Great fridge
Bought for $50 from some German backpackers.. Only had low lid and no collar. The internal of the fridge at the bottom had been cracked as there was no baskets and it had got water or fluid into the insulating foam, so it smelled bad and couldn't get rid of the smell. Spoke to Paul in Victoria, bought a new housing, extension collar and two baskets... Changed it all over myself and it hasn't been off for over a year now, lives in the ute or the shed always got coooooold beer. An awesome design will be buying another for the camper so we can run a fridge and freezer...

A real freezer or fridge.
I love it, it cools down fast, so quiet I really don't hear it running, and energy efficient. Lcd is so easy to read although it would help if it was a bit on an angel. After sales service and support is spot on. I'm buying another one. For my other 4x4.

Excellent fridge, great service
I recently purchased the Bushman SC35-52 after considering the many other brands currently available. I had been using a thermoblock style fridge which consumes too much power and doesn't really perform well at all. The Bushman requires only a fraction of the power that my old fridge used and most importantly, it works really well. The lower profile ensured that it would fit in my camper van without compromising space. The after sales service from DP Refrigeration in Research, Victoria is tremendous. They are easy to contact and will resolve your questions and concerns quickly.

Fantastic fridge, fantastic service
We have owned our Bushman for over 10 years. She has traveled in the back of the ute to Cape York, and many other trips as well as our camper trailer fridge. Recently it wouldn't start. The lights showed we had power going to the unit but the compressor wouldn't start. I phoned HO in Research, Victoria and they first suggested maybe the batteries had given out (I know that the newer units do not have batteries). As they didn't solve the issue, we looked further & saw that the circuit board had corroded. One email to Bushman, one phone call and ...Read more
the new board arrived next day ($99 including postage), with all parts needed to replace the old one, and very good simple instructions.Replaced everything, plugged her in, and our old fridge went from 24C to 6C in a couple of minutes, and rapidly getting colder. Thank you Bushman for your great product, and fantastic back up/after sales service. Highly recommended.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

15 years serviice no problems
This fridge does excelent cooling and freezing whatever I need in the back of my 4x4 for 15 years. 40 litres easy to transport and holds drinks, fish, meat and icecream. Travels all over Oz as a son now lives in Darwin.
Now holds 50 littes with the addition of a collar to increase capacity, no problems.

bushman fridge freezer
Hi I'm Ted after selling bushman fridges for many years along with lots of other brands, the bushman fridge was my go to fridge to sell first, for no other reason than it was the best fridge and the most reliable one never had any trouble with them no come backs at all, the only thing that came back was words of how happy the customer was with the bushman, i have owned two of them the first one i sold my mate it's 16 years old and has not missed a beat and like me when it's not in his 4x4 it's in his shed as his beer fridge, my second one has a...Read more
lso not missed a beat, and when i bought that one it came with two lids high and low lid and also a add on that would let you have the fridge at 35 lt 42 lt and 52 lt, so i could build it up or down in size and also have it freezing in the bottom and the things up the top in small baskets would just refridge, such a great ideas, in a nut shell just the best fridge i have owned bar none and i have had most of the big brands, and we do a lot of off road work the bushman, it's been in a lot of rough stuff and no problem and one thing more you can sleep next to it its that quiet, so if your looking for a great fridge you have to look at the bushman, i have been retired for 6 years now so i can't sell you one lol, happy caravaning with your bushman, Ted.1 comment

Great fridge, great service
Had Bushman SC35-52 since 2011 and very happy with it. Very versatile and it does a tremendous job. Noticed in early 2016 that it did not start when car wasn't running and determined that it cut out at 12.6V . It was starting fine when the car was running and it ran fine on 240V. Rang manufacturer in Research, Victoria and they said to come over with all the bits so they could test it. Went there the next day they did all the testing and I watched the whole process. Determined that the board which controls the thermostat was at fault. Exchanged the board (unfortunately out of warranty by several years) for $80 and explained to me all the workings. Confident now to do any repair jobs/replacements myself if I need to.

Simplely the best service I have ever had.
I have owned my Bushman for seven years with no problems . Had a small problem with my fridge last month and I rang Paul in Victoria for advice and he helped diagnose the problem and sent the appropriate part the same day. I installed this when I received it. Fixed the fault and it is now working fine. I couldn't be happier with the service I received from Paul at Bushman's.

Great product and great service
I purchased an SC35 around 15 Years ago and it is still going strong. On a couple of occasions there has been minor problems and the service (both in Sydney and Perth) has been second to none. As I spend time in remote locations I need my fridge to be totally reliable. Bushman quality means that I expect it to keep working which is a great confidence booster when you are outback.

Unequivocally the best portable fridge on the market
I've had my Bushman for almost 2 years. When I bought it, I had looked at WAECO, ENGEL and EVA Kool. Not going to bag any of those because I haven't used or owned one. What I can tell you about is the Bushman. Best features for me: It draws very little power on 12V. Specs say 16amp/h per day. I get through about 18amp/h per day. This means my battery lasts for ages. Next, I love the ability to change the size of the fridge. At 35 litres it would fit perfectly in the camper trailer. When we arrived at our destination, we extend it to 5...Read more
2 litres and put it on a stand. Also, knowing the Danfoss compressors, I am happy to have these stalwarts working my fridge. My fridge has run almost continuously since buying it. It runs just as well on 240 and it does on 12 V. I did have a small problem within the first week of getting it to do with the panel light. Faulty globe. I took it out to Len in Serpentine south of Perth and he fixed it on the spot in a couple of minutes. No problems ever since. Finally, after almost 2 years, I contacted the Company to get some advice regarding running it off an Anderson Plug. Paul Kottmann was great, advised me what I needed and sent the original Bushman Cord with Anderson Plug to me. Took 3 days to get to WA from Vic. More power options and flexibility. I highly recommend these fridges. Made in Australia. Customer service is great. Performance is exceptional. Versatility cannot be compared. Power usage best of all fridges - just look at the tech specs. It works well as a freezer and a fridge combined. Comes with 3 baskets to separate the cold levels. Comes with covers but I have never used them and have actually not seen the need yet. In storage until required. How much - I paid $1295 and I think they are still the same price as at 12 Feb 16. AWESOME PIECE OF KIT I CANNOT BE WITHOUT WHEN CAMPINGSimilar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Looked into available camping fridge/freezers and discovered the Bushman.Won hands down. Originally after a smaller one than we have in the car. These are made in Oz, the price is set by manufacturer, it's on the brochure, and you get 3 different sizes in one. There are no extras to buy and they work! Price is very favorable when comparing the other big brands for the capacity. Ours sits under the awning and the last week has been filthy hot and humid in Townsville and "his" beers are perfect. Love the baskets so I don't unpack it every time I g...Read more
et something out. It is a must to check these out if you are in the market, you may have to contact Bushman's to find a local dealer, not in all the camping/ 4X4 outlets. Absolutely no regrets with this purchase. Yet to hear a bad report. Made in Oz for Oz conditions.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Long term satisfied customer
We bought our Bushman approximately 18 years ago from an agent on the Gold Coast. Our youngest child was around 3 years old and is now 21. The fridge has performed brilliantly in all that time . It lives in the back of our patrol 4x4 and gets hammered on extreme 4x4 outings and weekend camps. It can sit dormant for a month or so and then get used every weekend for the next 4 months. We have upgraded our patrol 5 times but still have the original Bushman. On one instance the car was on a steep track on its side and although hearing some horribl...Read more
e gurgling noises from the compressor still performed well when vehicle was recovered. The only issues we have had is the lead slipping out of the socket on severely corrugated road during an Endeavour Rally and just recently the little computer fan failed but for $10 an easy fix. Would recommend to anyone. We have just upgraded our patrol for touring with a van and will be putting a new Bushman in it and the original into the rally truck.Similar opinion? Bushman 35/52 - Super efficient, user friendly
Our Bushman fridge - mounted on the tray of our L/Cruiser ute, has been versatile (multiple capacities ) robust, simple to use, very efficient and its performance in extreme temperature and terrain conditions instils confidence in using it. - Excellent product . - (Our "outback " travel experience covers 35 years - and "a few fridges....") Bushman's "backup service, info. and spare parts " appears to be excellent as well but, baring accidents, we cannot see that we will ever need it.

Bushman - A company that still makes them like they used to!
I have a Bushman fridge that has been going strong for 13 years. It's rock solid, virtually indestructible and handles everything you throw at it. I use it regularly for camping, road trips, day trips and with the extension collar it easily satisfies the demands of a large family with 4 kids. Don't be fooled, this thing is well designed. It is very efficient to run on 12v and has no issues in keeping food cold or frozen in high ambient temperatures.
Besides the build quality, I found the main differentiator between Bushman when compared to...Read more
Waeco/Engel to be the superior support that Bushman provides. Absolutely second to none! The guys at Bushman go above and beyond to ensure their customers are satisfied and are always there to assist whenever you need help. When you call, you talk to a tech service team that know their stuff, which is a far cry from the representatives that you speak to when purchasing from larger stores. Couple this with the fact that I can still get spare parts for a model that is 13 years old shows how serious these guys in looking after their customers. When it is time to upgrade, I'll be going straight for another Bushman as its a proven product that just "simply works". It does everything I expect of a fridge, and reliably.Similar opinion? Best On The Market Hands Down
Brilliantly versatile fridge. The extra lids are literally the best thing since sliced bread and allow you stack tons of stuff in there. Tough outside, market top condensor.
We've had ours 2 years. The only problem we've had is one of the clasps came loose due to me dropping a rock RIGHT on it. They sent me a replacement part no questions, no fuss, no cost. Fantastic service.
After 2 years she still whisper quiet. Still only draws a few amps to get down to -3 in a QLD summer. Still the best.

Brilliant versatile fridge.
We have owned a Bushman fridge for several years. A great fridge and rapidly and economically fixed when we had a gliche with the thermostat. However, today we were totally blown away by the service of Bushman. We needed a replacement part and were provided with it free of charge and they would not even let us pay postage - we have told several friends and they wont believe we got this service. What a great Aussie company - now we will boast even more about our gem - thank you for making our day.
The biggest problem we have with the fridge is convincing our sons that they need to buy their own.

Gday, had this fridge for years and hasn't missed a beat, till now the power light is on and displays the current temp but the compressor won't kick in at all, suggestions?

Hi Justin, I also have owned mine for years and the exact same thing happened yesterday. Compressor won’t kick in but it is displaying the temp. I’m a sparky by trade, checked the connections to the controller/module next to the compressor and they were all good.
Dc supply was reading 13.3v from the car and also tried 240v supply and had 13.6v at the fridge from the transformer.
Not sure what is going on...
Must be thermostat
Bushman FridgesBushman Fridges
Hi Guys,
Check the incoming current on the back of the control panel. This needs to be done at the exact second the compressor tries to start. If it drops below 11V for an instance the compressor will try to start then stop.
If the current is good, try the toggle switch on the back of the control panel. If you switch it to ON, does the compressor run continuously? If so, you will need to replace the thermostat. Either way once you have done this, give us a call 03 9437 0737 and we can work out what to do next.
Thanks, Tom. BUSHMAN.

What is the max Watts for the Bushman Fridge SC35. I'm looking to run it on a generator and currently doing homework before I purchase either. Also what is the best way to link the fridge to a generator. Looking to buy a Yamaha Inverter generator.
1 answer
Bushman FridgesBushman Fridges
Hi Jane, The Original Bushman Fridge will draw maximum 60watts when it first starts. The wattage will drop over time as the compressor speed reduces. Most often customers would run the fridge from a 12V battery and use a smart charger to maintain the battery from the generator. This way you will not need to run the generator all the time.
