Perfect service from speaking to there team in Brisbane to sitting on the plane
Booking process through qantas frequent flyers but rang China Eastern for my seats they were so helpful and organised the best seats for a solo traveler.My flight Was very long Melbourne - Toronto via 6 hr wait in Shanghai but the service was amazing.If I had to complain about anything it’s the entertainment but this never bothered me as I always download series and movies on to my I pad before I depart.

Disgusting level of service
Booked this flight for my 73 year old mother who a month prior had had her knee replaced. Wheelchair assistance was booked for every leg of her UK to Melbourne flight. However, when she got to Pudong, China Eastern staff treated her like garbage for her 11 hour stopover in which she was given no assistance. Staff yawned in her face, turned their back on her and refused to look at paperwork confirming the wheelchair had been arranged. Apparently wheelchairs were only for security personnel?!? ail apology came a week later which was then ignored when I replied to it. Phones are never answered. Finally got a second email from someone a few weeks later, no idea who as they had no signature to their email, which ignored all the issues raised in the complaint and said "I'm sorry that we didn't receive your service at the first time. It's extremely inconvenient for your subsequent itinerary. Next time I come to Pudong, please email me in advance. I'll let our regional manager come to protect you!" Surprised!
Flew China Eastern business class Oct 2022 Toronto Canada to Melbourne Australia. From the minute we went up to the counter, to time we left the plane, it was nothing but amazing. The staff were kind, pleasant and helpful. The food....GREAT, and a lot of it. Lots of movies to choose from in English or Chinese. Plane was clean.
After reading the past reviews, my husband and I were very skeptical. We didn't have to worry!
The only complaint I had was that we couldn't check in on line. Luckily, being in business class, we just walked up to the counter for check-in, and were greeted by a very pleasant lady. Economy might not of had the same experience, as the line was very long!
I will definitely fly this airline again!

Food and movie selection
Need to have more varity of food selection rather than just beef and pork with noodles only..
In flight the food was very poor and nothing for vegetarian customer.
I starved from London to China flight and China to Brisbane flight with my 2 teenage children. They don't even serve hot English tea apart from green tea. 21 hours in flight with no food it's like dying.
They also need to put some bollywood movie selection as lot of Indians travelling in this flight.
Please don't forget that not every one is non vegitarian and we are multinational society travelling it's not just chinese

Customer Service Appreciated
After major mix up which in a day of departure change to our flights, CE ended up sorting it all out really well. The customer service from Amy in the Brisbane office was simply amazing and the best I have experienced in a long time. Flights were all on time, good food and good service. We were really impressed and will travel with CE again.

Worst airline I have flown.
The crew were rude and for a over eleven hours of night flights overnight they didn't want to give eye cover,(I have the film of this.).
I arrived to Sydney and saw my luggage is damaged and still communicating with them with no success after about two months.

Unexpectedly good

10 and a half hours plus 2 hours....quite comfortable
Good service and entertainment although some travellers complained re alcohol service

Terrible airline and terrible service
Flight from Sydney to Beijing - staff VERY rude and unhelpful UNLESS of course you were Chinese then they bent over backwards to assist - even when we asked to move to another row (that was completely EMPTY upon takeoff ) we were told no, however as soon as flight took off several Chinese people asked to sit there and were allowed ??? d not have cared less and then tried to move another person to them before finally after a “discussion” with them we were allowed to sit in our designated seats..... I have never flown on an airline with such rude unhelpful staff in my life and will never fly with them again. The worst possible ever
three connecting flights and the luggage has to be self transferred every time. At least inform us before or after booking or anywhere in the website. is it possible to do so in 1 hour stopover?? common sense a$$**. a total stress and highly not recommended ever. terrible customer service too.

My wife and I flew from brisbane on 1st may to Frankfurt. The first leg to Shanghai was good. a joke. The plane was scheduled on our iterary to leave 2200hrs, got to airport and saw it was leaving 1910hrs.. ok good we got there early, but we were never notified of flight change! The plane was a wreck! we got the seats we booked cos I insisted on it but my wifes seat didnt recline (broken) the food tray holder was broken on one side so had to be carefull when food was delivered not to drop it. and the usb port on info centre was broken.. its a wonder the plane actually flew at all.. The worst airline ever
In April 2022 our family booked a trip to China, the air tickets were booked online with Gotogate Pty Ltd(Level 2, Riverside Quay 1 Southbank Boulevard, Melbourne VIC 3006).
The return flights were on the 24th April, MU5416 from Chengdu to Shanghai and the connecting flight MU715 from Shanghai to Brisbane, arriving Brisbane on 25th April in the morning. But when we got to the Chengdu airport we were told that the tickets were wrong and we were refused to be checked in. However when we arrived Shanghai, the connecting flight MU715 has already closed it's boarding gate, and the departure time has also been changed from 22:15 to 21:10, the boarding gate was closed before we landed in Shanghai, and actually MU5416 arrived in Shanghai even a few minutes earlier than schedule. As a result of the change(that no one informed us) of the flight time, we had to stay in Shanghai for another 2 days because the next flight from Shanghai to Brisbane was on 26th April. My wife and my daughter and myself arrived in Brisbane on 27th April though we were supposed to arrive on 25th April. Chinese Eastern Airline admitted that they changed our flight time and did not inform any about the change, both their headquarter in China and their Brisbane office have confirmed that. We received no compensation, no one apologized to us and we had to argue with China Eastern Airline by ourselves otherwise we may never be able to get back home and loose our tickets. We contacted GOTOGATE at Chengdu and Shanghai airports on 24th April and they did not help us. Because we arrived home late both me and my wife lost salary due to the absences from work, our child also lost a day in school and the chance to participate in the class photo.Similar opinion? worst experience as a frequent flyer
Absolutely rude staff at the check in. We were travelling as a couple and were given two seperate seats 30 rows apart. This is given that we tried to check in online 24hrs before the flight and their website did not let us check in online with unclear error messages. We asked staff to see if they could reunite us given that my wife was pregnant and I couldn't leave her alone for the duration of the flight. ple request and were looking at us as if we were criminals for making such a request! When we got onboard, we saw lots of seats are empty and could have easily been allocated to us. We asked the crew and they changed our seats eventually, but it was a shame this was not done by check in staff in the first place! Very bad experience with this airline. We flew from Paris, France to Sydney, Australia via Shanghai, China.
We had 2 flights (12 hours and 10 hours, with a layover of 8 hours in Shanghai)
I will never fly with this company again! By far, the RUDEST and most unprofessional experience I have ever encountered with airline and customs staff!!!
I used the bathroom when we boarded the plane, only to find that the toilet was dirty and there was no hand soap to use!
This was before take-off on an 10-12 hour international flight!!
The staff were extremely rude and unhelpful! I have no idea how or why they are even in this industry at all!

Kicked a young family off last flight of the day for voicing negative feedback about unsafe company
Last minute trip booked for a family of 4 (2 adults, 2 children, 6 yrs and 2 yrs) from SH (PVG airport) to MEL (1 way) for 5/1/19, due to sudden death of my grandmother in SH. Was originally scheduled to fly back to MEL from HK but had to double back to SH and Cathay did not have any available flights to MEL til 12/1/19. Had to settle with China Eastern Airlines as they flew direct to MEL.

th Jan). Was advised by ground staff at gate to bring stroller onto bus and give to ground staff on tarmac to ensure it is taken on board. There was not a single soul on tarmac when the bus arrived next to the plane, either to control foot traffic or to receive my stroller. Most passengers (being Chinese) scrambled to get off the bus and crowd onto the staircase leading to the entrance of the plane, the bitter cold and wet weather did not help matters. CE Airlines has a policy of re-scanning boarding passes right before boarding the plane (to avoid abscondees?) which they decided to carry out half way up the covered staircase. This created a bottleneck situation with more than half of the bus passengers left on the tarmac exposed to the cold and rain. I had no choice but to carry the folded stroller, along with carry-on luggage and trying to hold on to my 6 yr old daughter, up the slippery and over-crowded staircase. She slipped and fell 3 times along the way. My husband was carrying our 2 year old son and was ahead of me. When I eventually got to the entrance of the plane, my arms gave way (under excess strain) and both the stroller and suitcase fell onto the floor. A flight attendant asked why I brought the stroller up and I explained angrily that there was no ground staff to receive it and that I brought it up in fear that it would have been left behind otherwise. I also criticized that the re-scanning of boarding passes half way on a staircase was a bad practice and ill-conceived. I further said that the lack of crowd control and the wet weather posed safety risks. At this point the Cabin Manager ([name removed]) intervened and said I was being disrespectful to cabin crew who are trying to help. I said I have not received any assistance since departure gate and that CE Airlines has poorly implemented and unsafe practices. This quickly turned into an heated argument where he accused me of being rude and unappreciative while I insisted it's the company's policies that I'm criticizing. In an attempt to de-escalate the situation, I told him I wanted to get to my seat. He responded by physically blocking me and shoving me when I tried to go around him. He further demanded my passport details and boarding pass and threatened that I could not stay on the flight. I managed to move away from him eventually when two other boarding passengers directed me an alternative passage way. I found my seat and rejoined my family and explained to my husband what had happened at the entrance of the plane (being ahead of me, he did not witness the whole incident). I also obtained [name removed] name and title from a helpful flight attendant at the back of the plane. I thought this was the end of the unpleasantness. I was very wrong.Similar opinion? Everything I needed for a flight
I've just flown 4 times with this airline - Sydney to Kunming, then domestic on to Chengdu. On return domestic from Beijing to Nanjing, then on to Sydney. Each flight was on time and I found the attendants friendly and efficient. Sure they don't have strong English skills, but as it's a Chinese airline I had no expectation they would! f the seats, however the earphones provided were poor quality and even at full ball I could not hear the movies, so I didn't end up watching them. Take your own if you can as this seemed a common theme. As you recline the seat backwards, your seat slides forward, which to me is a good feature. We were seated together with a window seat, however I heard a couple complaining that at check in they were unable to request window seats - I believe they are already allocated by this stage. My booking was a part of a tour so I am unsure the exact cost of the flights, but for a budget airline I was quite happy. I'd fly with them again, especially if the price was right.Similar opinion?
