Terrible scanning - get another MFC (probably not canon if this is representative) as it just should
The scanning is not intuitive and it is unnecessarily hard to do - definitely don't recommend it to others as you will spend hours trying to tell them how to do it if you can be bothered spending the time in obscure websites trying to work it out. The manual does not tell you how to scan. The hardware scan buttons send you to some of the worst software ever (the only way I have found to scan after looking online at many sites). This is the minimum scanning utility you would expect: 1) Pushing the scan button on the MFC should scan the document ...Read more
on it using default settings and the PC should open up with the scanned image and an option of where to save it. 2) the user manual should have 'how to scan' or 'scanning' as a topic with step by step instructions (the less the better). 3) Having a software icon called 'scan' that when pushed scans the document on the MFC using default settings and opens up the software with the scanned image giving you the option where to save. None of this happens on the MX926. If this is representative of canon MFCs or scanners, get another brand.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!
Bad choice, will do more research next time, expected it to be as good as my last one.
Just bought this printer, it has plenty to offer but nothing I can use to do my work or projects. Not able to add my prints to page, only when you use their templates. The printing is very poor colour quality. Refills are ridiculously priced, cheaper to just throw it away and buy new one (not good for landfill). I'm so sad my other Canon has stopped working it was the best one ever. Next time I find a good printer, I'm buying two of them. So disappointed.

Avoid this printer.
Bought this printer from JB HiFi in Jan 2014 for $196. Previously owned HP printer and got more than 5 years out of it. This Canon printer has only be used for for normal home use- maybe 5 per week on average and I have now got the Error Message 1403- "the type of print head is incorrect- install the correct print head. Read up online on workarounds for this error and nothing works.

Great multifunction unit...
Great office printer, also prints CDs, functionality is great. Multiple auto feeder pages scanning. We own canon previously (similar) to this model, as we needed it for our admin jobs and CD printing. We've never had any problems... Eventually it stop functioning (the old unit) after few years... Great unit

Dreadful. Temperamental. Atrocious software package.
This is the most temperamental printer I have owned - often get the B200 error message, (but fortunately have managed to clear them) - now have the 1403 error message - "Type of print head is incorrect - install the correct print head". Seems this error message is one you can't get past, so the printer is stuffed. Built-in obsolescence on the part of Canon, I suspect. It is noisy, takes ages to wake itself up and is heavy on ink. Refill prices are the high end of the usual rip-off ink cartridge prices. Was not able to get the wifi to connect.

Ok
Have had this printer for almost a year now. I use it at least three times a week for basic printing and scanning. Easy to use without a manual. Reliable and never had any issues with it. The cartridges are very expensive - but seems to be the standard price for most printers.

So much more... Yet so very much less...
I have always had Canon printers; the last one being the MX850.
Not the perfect printer or scanner, but quite OK for a small business.
Apart from the standard A4 cassette tray, it has an open rear paper feed tray which is extremely handy and versatile and enables any single item to be loaded in one or two seconds and then printed; items like an envelope, a cheque, a cheque deposit slip, date stamping of single documents or loading a used paper for printing on the back, rather than using a new sheet from the casstette, etc..
When my MX850...Read more
after about 10 years started to have some problems, I bought the MX926 over the internet. My fault; although I did research printers, I assumed the second cassette could be used for envelopes and I also did not realize that it had no rear tray for various sized individual items and quick loading... big mistake and agony! The most commonly used envelope, DL, don't fit into the second cassette, so now, having printed a letter, I have to; 1> pull out the A4 cassette on the MX926, 2> take out the paper, 3> insert a single envelope, 4> adjust the guides to line up the envelope, 5> print the envelope, 6> open the cassette, 7> readjust the guides to suit A4 paper, 8> put the paper back in, 9> then close the cassette for the next page to be printed! Considering printing an envelope, for example, was just a matter of dropping it into the rear tray on the MX850, then print... (What in the world is Canon thinking when they apparently are no longer incorporating, as far as I can tell, the rear tray on any of their new printers?)Similar opinion? Good all rounder for the price
Onto my 2nd MX926. First one lasted about 3 1/2 years then started getting a B200 error which I couldn't fix after going through all the possible resolution steps on the internet. Seems wasteful to have to throw out, but a new print head was about $90 and new printer $160 (JB) so may as well buy new with warranty.
Use the printer for printing and scanning (not faxing, copying or CD printing). It can take a while to "warm up" before the first print. Flat bed scanning is fine. The ADF can skew horribly unless you put it on maximum scan resolu...Read more
tion, which slows it down but reduces the skewing. Never had jams with either printing or the ADF. Overall, some minor frustrations but it does everything I want. After the first one died, I did look at other brands/alternatives but nothing stood out as being any better for my needs. So with left over MX926 ink I decided to go with the same printer again.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!
Worst printer I have ever owned
Unreliable. Expensive ink. Have to replace all ink even when one cartridge runs out. Internal paper jams are next to impossible to unclog. Avoid like a child with chickenpox. The scanning software is terrible. Slow as a wet week to print. Error codes make no sense. Canon's 'help' videos suck. I gave up and bought a brother instead.

A good printer...but
I was initially very pleased with the Canon Pixma MX926. Easy set up, quick print.it is bluetooth and thus was perfect for my needs
Then about two months after having it, it refused to print, claimed it couldnt connect...then it started telling me I didnt have any ink in it, no black no colors.this would be incorrect for the simple fact, I hadn't even used any of the colors.Im just annoyed with it now as the ink is not cheap.
Dissapointed.

Does not print from previous created Canon Disk Labels
I purchased the MX926 solely to print to CD disk (all that was available at the store at the time) but it is useless unlike the previous software that used to come with Canon printers that printed to disk "CD Label Print" you cannot use covers you created previously in the print program there is no blank template. Tried label print and My Image Garden neither worked for existing labels, I rang canon Australia twice spoke to 2 different people first person emailed me a canon manual "Printing Disk Labels" again useless you have to use Canon Templ...Read more

I own 4 other Canon printers and never had a problem till I updated, also the previous CD Label Print software does not work with this printer. This printer will be going to a new home. I am off now to the shops, after buying over the years about 8 Canon inkjet printers and other laser ones it is Time to convert to Epson printer. Back again got a fix. Also failed after 2 years
Worked OK most of its life for printing, although the scanning software is terrible - often wanted to scan multi-page document but saved each page as new pdf. Using MacOS. And document feeder didn't work for scanner, only copier.
But last month it just failed to turn on. No obvious reason why, and no ability to troubleshoot (plugged in, and not a sign of life). Now I have lots of spare ink to unload...

06/03/2018 Update
This printer failed to work with error 6900 2 weeks out of 1 year warranty period. Canon support doesn't care... It can not be economically repaired.... so, it turned into 12kg piece of junk.
The MX870 we had for many years had finally failed. We could not print in colour. I even managed to get into settings by using Service Tool, reset everything, clear the EEPROM… but it was still printing only black and white. The brand new printhead did not make any difference.
We decided to get MX926 because of its cheap price a...Read more
nd cheap extended 2-year replacement warranty we got from Bing Lee. The important features for us are a duplex scanning and printing and a solid performance we come to expect from MX870. The MX926 will go through cleaning cycle every time you turn it ON (same as MX870) and then again if you send something to print. The nice and user-friendly MX870 MP Navigator scanning application is gone; now replaced with clunky, chopped-up into pieces application that is very bad - unbelievable! But, once set correctly, it will produce same scan results as MX870.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Failed after 2 years
This printer has a lot of desirable features but unfortunately the printer died just a few months after the warranty ended. The printer gives a vague error message and doesn't allow access to any of it's functionality (printing/scanning..). Have done factory resets, print head cleaning, etc.. It seems designed to fail.

Very average printer
I havent got a problem with the print quality. My problem with this printer is that it is extremely slow, very noisy and frequently crashes or doesnt respond. It has been unacceptable from day one and I will return to laser printers once this one really bites the dust. Not happy.

printing fine but everything else just continues to be subpar
Printing don't have any issues, yes uses lots of ink but quality is great
scanning function is beyond horrible. Takes 3-5 minutes per page.... PER PAGE!!!!!! to scan
have to get other software to really be able to change or modify resolution or document size.
I would not recommend this printer for scanning on my worst enemy. Every time I think of scanning I just picture the Office Space movie because I would love to toss this out the window and smash it to bits. Each year I ask for bestbuy gift cards or a new printer in hopes I will finally be able to do this!

Problem. Using too much ink.
When I purchased my printer from Cancalc they told me to leave it turned on. This saves a lot on ink usage. It will go to sleep & wake up when a print job is sent to it. If you power it off & then power it on it will do a heavy deep clean as it doesn't know how long it was off for. This is necessary to keep the heads functioning correctly. SO DON'T TURN IT OFF, EVER.

Good for two years only
This machine I bought on a wonderful special, though I didn't need all of the features, it takes awhile to start up once turned on to print but once it does, it prints wonderfully, everything it prints - documents, photos, etc. it also prints directly onto blank cd's and dvd's too, which is a feature I love but, like a previous canon model, only lasted me two years, in this case, it now needs a new printer head, to have this fixed, $165! That's more than what I paid for it on the fantastic special when I originally bought it! I hope to find som...Read more
eone, who I can give this to, who can do the labour themselves, and pay the $110 for a new printer head, and they will then have a wonderful machine, that's because, the horror in the repair woman's voice, when I said, I'll just have to throw this machine out now! She said NO!! It's too good, etc. now, I'm going to buy another printer - after researching, another canon model, as I love way it prints colour, this time round, I'm going to pay for an xtra 2 year warranty, the way these machines have been going. I'll be getting a new machine almost every two years for free!!! I just can't keep affording to buy a whole new printer every two years and this warranty gives me a store voucher of the price I paid!!! My original canon lasted over 10 years, but the ones since, lucky if I get just over two years, the warranty that comes with this machine is only for 1 year, so suppose, getting two years is one more year than they guarantee however, with such a machine and with the canon brand, I would expect it to have lasted longer. What a waste to throw these away so often!!! In reading other reviews of this model, I'm not alone, with this model, needing a new printer head, if it had been cheaper, I might have got it fixed myself. I did with a previous model, only to have it go again, with a new problem a year later, too expensive to keep fixing myself hence the all up 3 year warranties, I'm going to buy from now on!!!Similar opinion? Bulky but similar to previous version
Just purchased and think it seems pretty good so far, Had canon printers for past 20 years, just recently put down MX715 and MX870 both had smaller opening for printed work to the front, this is quite a lot larger, opening the full width of the printer. No print tray to the back may be a problem as found that handy in previous models however there is a smaller print tray above larger one so this should cover that issue and now I can put right up against the wall. Has compatible ink available so can avoid the over inflated prices of the original ink.... optimistic, this should be a good buy.... :)
