I found this to be a good size, but then I don't do anything that extreme with my microwave. Very good looking, and a gazillion functions which I've never used, but my housemate likes the versatility.
My only irritation with it is that it doesn't seem to default to show the clock, instead it shows "00:30" (as in 30 seconds, ready for you to press start - the more times you press, the more time it adds on to the cooking time). That's probably a setting I could change if I look at it hard enough.
Mine doesn't get hot on top, nor do I find it particularly loud. I do find it a little smug, sitting there with all its buttons ...

Coming from a Panasonic microwave oven, this doesn't really compare well. The 34L oven seems smaller than the Panasonic because this Breville is narrow & tall inside, which is less useful than Panasonic's wide & not-quite-so-tall design. The microwave oven itself is very loud compared with our previous Panasonic, but not a consistent loudness. It's loud for 10-20 seconds, then soft for another 10-20 seconds, then loud again, cycling consistently & annoyingly. And certainly don't put anything on top of this microwave oven. We used to store woode...
Read moren chopping boards on top of our Panasonic. Doing the same to this Breville would surely start a fire; the top gets just so hot! The top's temperature is okay without anything on top, but once something is placed there, it's dangerous. (The manual in small print says not to place anything on top except "Breville nominated chopping board", whatever that is.) Overall, not really recommended. I think there are better options out there.- Date Purchased

Bought this about 1 years ago and have no regrets! Looks sleek and shiny, definitely much more better looking than the pictures online. Smooth transition of door and newer functions are an extra bonus. Looks heavy from eyesight, but door is actually lightweight and sturdy. Definitely would recommend! Just does its job and works very well!

I wish there is zero stars.. Less than 2 years and it died. It will no longer warm anything. don't waste your money on it..you better get Panasonic or the Sharp. Or, if you are on tight on the Money try the Kmart unit.. you will get better service from it than this unreliable unit

This microwave is absolutely perfect, I bought this to replace a Russel Hobbs which I thought was great, but this one turned out to be far better than imagined.
Cook times are consistent, and I have noticed it seems to heat evenly as well, no more issues with food that is hotter than a thousand suns on the outside, but ice cold on the inside.
With the dial it is really easy for anyone to use and you can just spin it to add more time if needed.
The child lock function works as intended, and unlike the one I owned before, this one seems ...

As an added bonus, it looks really nice as well, I purchased the cranberry red one and it adds a nice pop of color to the kitchen. I absolutely love this microwave. It's very easy to use, even for my older children. Very easy included functions as well as the traditional manual methods of cooking, reheating and defrosting. I must admit, the smart functions are the most used in our household. Money well spent for my family.

I just needed a microwave to heat up left over meals, it's sturdy, well built and heat ups/defrosts food quickly and properly. It's easy to use with a knob that sets the time for you and it isn't any louder than your standard microwave. Great for any kitchen bench top.

Satisfied with this fancy red microwave with the handle. Easy/quick to use the knob which you can press or turn to set the time. It is not louder than the other ordinary microwaves, easy to clean, and with this fancy colour and the handle feature, we wouldn't slam the door shut which is a good thing.

Purchased a red one. Seems very sturdy with its stainless steel finish, and closing the door feels secure and loud. Cooks fast and evenly.
Settings are easy to use, although I find that the circular dial for time increases and decreases too quickly when wanting to heat for a specific amount of time. Easy to clean inside and out.

First of all I need to mention how great this unit looks, really looks the part and matches perfectly a number of other Breville items I have on my kitchen bench-top. Unfortunately it sounds like a truck and it vibrates on and off during the heating cycle but operates as it should. I've never heard a microwave sound like this before and it has taken quite some getting used to over the months of owning it. What makes up for it is the ease of use, the turn dial for both time and power are perfect which also allow changes to be made while the appliance is running. So double thumbs up for design and function, one thumb down for the noise it creates. If you can get one on special it would be well worth considering.

Despite being mad at Breville for their lack of quality control with the smart toaster, I decided to give them another chance and bought this microwave only because it was cherry red in colour. All is forgiven (for now) as it works beautifully. The initial reviews had me concerned about the noise factor but after experiencing it myself it's not that loud. Easy to use, love the design and button options. Its massive so if you don't have much kitchen space be prepared to make it a showpiece! Gorgeous colour and pleasant design, hasn't shown any visible wear and tear, I'm hoping it won't die on me like the toaster may it rest in peace

i am very impressed with this product and the price is quite reasonable. Definitely highly recommended. Appearance is good, very classic look, there are different functions, all categorised - you can choose between seafood, frozen meat, vegetables etc. There is no noise when operating, and it is energy efficient too.

We bought a Breville BM735 microwave from JB Hifi online June last year. Differ from traditional design, it has a handle to make the door open easier. It has good looking and the buttons are easy to operate. However it makes very loud, rough noise that you can hear from a far distance.

This is one of the best microwaves i have ever used. Was a bit skeptical about the knob ... but am really happy with the purchase. So easy to use and convenient.
Multiple options and setting available. Quick touch being my favourite. I would recommend this to anyone without any doubts.

Sorry Breville! You make a great blender but your microwave kinda sucks. The defrost mode just doesn't do anything. And the time dial does my head in, 30 sec, 1 min, 1 min 10 seconds, 6 mins! What the hell! It goes up way too fast and then you have to turn it back. When I microwave something I want it to happen fast. And it's not just the one we have that's not great, my house mate had the exact same one last year and it vibrated! The door made crazy sounds at like 3 months old... not great quality for the price.

It's great in looks which comes from unique design but unfortunately needs lot of patience to operate this oven. It's not easy to use as it's a bit tricky to use its features. It's quite loud and noisy especially if you are operating in the middle of the night. It's look attractive.

This microwave is very nice to use it has lots of features and very easy to program and it's easy to clean in the insight and love the red colour on the outside the insight is stainless steel and a glass turntable. The nicest feature of this microwave is the turn knobs a bit like old-fashioned but it's easy to use.

I have been very happy with this microwave so far. It looks great in the stainless steel and is easy to use. The door is a little flimsy feeling, would prefer a more solid feel but aside from that it has worked without any issues. Love being able to melt chocolate or defrost something perfectly with the smart functions.

Seems to heat the bowls more than our food (noticeably more so than our old microwave).
Vibrates loudly, and after a few minutes it gets louder and louder - incredibly loud if using for 7 minutes straight.
The functions are great, and I love the ability to adjust cooking power and time without having to stop it - perfect for popcorn :)

I was very happy with the quality of this unit, solid, functional, aesthetically pleasing. Worked great for 22 months, but suddenly stopped heating. Will not be buying Breville products again. My last microwave (Sharp) was cheap, and is still running after 14 years. I expected a lot more from this unit.

Purchased the Breville bmo735 microwave to go into a new black kitchen. Looks the part, but the door handle sits out front of the microwave. So if your after a flush finish, this isn't for you. The dial up - down timer is simple and easy to use. it's cooked/melted and softened as required. Not as loud as our last microwave, but not silent either.

This is a very good microwave! I would recommend this to anyone that would ask. The heating around is very very good, and it is also amazingly quite, and I must say, I wasnt excepting that with a $300 microwave. I have cooked many things and still holding up. The stainless steel is also very handly!
