Coles dont get it!
Hi
I have been using catlux flushable now for a few months when i noticed Coles at Elizabeth sold it i felt really good that my local store was selling items that were of great quality, easy to use safe for the environment and catlux is a product that sits above the rest as it doesnt smell, doesnt clump and is easily disposed of in the toilet like the rest of our business, no smelly bins accumulating outside it is simply the best product on the market for all cat lovers. Coles obviously cant tell the difference between what should be sold and...Read more

Cat Cleanliness
My wife and I are users of Catlux Softwood Clumping litter.
We have had many years of experience in looking after cats and kittens which necessitated the use of " kitty litter".
Some of the older styled products were messy, smelly and did not live up to expectation of the advertised results.
Having acquired a new kitten, recently, we went looking for a good " kitty litter, " at our local supermarket, and found Catlux. Tongue in cheek we read up on the goods description, and said " Let's hope this stuff works."
We have been using the produ...Read more
ct for some 7 months now, and have found that it lives up to its name by doing what is claimed. Cleaning is very easy, smell reduction excellent, clumping excellent which make daily maintenance very easy and mess free and flushes in the toilet beautifully, leaving no residuals. Generally speaking this product does, in our opinion, exceed its advertised claims and is inexpensive. Our greatest problem in acquiring the product, in that our local Coles Supermarket has dumped Catlux from its shelves???? and sell other varieties which don't measure up. My wife and I are bringing a Bengal Kitten up to be an indoor cat, and live with two Jack Russell Terriers, hence the absolute need for top quality " kitty litter " --- Catlux Softwood Clumping litter. The two dogs do not cats litter box, which in itself is quite something. Anyway, back to hunting for supplies, have established that Pet Barn and Woollies stock the Catlux Brand, so why have Coles dumped it?????

Australian Made & Owned
I've used this product for years, and my cats adapted to it like no other. The product does what it says, it clumps, it absorbs odours, and virtually no excess waste. Australian made & owned so will always be my first and only choice. A simple, well priced, but superior product compared to others.
I had some product queries, and I received an immediate response from Catlux, excellent customer service.
My local Coles has stopped stocking it, in replacement for a more expensive, imported product. So I will now show at Woolworths.

The BEST EVER cat litter I have ever used!
Have had indoor cats for over 13 years and have used Catlux for past 4 since I discovered at Coles...amazing product that ticks all my boxes! Sustainable wood based, smells like sawdust, soft on paws (unlike crystals...),lightweight, fantastic odour control, clumping so easy to remove solid and wet waste (verses leaving it sit and fester as with crystals...) and reasonably priced compared to other products which are twice as much for half the performance!!! ONLY neg is that it tracks but they all do.
As per review fantastic product and at a supermarket near me!!

Cats love it!
In my opinion this litter has some stand out qualities that lift it well above its competitors. 1. cats love it and use it, it is odorless and it doesn't clog the toilet. OK because of its lightness it is a bit messy, but it is easy to clean. My cats haven't used other litters and that is the most important thing to me, that they feel comfortable using the litter and therefore are less likely to delay toilet needs until they go outside which isn't good for them.
the cats like it and use it and it doesn't matter if some of it goes down the toilet
a bit light so can get messy but I wouldn't change that because the cats may not like it as much then

Better than paper pellets
I was using the recycled paper (natural, less chemical, flushable) before and Obi had two "accident" not using the tray. Instead he just defecate on the kitchen floor next to the tray. I reckon the recycled paper didn't absorb the odour very well and Obi doesn't like it. Now I tried Catlux Softwood (natural, less chemical, flushable) and so far so good!
light weight, clump really well, odor control
A bit dusty when scooping, tracks everywhere as it is very light weight but can be minimised by putting matt near the tray.

Messier than the cats!
I initially thought the idea of this cat litter was fabulous until I actually tried it. The cats tracked it everywhere! I tried using less litter, more litter - it didn't matter, it still went everywhere. I really persisted with Catlux for a few months, almost willing it to work but it just failed - dismally. Shame really as it smells nice.
Nice wood smell
Went revolting very quickly, tracked everywhere.

Best kitty litter we have used!
What I love about this kitty litter is that it can be flushed down the toilet! Seriously it is my favourite part. It clumps well, is natural and easy to use. The cat likes it and has down for 3 years now. We used it with our older cat as well.
Can flush down the toilet

Fantastic product,
I have used Catlux for a few years now and have found it to be best of all products tried.
I asked about the little balls apparently the went to a new factory and had some glitches which have been worked out. I find it a great product and will keep using it.
Engery efficient and inexpensive.. easily disposed of.

Can't live without it
I have been buying Catlux for a number of years and have never looked back. I tried a variety of other kinds of litter including recycled paper until Catlux was recommended to me. There are 3 cats in our house and one is particularly difficult with using litter, but she just loves Catlux and uses the litter. It hides all the smells and lasts for ages. All litter tracks no matter what kind you use, but at least you don't trip over tracked Catlux. It is Australian owned and produced from a natural resource. It just ticks all the boxes. Not what it was
I used this for a long time in a multi-cat household and recommended it to everyone, it was fantastic. Around the time of the Queensland floods it got hard to get but I contacted the manufacturer and he was extremely helpful by allowing us to get it directly from him. Unfortunately that first batch didn't clump but after a phone call we swapped our bags for a new batch. This lot worked fine but the next lot once again wouldn't clump.
Sadly I can't support the product any more as it simply doesn't do the job.
Inexpensive and the owner really was helpful
Doesn't clump leaving the litter box smelling

Thanks for your comment, I saw an ad 2 for 1 for this stuff and it sounded great, but after the reviews here i'll skip it! It's always a pity when products go down hill especially when they are local!
I use the product and it is the best product I've used, it is not for all cats but it has no smell and clumps really well.
I agree. It was an excellent, environmentally friendly product, but no it's too coarse to clump. Won't be using it again. Very disappointing.

Best on the market
I have used this product for 5 years and had a problem a few months back, I emailed the company and owner replied and sent me 2 bags the same day, it was the best service ever the product worked great again, maybe with natural materials it does not always go they way you want, but it is made in Australia and employs Australians so I will support it, keep up the good work Catlux!
Smells great, clumps well, flush small amounts
Not always in shelf

Mixed feelings
Our old cat had bowel problem and refused the litter tray with other paper litters - loved this one. However over last few months it became coarser and she wasn't as happy using it. If I removed the pee quickly it didn't clump as well either. I have new kitten reared on paper litter, breeder recommended we used it as clumping litters caused health problems. I hate the paper stuff - hard to clean and dis-integrates. Concerned about health effects of any dust if I use the Catlux again.
Lack of smell and easier to clean. Didn't track as much as paper stuff.
Expensive, not always available, now coarser than before.

Excellent product
We have been using Catlux for over 4 years, and we have found nothing better. Keeps the odour down, it clumps very well, which means there's less wastage when cleaning the tray out. Best thing about it is that the cats are very comfortable using it! Overall a great Aussie product :)
cost efficient, environmentally friendly, reliable

I too purchased Catlux litter. For 9 years it was an excellent product but last year it stopped clumping. I telephoned the company and was promised the fault would be rectified by mid november. It is now may 2012 and it is still the same. A company like this that treats it's loyal customers with such disdain does not warrant support. In fact, I would urge all customers to ring the company and make a formal complaint about the false advertising on the packaging.
It doesn't do what it's supposed to do

Not as good as it was.
I've previously written a review for this product as I loved it. Sadly they seem to have changed the formula. In the last few months it has become a little chunkier and less fine. The problem is though, that it no longer clumps so when you try to remove the pee from the litterbox it just crumbles and mixes in with all the other clean litter.
I expect this to happen when I buy cheap home brand litter, but for the price of this I really want it to clump a little bit. I found I was having to change the whole litter box constantly and it got very expensive.

Catlux is a superior litter that clumps, absorbs and retains it's freshness.
It also doesn't require an Olympic athlete to tote a bag to the car.
Try it!
Catlux is a superior product that does everything the company says.
Due to the shortages resulting from the QLD floods we were struggling to find Catlux in the stores.
A call to the owner! [name removed], and a trip to Klorman Industries was very rewarding.
The people at Catlux are every bit the equal of their products.

Good
Love this - Resonably priced for what it does. Would happily reccomend it. Checked the manufacturers website and it is produced from sustainable logging so environmental concerns eased some what.
My two kittens love it - no issues with the texture or any odour.
Love that I can flush this - I live in an apartment and don't want to be running up and down with plastic bags of cat litter.
Can be a little dusty at times and my female kitten likes to think of the whole room as her litter box so it does spread easily.

Throw away the litter tray deodoriser!!! this product really works, no smell, no cat litter stones in the feet.... FANTASTIC product!!!
NO SMELL!!!!! it actually clumps and you can scoop them out of the litter tray easily, its soft on the cats paws and also on my feet, because as we all know, no matter what the brand, cats track cat litter all through the house given the opportunity (although I personally don't think this tracks as badly as the pebble varieties or maybe because it is so soft you just don't notice it as much!)
6 litres is not a big enough bag, I have two adult cats and go through a bit, would like t know where I can buy the bigger bags in South Australia.

Christineasked
Can I recycle this product in my garden instead of flushing it away?
Heather Martinasked
When you say flushable, do you mean you can dispose of it in a normal toilet? What about a septic toilet? Also is it available in Brisbane QLD? If so best from where? Price & size of bags please.
3 answers
Hi Heather, it is flushable in normal toilet, but not suitable in septic toilet. However, you even can use it as garden mulch! It should be available in QLD. There are adress I found in their website;
Thuringowa Shop 3 & 4, 1 Herveys Range Road Thuringowa QLD 4817. ph. (07) 4723 2277.
Townsville 201-205 Dalrymple Road Garbutt QLD 4814 Ph: (07) 4779 0043.
I bought it in pet barn 30L (only availabe in petbarn) for around $25 and it could last me really long time (up to 4 months with good quality dry cat food). Let me know how you go. Good luck :D
I buy it online from Pet Circle.
Thought this might help anyone wondering now.
Should be stocked in Woolies and Coles, then Big W have it on their site and our local pet store chain (PetBarn) has it too. Much easier to get now than when the question was asked I guess!
