Excellent
This is one of the best cars ever built. Pity it is imported by Ateco. Pity the dealers do not support their product in Australia. I wish I still had my C4 diesel!
Had the 1.6 Turbo Diesel 2006 manual model for three years. It had fantastic fuel economy. I would average 3.7l/100 km regularly. It was comfortable, a joy to drive and trouble free. The panoramic roof was great, the fixed steering wheel easy to use and the cruise control precise. I wish I had not sold it.
Resale value would be my only complaint.

Great 2nd Car
Kind of went against what everyone warned me about. The Citroen C4 and C5 have to be about the best value cars around.
Only had the car a week, outstanding performance from the 2.0i L engine with a 5sp Man.
Handles as well as our old VW GolfTDI we got rid of 2 years ago. Frugal at the petrol station as well - esp on country drives. Around the City 8.7 l/100klm seems ok to me.
Performance is VERY strong. In the first few days noticed the engine "depolution" warning light. Changed fuel to Premium Unleaded or 98 Octane. Fixed the issue - plus performs so smoothly.
Seats are very supportive for touring and sports type driving. Gears are a little "notchy" but you get used to that.

The C4 takes a little getting used to - it does things a little differently and is sure "out of the box"... Make sure you buy one with low klms - like we did Very inexpensive to buy 2nd hand, startling performance, easy to drive, cruise control, speed limiter, ESP, handling is brilliant Nothing bad, but will keep you informed. (Nearly had a bad start - but turned out to be fuel issue)

Good
I bought a 2009 MY09 update model C4 1.6 petrol Turbo full knowing how bad ATECO the importer is. A mere bottle of touch up paint is now 4 weeks and counting. The C4 should be a marvelous car but is let down by little things like lack of a dead pedal for the left foot, trim that is mostly right but not quite, and a well documented adaptive auto transmission that might adapt to Charles de Gaulle's ghost but not the driver (it has a curious incompetence at low speeds). The sales experience at Zagame Melbourne was very good - no warranty proble...Read more
ms yet - fingers crossed. If the C4 had better interior build quality and an auto importer rather than a trading company like ATECO, it would be one of the better drives on the road, even with the interesting automatic. As it is, still good. There are a number of well regarded Citroen specialist reapir shops about Melbourne, and my research suggests Zagame is considered to have better than most Citroen dealer service bays, so I won't be fussed for good service unless ATECO shirks keeping proper spares inventories. A Citroen is an experience not just a product. 1.6L turbo is a joy; auto-everything; good ride; panoramic roof grows on you; good boot size ATECO the importer is very ordinary at the best of times; build quality (interior) not the best; auto trans has a truly French mindsetSimilar opinion? Find out how Citroën C4 Mk.1 compares to other Hatchbacks
Know better, choose better.
Bad
Simple: never-ever buy a Citroen; the dealers will rob you, create dramas. The distributors don't want to know you. What is really a great car is let down by appalling after sales service & parts pricing.
Comfortable car, with lots of features, good looking car. Good performance. My c4 is 2006. 2 litre hatch with a sunroof, very nice. But!
Like a previous reveiwer, i came up against the Newcastle dealer & this is where things headed south. I had trouble with the air con too. The dealer was closing at the end of the month & the staff didn't give...Read more

Good
Great car overall and ideal in today's high fuel prices as the real world fuel economy is better than the Toyota Prius. Handling on paved roads is excellent but it is not designed for rough roads.
- Excellent fuel economy (HDI-EGS). 5.5L/100km overall for Melbourne inner suburbian / CBD driving.- Excellent handling. Corners better than a Subaru Liberty Wagon (AWD)- my other car.- Ergonomic design (the layout of the controls are very logical, once you get used to the non-tuning central hub on the steering wheel)- Excellent safety- 20,000km be...Read more

Hi, I bought a second hand 2008 Citroen C4 1.6 HDi recently, 2 months now. Im having a new troubles with it:
I had battery failure week ago, car didn't start. So I had replaced the battery. Since then the stereo isn't working. I can only connect my phone via bluetooth but its only for calls. I can see power is coming to the stereo but in its menu the music section is grayed out. Can anyone please advice what to do?

Try to take the stereo fuse out and replug it back so, it reboots it. The fuse is in the glovebox. This is not a fault with the stereo unit. As the Bluetooth is goverened by the stereo unit, this will fix that too. Try also to pair your bluetooth as that could solve your bluetooth problems.
