Clogs up after 5 months use
I thought this juicer was fantastic when I first purchased it as I love the pulpy juice produced. I did the Joe Cross Reboot juice diet and felt amazing. Towards the end of my 3 month juice diet the bottom grey ring fell off the clear plastic that holds the auger and although I clicked it back on often, I couldn't get the orange plug to sit properly so there was always some leakage that needed to be mopped up. Following this I noticed that celery and kale tended to clog and although I tried to put more juicy items through the juicer following h...Read more
ard or stringy items, there was always a backlog in the juicer that didn't run through into the jug. After this the top got jammed and I couldn't clean it. I tried again the next day and by holding the grey base in place and pushing down as well as around, I managed to get the lid off. This now happens on a regular basis. My juicer is now 6 months old and I think it should be covered by warranty but I live in a remote location so I'm not sure who to send it to. I think the Breville Crush would be a wonderful purchase for a person who is a casual juicer but if there are several family members using it or like me, you juice 2 or 3 times per day, this machine isn't strong enough to cope with it.1 comment

Good unit, but blades in basket go blunt and dosnt juice after 5 months!
Had the unit for 5 months, initially I was really happy with it, and did all intended purpose. 5 months in and now all the pulp ends up in the juice section, so its pretty much all mushy. Rang Breville and was told it sounds like the basket is blunt. I wouldn't have expected this after 5 months of use! Replacement basket ranges from $50-$80!

Amazing product!
I bought my juicer from Myer for $199 reduced from $399!! I thought that was excellent value - the juicer is amazing. It's super quiet, easy to clean and extracts so much juice from any fruits & veggies I chuck in it. You will not be disappointed!

Fantastic Juicer!
After using a borrowed slow juicer for a while decided to purchase one. Spent quite a while in Myer (they currently have the Breville on special for $199!) and found the parts in the Breville machine were identical to the Kurvings B3000 at 3 times the price so figured we didn't have anything to lose.
Extremely happy with this Juicer. No problems with anything we have thrown at it yet, everything just gets chewed up without having to use the plunger. Yes, it is best to cut celery in in to small pieces and mix the fruit & veg as you juice to ...Read more

Does exactly what we wanted.
We were looking for a cold press juicer. This particular one was recommended by the sales lady at Good Guys. She explained it in detail and what sold it to me was how easy it is also to clean. We use it every day. All sorts of fruits and veggies ... The only suggestion is that you cut your celery into small pieces. It was probably a little more than we initially wanted to spend, but worth every cent. :)
Juices well and very easy to clean.

Disappointed.
i had a few to choose from in the $300-$400 price range and went i for this one as breville has a good reputation, but i'm a bit disappointed as it clogs and blocks easily especially when juicing celery (which i do,every day!) It also stops often when juicing hard veg.
looks good and is quite easy to clean .
expensive, compared to similar options, blocks, clogs, leves lots of wet pulp.

Hi Ails, Sorry you are not happy with your Juicer. Due to the stringy bits in celery that can get clogged sometimes. We suggest cutting the celery into smaller pieces so that the string lengths are reduced. Hope this helps.
We found that using apples (or other "watery" items) immediately after the celery helps unclog the unit. You can then follow the apples with your other stringy vegetables. We will often use half our... Read more

Looks good but limited
We bought this because it seemed a good compromise between function and looks. Some of the cold crush juicers look difficult to clean and more suited to a workshop than a kitchen, but this looked ok and easy to clean. Unfortunately it falls short in certain areas, so I would not recommend it.
Its easy to clean and looks good
It is a bit hit and miss with certain vegetables and fruits. It clogs easily when processing anything with stringy fibre, such as celery, rhubarb and such. The juice of some fruits, such as pineapple, seem to end up in the pulp container. Works well with carrots, beetroot etc.

Not to bad
Shop around for good price, I paid $266 for brand new. The unit is quiet, easy assemble and dissamble, HORRIBLE to clean. Does the job with fruits and vegetables, but be careful with woody stalks, the unit can get clog so badly, you can't take apart easily. The promoting video lies, the speed is much slower and the dried press bits are not so dried.
For the price what I paid is good, feel sorry for people who were rip-off by greedy shops
Horrible, terible to clean after use

Very good
Quiet, surprisingly fast to process the fruits and you don't need to cut them up too small as the chute is large. The only fruit which has lots of froth is apple. All the other juices are delicious. Takes a while to put the thing together but just carefully line up the orange dots and you'll be fine. I used to waste so much fruit with my old juicer. The pulp comes out very dry.
quiet and very high juice extraction
cleaning. There is a design flaw with the orange stopper as you need a chop stick to get the pulp out of the channel.

Couldnt drink store bought juice again
I turned vegan and organic almost a year ago, and was looking at improving my nutritional intake as I found it hard to consume so much fruit and veg to adequately supply me with the main common vitamins, like B12, Iron, Calcium and Proteins, Oxalic Acids etc. I started juicing with a 400 dollar Kenwood centrifugal juicer that made good juice without much cutting, but blew up 10 days later. JB Hi Fi was kind enough to instantly exchange the Kenwood to a 500 dollar Masticating Breville juicer. Lets say that I am very glad this happened as the qua...Read more
lity of juice is exceptional. I have had store bought juice on occasion, and it now reminds me of flavoured cordial compared with the Masticating juicer. As for necessary vitamins and minerals, it would be impossible to consume such large amounts of fruits and vegetables. But with this Breville machine it has made my life and my health top notch. Downsides to the Breville Masticating juicer or any Masticating juicer at that, is, you will need to cut up your fruits and veges into smaller pieces, rather than sticking them in whole, like the centifugal juicer. But the quality of your juice, plus the amount of extra juice you get from extraction is 50% plus more. Saving you money on not wasted fruit and extra vitamins. You also need to strain your juice that comes out of the breville. Brevile does state that it is pulpy and I quite like pulp, but this is thickly disgusting to swallow in our opinion. The upside to this is, if you buy a dehyrator, you can make the excess pulp into fruit leather (rollups). The wastage comes out very very dry and if you add some garlic and salt to the mixture, and stick them in the dehydrator, you get good healthy human biscuits and the dogs love them also. The Breville has a 5yr warranty and a strong motor, but can get jammed especially with whole carrots. This is rectified by just putting it in reverse. Clean up is easy and must be done straight away, or it won't be easy. Juice does not last for more than a day, but it is the best juice you will ever drink and if you stick to organic foods, it will be the healthiest also. health benefits from a cold press juicer cutting up ingredients and having to strain juice.1 comment

ts. In use it chews through raw veggies and fruits easily, yes you need to cut stringy stuff (celery) into shorter pieces but this is no problem considering the benefits. My unit has never clogged or locked up, I kind of wonder how much material this would require. Clean up is more involved than blender type juicers but no different to any comparable unit and not too bad once you get used to the cleaning process, special brushes are supplied for the job. The pro's with this unit are: maximum juice extraction, smooth tasty pulpy juice, dry pulp, and finally, the slow action of the unit does not destroy enzymes and other goodies like high speed juicers. The con's with the unit, these units take a little more cleaning, but no different to any other comparable device.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Loving it
I just purchased this about 2 weeks ago and so far Im loving it. Ive been making all sorts of juices from spinach, Kale and celery with carrot apple and ginger to melon, berries and mint.
Juice is a lovely consistency with a little bit of pulp through it which I like.
Its pretty quiet and not too bad to clean up although if you're in a hurry in the mornings then you may not have time as the parts are not dishwasher friendly. By the time you cut and wash all the veg and fruit, then juice them and drink it and then wash up you're looking a...Read more
t about 20 - 30 minutes which is a fair chunk of time in the morning when you're rushing for work. It comes with a little brush attachment thing that you put the mesh inside and swizzle it round to clean however its more of a gimmick than anything as you still need to use the cleaning brush also supplied to clean the mesh properly. Most of the pulp just rinses away very easily but you need to scrub the mesh to make sure you don't leave any behind. One reason I purchased this machine is because the juice is cold pressed and therefore apparently lasts longer than juices made with centrifugal juicers. So you can make a couple of days juice at once and store in the fridge. There is a reverse function that you can use if anything gets caught however I noticed that when you put in reverse the bowl becomes unlocked from the base. It doesnt really matter but seems to be a design flaw in my opinion. I have also noticed that quite a lot of pulp is left inside once finished juicing. The other day I noticed two whole segments of orange barely even crushed left inside. I think the nature of this machine means that you need to keep feeding it to push through what is already inside therefore once you finish whatever is still inside the machine doesnt get fed through. Its a bit wasteful in this sense. There is also some minor leakage underneath the bowl onto the main unit. The manual says if this happens try juicing at a slower speed?? There is only one speed so I presume they mean feed it through more slowly.1 comment
Looks like a lot of minuses... how minor is the leak?
Thanks :)

I have a BJS600. The bowl can't be removed for washing. I have tried using warm water & pressed the reverse button which did not help. Is this a manufacturers defect -as i can see quite a few users having the same problem......

21st December'17 - No response yet from Breville .............?
I called Breville Customer Care and they have washed their hands of this issue as the machine was purchased more than a year ago and is out of warranty. (machine is 4 years old - but used rarely as it is difficult to take off the bowl for cleaning)
I have given the unit to Metrowide Appliances, Hornsby to remove the bowl. Its been more than two weeks and they havent had the time to look at it.

Hi L.Y.Lee. Was there a solution? Mine has done the same thing twice now. First time it managed to come off after about an hour or so and now its happened again a month or so later. Align and Lift, but does not lift. What exactly is the reason why it wont lift? Suction? Machine part not aligned inside?
I've only had mine for 4 months.
edit: looks like others (in Canada) are having the same issue. Sounds like a design fault.

I was told when I purchased this juicer that you can juice nuts. Is this true?

Yes, it's true! Although I have yet to try this for myself, I have heard heaps of people love making their own nut milks and how easy it is with this juicer :)
