Very good OE Tyres!
The D840 came as standard on my Chevy Colorado Z71 2014 and they are a very good tyre. I haven't had them long, so I don't know about durability. However in heavy rain they perform great and you feel like glued to the road. Don't understand the negative comments on the wet performance...
I have tried them off road as well (no mud bogging or rock climbing) on dry and muddy trails and they perform surprisingly well.

Great tyres for a 4WD Ute for General Purpose use
The tyres have been on a new Colorado diesel ute for 65,000 kms. They have performed well on long trips and around town and have been very satisfactory on short periods of serious 4WD tracks. They are quiet and the car handles well with them on. Now as the rears are close to needing replacement wet weather performance from the rear tyres has fallen off a bit. This only happened after about 60,000kms.

Happy with these
Pajero which tows 2.5 van about 50% of time. First set (original) 65,000 second set 55,000.
Quite happy, found to be reasonably quiet, and really good in the wet. Also have travelled some off road heavily corregated roads without any concerns. I am surprised at some of the negative comments.

horrible tyre in wet condition.
Have the Triton with this product, quite on the road and easy steering as well.
However it can be killed by wet condition, I have to switch 4H of my triton if driving on the raining days, thanks for triton comes with super select 4WD, otherwise I must to replace AT 265 to instead.

Dangerous in wet weather
These would have to be the worst tyres I have ever had, they were on my Triton when purchased, so I looked up the specs for them and they claim excellent in wet weather, so I thought thats good, will keep my young family safe, but that soon went out the window with the first wet road we come across. Bridgestone should be fined for false advertising, I have never felt so unsafe on the roads in the wet. Avoid at all costs

Worst wet weather tyre made
I have a brand new Mitsubishi Challenger so tyres are new and they are the Bridgestone HT and are down right dangerous in the wet. Bridgestone should be made to pay for tyre changes on all vehicles fitted with the HT tyre due to how dangerous they are in the wet. This needs to be taken further as i have already seen the same concern on this site with the exactly same car.

Worst wet road tyres ever
Have the Bridgestone Duellers AT on my Mitsubishi Challenger and consider myself to be a sensible cautious driver. I find that these tyres are not only noisy on the bitumen at any speed over 60klm but more importantly absolutely deadly in the wet. Had a vehicle suddenly change lanes in front of me causing me to serve to avoid an accident it was raining at the time and the roads were fairly wet.
Vehicle went into a almost uncontrolled drift as it floated across two lanes just lucky there was little traffic on the road at the time otherwise...Read more
there would have been a serious accident. I consider these tyres to be dangerous especially on roundabouts in the wet. I am well aware of the problem and drive very cautiously at all times but especially in the wet. When these tyres need replacing I will definitely not replace them with the same tyres but instead hunt around for a safer tyre irrespective of cost.Similar opinion? Pointless choice. Reasonable price and noise apart, excels on nothing
This HT840 tyres are amount the most popular OEM choices for utes and 4wd. They come stock on Mitsubishi, Isuzu, many Toyota, Holden, sometimes you even found them on Ranger/BT50. I had these tyres on my stock Triton GLX-R for a few months. I couldn't wait to upgrade to a better wheel and tyre package.
Partly due to the narrower width on Triton tyre spec (245/65/17 rather than the more popular 265/65/17 on most other rivals), the grip on dry road is just adequate. You need to be careful when you approach a corner, especially in wet. Mid cor...Read more
ner bumps can also be a worry as it is unable to retrieve grip instantly. The car may feel like it's floating other than rolling on the road. Don't tell me I should never drive fast in a one tonner. I can feel where the problem is from and I can corner a lot faster and safer on a set of good All terrains -- I don't drive too fast anyway, lots of tradies driving fully loaded $500 shxx utes overtaking me every day. As it was designed for HT you wouldn't expect too much from off road performance either. The treadwear grade on these tyres are only 300, which is not at all impressive in these kind of tyres. Most rivals come around 400-500. Although the actual wearing varies on how you drive and maintain the tyres. But still I can get a set of Kumho KL51 with 500+ treadwear grade for identical money. Yep, you guess right I did run a set of 2nd hand KL51 on my rear wheels for the last 15k. I wouldn't say the Kumho performs much better than the Dueler but I couldn't notice much wear difference on the Kumhos before and after. The good part of the Dueler is the ride and road noise, that's where the 2 stars came from. Apart from those and the price, the D840 is very ordinary. It's pointless to choose these tyres on a new car as they are not the cheapest nor better than anyone. There are better choices in the market that deserve to be put onto a new car from the factory. A Goodyear EfficientGrip is an all round superior alternative for only a fraction of more money.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Outstanding Highway Tyres for a large SUV
Purchased New Mitsubishi Challenger in May 2012 fitted with Bridgestone D840 highway tyres. Have now travelled 70,000 kms, rotating all 5 wheels each 15,000 kms. Outstanding wear and expect to get over 100,000 kms before replacement needed. Excellent steering, braking and stability in the wet and dry. All kms have been on sealed roads. Will definitely replace with Bridgestone ecopia when the time comes.

Deadly in the wet
$1600 wasted buying five tyres which have to be replaced. No issues on dry roads but deadly in the wet. I do not trust these tyres as they step sideways at the hint of rain, less than 30kph on a roundabout and the tail is stepping out. Towing 2500kg caravan. Back to Yokohama, Kelly or Mitchelin ltx/at2 for wet weather rating and ultimate safety

Good Road Tyre
Got them as OEM on my 2010 Triton GLX R 4x4 twin cab. After 73,000klms, mostly road, little rough 4x4 and some beach they are only just legal. Need to replace them now and was considering the exactly the same tyre profile etc. Seems like they want $370 a pop however the 265/65 - R17 (112S) are $240 a pop. Any ideas / feedback on why the wider tyre is cheaper

Good value. Not the best out there however.
OEM on Isuzu DMAX Good all round tyre. Have had 4 x 4s for thirty years with many different types of tyres. Agreed Nitos or Micky Thompsons or Cooper better tyre however the Bridgys can be bought for about $240 and thats nearly half the price of the others. They will do the 40,000km rated on the road and some off roading no problems. Have not had road noise issues or wet weather issues with these tyres (maybe its the DMAX!!!).

Very ordinary performer
I have had these on a ML triton 4x4 as OEM tyres and they are just terrible at everything, even when new with lots of tread they would spin in the wet
Would not even consider taking them off road
They also keep small rocks and mud in the tread

The worst of both worlds
These are rubbish. I had then on a Triton from new and they are slippery on a wet road and I managed to spit them on the gravel. If they were good on the highway I could understand they are no good for anything. It's been a few years since I had then but I kept the new spare tyre and old Toyo's A/T to sit my boat on it the backyard when I do trailer maintenance. The Toyos'are so much heavier and the Bridgestone just collapses under the boat's weight. If I bought a new Mitsubishi I would take it straight to a tyre retailer and change them. My Maxis 771's are excellent.
Nothing
Poor performance. Weak. Dangerous on the road

OEM on Pajero NT. Have done 30,000km and am guessing they will not make 40,000km. Noise level is not noticeable. Appear to handle ok.
Have been quoted $420 F&B by Mitsi dealer to replace them. I consider that way too pricey for a tyre that has a road life of say 35,000km.
Cooper AT 3 and Mickey Thompson equivalent are about $360 F&B and word of mouth has it that they
will give almost double the mileage.
Can't help thinking that Bridgestone aim these tyres at the ignorant who will only put on the car what it was supplied with and are thus over charging.
No problems. Seem safe and reliable.
Too short life.

Got them as OEM on my 2010 Triton GLX R. With the tread becoming sort of a challenge for the coppers (I think there was still 4,000km life in them!), I parted with them after 71,000 km. No puncture... Read more
ever. Never lost any air. Never a need for balancing them. Very smooth and silent. Excellent tire for the Triton and 80% blacktop travel. But when I compared the price with A/T's I was really shocked to find out what they cost. Just replaced them with A/T Goodyear Silent Armour.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

What is the difference between a Bridgestone dueler H/T 840 and a D840
1 answer
The reason I ask is because the D840 245/65r17 retails for $185 and the H/T 840 retails for $310.A significant difference ($500 if 4 tyres) and they have a similar tread pattern.
harry pendletonasked
what does H-T stand for?

I think it stands for Highway Terrain, ( more highway than terrain). Terrible tyre in wet conditions, only got 40,000 Klm out of them.

ance and handling on highway is excellent. Improvement in wet weather conditions but primarily because tyres are new with full tread depth. Drove through Omeo roads on New Years day where the water on the road was running at an inch depth in parts and all motorbikes were pulled over because of heavy rains and water on the road.
