Not drying
Clean Protect Low SheenI am a contractor we painted a wall at 9pm next morning 7am centre was busy and got people now claiming of getting messed with paint after 10hrs paint never dry
Poor Coverage
Clean Protect Low SheenAs I was after a 10 litre tin and was hoping to save a few dollars a staff member recommended British paints . If only I had spent the extra.
I’m painting the back area of our house, a few rooms which are a depressing neutral light beige.
I purchased a white colour called Lovenote.
I’ve had to paint 3 coats which is ridiculous .
White over a light beige?Evn the 3 coats there’s a bit of streakiness which I’ve gone over again.
I prepped the walls, stirred paint well .
Such a waste of time and money. Spend the extra, Wattyl is 100% better

Good product
Clean Protect Low SheenI’m a professional painter with 30 years experience. I used this paint for the first time to paint a bathroom, and I can honestly say I was very impressed. Great coverage, low odour and cheaper than dulux and taubmans. Not quite sure why there are some very bad reviews.
Garbage.
Clean Protect MattBought this last week for use in my snake enclosure as recommended in our local store. I specifically stated I needed a mark resistant paint. 4 coats so far, surface prepped as recommended by Bunnings and British Paints website. Can still see how thin and patchy it is, and the wood underneath! Paint has had more than 48 hours to dry. Gently touched it and it left a finger print. Tried to gently wipe off, only to spread the mark. The paint has begun to chip already. Absolute crap product. Stick to brands like Dulux, even when someone recommends this product in store. Really angry about this.

Hi Lucy, I appreciate the response, however there are similar reviews all over the place. The paint is dry, but the tiniest touch, and it cracks. It was a project with my son, so I didn’t want to eras
... Read moree the work we had done - and have now covered it in a clear waterproofing membrane. I had three more bits just fall off last night while gently using a roller. The enclosure is enormous so we have had to do this inside the house, so temperature and humidity hasn’t been the issue here either. Our home is sitting at 25c at all times. I have considered reinstalling the heating globes to speed up the process, buuuut it will just chip more. 4 coats of clear pond sealant now over the top, so it shouldn’t budge at all. Surface is standard melamine sheeting. This was washed down with warm water (no soap) the day before beginning. Then, I used a “no sanding” prep chemical according to the directions on that. The shiny coating of the melamine was porous at this point. I removed any excess residue from that chemical and waited the prescribed 90 minutes before applying first coat. We gave 2 hours in between coats. A fifth coat was applied with over 24 hours between. It still wipes off. The pond sealant has gone on now (4 coats) and has solidified, so hopefully the nightmare is over. There are some unpleasant streaks and scratches where the original surface is still visible, but we have given up now. My carpet python is not happy in his temporary accomodation and needs to return to his tank as soon as possible (7 days for curing of pond sealant).

Garbage.. will take 4 or 5 coats to cover
Clean Protect Low SheenThis paint should be labelled as see through. Four coats will give you a poor result. Be prepared to do at least five coats for coverage. And thats going over a similar light colour.

Should be discontinued
Clean Protect Low SheenThis must be about the worst paint we've ever bought. We wanted to cover a few little marks and imperfections on a white wall, but this paint left the wall worse than before we started. Everything had a brownish discolouration and the surface was very uneven - despite it being an extremely thin paint! British Paints should trash all remaining stocks and take this off the market as I can't see how it could be fit for any purpose. Furthermore, if the few glowing reviews are to be believed then this paint is of an especially inconsistent quality.

Avoid this paint
Clean Protect MattThis is the most appalling, shoddy garbage I have ever used. I was talked into buying it by the clown in Bunnings Albury. After three coats it still has streaks, and blotches and uneven coverage. Avoid at all costs buy another brand.

Perfect and easy to apply
Clean Protect Low SheenI used this in a bedroom. Having read the reviews, I was little cautious but this paint is perfect. The viscosity is just right, not too thick and not runny.
... Read moreVery thick and significant colour variations
Clean Protect Low SheenBritish Paints, Clean & Protect, Walls, Low Sheen, Brown/Orange. I found the paint very thick and spent about 10 mins stirring to very little effect, so I resolved that this must be normal for this paint. My main frustration was that any overlaps with the brush or roller (I used both), resulted in a darker variation to the other sections of the painted wall. After 4 x re-coats, the variation in colour was becoming more significant, and so I stopped and used a different brand, which spread much easier and gave me a consistent colour spread throughout the wall. In contrast, I had also purchased a can of British Paints H2O Enamel with the exact same colour (for another part of the house) and that painted on perfectly.

Clean Protect Low SheenBought british paints for the first time as we selected one of their colours for our newly renovated laundry. The colour we selected is a super super light blue which is going over an off white colour so you would think coverage would be great, WRONG! The 2 litre tin should have done 2 coats with some to spare but we have barely gotten one coat on and the tin only has a quarter left. So disappointed that now we have to go and buy more and do it all over again.

Very good paint
Clean Protect Low SheenI bought 15 litres of the low sheen to do a ceiling. Got a professional painter to do the job. He used a long nap roller. One coat was pretty much sufficient, but he put two on. It had to cover a few marks and grubby looking 35 year old off white paint. it did not take long to dry, and the smell was gone in a day, in cool weather, which is a great relief as I have problems with chemical smells. Did a great job, I would recommend it.

Clean Protect Low SheenPurchased 6 litre and have just finished my 4th coat on new plaster. Prepared using Dulux primer. Watery, shiny, streaky and has to be the worst paint I have ever used, and I have painted 3 houses. I used high quality brushes and rollers. I chose BP due to the slight cost savings against Dulux, which I have always used, and which I've never had a problem. Now I have the added cost of repainting the room with Dulux or Taubmans., and re hiring a painter, the cost blowout is substantial especially when your 60+ and on a pension.
