It will certainly smash up coriander seeds (did you mean seeds?) very effectively - i use it for flax and sunflower seeds and it is amazing, just a few seconds! Don't know about the other ingredients you mentioned but can't see why it wouldn't be fine except (!) that the blade is at the bottom so it may require ingredients to fall to this level and possibly fresh leaves, mint etc may not. Maybe a "blender" would work better for you? Bear in mind too, the container is quite small so you'll have to use small quantities. The bowl is removable so quite easy to detach and wash out.

I have used the coffee & spice grinder to grind dry spices and seeds but I don't think the grinder is designed to process liquid ingredients. I use a stick blender like a barmix to purée foods (less to clean up).

Thanks!! Would love to know if any of you have ever tried making something like a purée.

What is the grind of spices like?

Spice grinding is great, lots of short bursts works best and make sure you give it a good wash before grinding coffee. Does a wonderful job with seeds especially, like coriander, cumin etc, grinding releases a wonderful aroma and enhanced flavors for cooking. Much better than buying packaged ground spices.

Can you grind the coffee fine enough for an espresso machine?

Phil M.Breville

It can, however, I would never recommend a blade grinder for espresso prep, no matter what the brand or model. Much better, more consistent results will be achieved with a burr grinder. Blade grinders will do a good job for drip filter, plunger, percolator, moka pot. ^PM

This was sold to me at David Jones as a grinder that could do Espresso. I have not used it yet & now I am confused. The instructions in the manual do NOT comment on ESPRESSO level grinding & I believe that the packaging should CLEARLY STATE what this grinder is best for. I have a hand blender grinder from BRAUN which seems to be similar to this grinder and so I am unsure whether this will work. The reason I am cautious is that if the grind is incorrect you either have a watery coffee or the water does not go through the grind in the coffee machine.

I have never done this with my grinder, but it is possible - but I would still use a blender rather than use this grinder.

Thank you for the answer. I was only planning to grind the occasional small quantities of ginger, garlic and soaked seeds.
