray be used near kittens and cats - even if diluted - just to be safe. It could linger on upholstery and transfer to paws which cats could lick. But you could also ask your vet for advice. Kind Regards, Bosisto's.

Can I use eucalyptus oil in my oil burner

Customer ServiceBosisto's

Taniaasked
What % of alcohol is in the lavender and eucalyptus sprays?
4 answers
Customer ServiceBosisto's
Hi Tania
Although we can't give out exact information on our formulas, I can tell you that these sprays are antibacterial but not antiviral, and have not been tested to kill COVID-19. They do not have the alcohol level required to be a disinfectant that kills viruses, but they are excellent for general antibacterial use. Kind Regards, Bosisto's
O.k.... I understand your product formula is confidential but is it equal to or greater than 60% alcohol?
Hey Tania, I don’t think you heard them mate.
“They do not have the alcohol level required to be a disinfectant that kills viruses”
So that’s less than 60% alcohol.

Janeasked
Hi, my friend has (a mild case of) pneumonia and a chest infection, but tested negative for covid, and she is frequently spraying your eucalyptus spray around her small unit and person, which I’m not sure is good for her. Is the aerosol harmful to her respiratory issues? Can you please list the ingredients? Thank you kindly.
1 answer
Customer ServiceBosisto's
Hi there Jane
So sorry to hear about your friend! The ingredients are eucalyptus oil, ethanol (alcohol) and a non CFC propellant. There isn't anything in there that would exacerbate her symptoms, in fact the eucalyptus oil is probably good for it, at the very least keeping the room free from nasty bacteria.
The propellant and ethanol will both dissipate pretty quickly in the air, leaving just eucalyptus droplets. As long as she's not pointing the can at her face or inhaling it at close range from the can (that's when propellant misuse can become harmful) it will be fine. But as always, check with your GP if there's any concerns. Kind Regards, The Bosisto's Team.

Is Bosisto's eucalyptus spray effective against corona virus?
1 answer
Customer ServiceBosisto's
Hi Raymond
Our eucalyptus spray is antibacterial, not antiviral, so it's unlikely to kill COVID-19 (although no testing has been done). It is useful to keep surfaces clean and hygienic, which, along with washing hands, is one of the measures recommended to help stop the spread of the virus. Hope this helps. Kind Regards, Bosisto's.
Rod Wasked
What is the dilution rate when using eucalyptus oil to disinfect surfaces

Customer ServiceBosisto's
Hi Rod
Here is a good link with a cleaning spray recipe; https://www.stayathomemum.com.au/houseandhome/diy-cleaning-products/cleaning-the-natural-way-eucalyptus-oil/
You can up the quantity of eucalyptus oil in this (say 2 capfuls), and even add isopropyl alcohol or vodka instead of vinegar.
If you're wanting a strong and easy antibacterial spray however, we'd recommend seeking out our Eucalyptus Spray in the aerosol can if you can find it (in the medicinal aisle). Kind Regards, Bosisto's.
Vodka is only 40% alcohol not at least 65% needed for the virus
Customer ServiceBosisto's
Hi there
We aren't recommending a spray to kill viruses - that's definitely not our area of expertise. This question was regarding disinfecting surfaces, which is what an antibacterial spray like above will do. Kind Regards, Bosisto's.

can bosisto's eucalyptus still be used 4 yrs after expiry

No, we wouldn't recommend that. After expiry we cannot guarantee its therapeutic effect or aroma. Kind Regards, Bosisto's.

If a child sucks on the toy after it has been cleaned with eucalyptus spray, is it safe?
1 answer
Customer ServiceBosisto's
If the toy is still wet/damp from the product, then the item could potentially be unsafe for the child.
If the item is fully dry and all the product has evaporated, it should be fine. If you are still concerned, we recommend you rinse in water and dry after spraying with Euc Spray.
May S.asked
Can Biosis kill Covid19 virus?
2 answers
Customer ServiceBosisto's
Hi May
It hasn't been tested against this virus because it's very new - it would take months for this sort of sampling and testing to take place. Our eucalyptus spray has been tested effective against common household germs and bacteria but unfortunately any answer about COVID19 would be pure speculation.
Kind Regards, Bosisto's.
Thankyou Bosisto’s got a responsible statement. Simon

If I mix pure eucalyptus oil with water to kill dustmite, what is ratio or % of oil required to kill dustmite completely? Thanks.

Customer ServiceBosisto's
Hi Lou
This article may help you. https://www.jacionline.org/article/S0091-6749(97)70136-2/fulltext
Alternatively, we do actually sell a ready-made Dust Mite Wash that kills up to 99% of mites in the laundry wash. It's available through our online store. https://www.bosistos.com.au/product/bosistos-dust-mite-wash
Kind Regards, Bosisto's
My question relates to getting rid of dust mite on carpeted floors (large areas) and sofas. I have used the Bosistos dustmite spray can but have to go through too many cans to cover the large area. To speed up the process I intend to fill a 3 - 5 litre weed sprayer with a mix of Bositos pure eucalyptus oil or tea tree oil and water. Could you please tell me the ratio (or %) of oil to water needed to kill dustmite on carpet. Also, which is more effective against dustmite - eucalyptus oil or tea tree oil? Thank you.
Customer ServiceBosisto's
Hello Lou,
We would recommend you contact the carpet manufacturer/supplier to confirm what is the best product to help remove dustmites from your specific carpet type. The manufacturer will be the expert in providing you will the correct information. Thanks, Bosisto's

spaikasked
how do i know whether the bottle of bosistos eucalyptus oil i purchased on ebay is from the australian company?
1 answer
Customer ServiceBosisto's
Hi spaik
We answered this on your other question, but in summary, both companies legally hold the Bosisto's brand name - one overseas and one in Australia (it's a complex trademark issue). But if you're looking for the Aussie product, this is the 100% Australian owned brand that contains Australian-grown eucalyptus oil. https://www.bosistos.com.au/product/bosisto-s-eucalyptus-oil-12
Bosisto's is marketed overseas under our "Euky Bear" brand name instead.

I saw this from website, so which one is the authentic/original company?
1 answer
Customer ServiceBosisto's
Hi evon
The address above is an Asian company which trademarked the Bosisto's name back in the 1980's before we did, and appropriated our (old) logos and history on their site. Sadly we had - and still have - no recourse as there are different laws there. We have to market our product in Thailand, Malaysia and Singapore under the name "Euky Bear" because of this trademark issue. We don't know where their oil comes from but it's not Australian, and they do not have anything to do with us. The real Bosisto's company, the original brand since 1852 is www.bosistos.com.au.
Kind Regards, Bosisto's.
Minh D.asked
im 20 weeks pregnant and just wondering if its ok to use this spray? Thanks
1 answer
Customer ServiceBosisto's
Hi Minh D, sorry for the late reply due to Christmas break! Yes this spray is perfectly fine for use during all stages of pregnancy if used as directed on the label. Please avoid spraying directly on your skin as skin sensitivity can be heightened during pregnancy, and always check with your GP if you have any concerns. Kind Regards, Bosisto's.
Zara Y.asked
I read online this can be used to deter cats from scratching carpet/doors. Is this product safe to use around cats? It lingers in the air long after sprayed and I’m worried my cat will inhale it, or scratch the spot again and then lick her paws and ingest it. Is this harmful?
2 answers
Suggest you contact the company to be certain
Customer ServiceBosisto's
Hi Zara, Thank you for taking the time to reach out to us.
We do not recommend the use of Eucalyptus spray around cats. Cats lack the ability to process most essential oils, so in the case of pure eucalyptus oil (and Spray) it's best to err on the side of caution. Our cleaning products are safe to use as they are soluble and contain only a small amount of Eucalyptus that will be wiped clean. It would be best to contact your local vet if you have any further concerns using this product.
Kind Regards, The Bosisto's Team
Paul E.asked
I have a friend who, to me, seems addicted to the spray can. She says the smell is wonderful and can't seem to get enough. While not spraying directly into her mouth or nose, she will spray into the air right near her face so as to get a large 'whiff' of the spray.
Just how dangerous is this and how can i help to discourage the habit.
Thank you

Hi Paul
I've checked this with our R&D department and while there's very little issue with inhaling the eucalyptus oil itself, it's unwise to spray an aerosol at close range near the face as there's a risk of inhaling propellant.
Our eucalyptus spray is designed as a room spray only. If your friend likes a "hit" of eucalyptus there's safer ways to do this - try popping some pure oil on a tissue or hanky to inhale, put some oil on the floor of the shower, or try one of our new "Roll on" products which can be found in the Natives range at Chemist Warehouse. You roll these onto your wrists and inhale the aroma throughout the day. There's one called "Breathe" that contains our eucalyptus oil in the formula. Diffusers are also very popular, we have one of these at Chemist Warehouse also.
Hope these tips help! Kind Regards, Bosisto's.
I used some spray to disinfect a mask . I guess this could be almost as dangerous as getting the Convid19. Should I check with Poisons Dept?
Customer ServiceBosisto's
Hi Jeff - no, of course not! Unless you're frequently and deliberately inhaling this product from the can, like the poster above's friend is doing, you are fine. Inhaling the aroma from a mask you've disinfected is not dangerous at all.

I recently viewed an episode on landline ABC and they explained how China was dumping eucalyptus product in Australia. Can you assure endusers that your products are fully sourced in Australia. If not why Not.

Hi Terry
We've been on Landline ourselves to answer this very question! Here's a link to the story, scroll down and you can watch the video. https://www.fgb.com.au/content/growing-super-trees-future
Our super trees project is now in its 17th year, and we now have 10,000 acres of eucalypt plantations at Inglewood, Victoria.
