Coles bread too sweet

published

The bread has a great texture, it's soft and doesn't break apart like it used to. The only thing I don't like is the sweetness. I usually have rice cakes with vegemite so when I had it on the bread it tasted like sweet vegemite. It has double the sugar of the Aldi bread at 5.9g (Aldi has 2.4g) I would give this 5 stars if it lost the sweet taste.

Purchased in July 2021.

Coles brand gluten free soy and linseed bread

published

The texture is too dry, too light and hopelessly crumbly. And they have added sugar!! It tastes slightly sweet. I would be happier if I could taste a little salt, as in all good traditional bread making

Purchased in March 2021 for A$4.50.

Perfect new and improved

published

I do not agree with everyone who is saying that the new Coles gluten free white bread is not good, on contrary it is amazing.
Coles improved its bread since July 2018 and it is fluffy and similar to normal bread .
I guess people who hate i lt now got used to the old hard and dry one and forgot the taste of normal bread .
I am a new celiac and tried Coles before it got improved, i say it really gor better and wish it becomes more better in future, well done Coles, your products are the best .

WAS the best- not now!

I thought iId finally found the perfect GF bread high on quality, taste and texture at an affordable price. Even needed to get to the store early to beat other converts. What happened? It's now an awful product. Luckily, I've now found a great GF bread at ALDI for a similar price!

New & Improved - don't think so...

published

I often buy Coles GF bread as it is significantly cheaper than the other brands.

I won't be purchasing it again as it is crumbly and the taste is not great. I can't even put it in the toaster as it crumbles in my hand when I pick it up. The other slices in the packet just crumble too. Some of the bread has been placed in the bin as it is unusable.

Coles, please take customer feedback seriously and fix these problems that many customers have outlined below.

What happened to Coles Gluten Free White Bread

published

Coles changed their recipe or supplier of their gluten free white bread, it now says new and improved. It might be new but it is not improved. In fact it tastes absolutely horrible. Such a shame, because it was the best Gluten free bread I had found. Coles, please bring back your old product, as we will not be buying this version anymore.

What's happened to Coles GF multigrain and 5 seed bread?

published

I don't know why you changed your recipe when things were perfect before! I avoid buying house labelled products but your GF bread WAS the best. Now, it's wet and crumbly. I can hardly peel it out of the packet. I barely get it in the toaster before it breaks apart. It tastes sweet and horrible. The end pieces are so thick every time. What's happened????

Terrible quality

Bread can only be toasted before attempting to put toppings. Barely able to get it out of the packet without it falling apart! Woolworths has better quality gluten free bread.

Coles Gluten Free Bread - four seeds

Stick with the good gluten free brands you know. This product rates well below average. The bread crumbles in your hand and is like thick cardboard. This should be taken off the shelves.

Gluten Free bread

published

For some time now I have been buying Coles (brand) gluten free white bread and I have found this bread very good on taste and price ( however I do wish it was much cheaper to purchase) compared to other brands. Toasts extremely well and also is excellent for bread crumbs. Vogels New Zealand gluten free is by far the best just wished we could purchase this brand in Australia as Vogels freshness seems to remain for many days which is great for sandwiches.

I just bought your gluten free white bread mix and I followed the instructions. That is 20ml oil, 12g dried yeast, and 360ml lukewarm water. After mixing, the dough came out very sticky. Was that the desired result? It would help if your instructions describe what to expect. Anyhow, I left it as is and its currently rising in the tin, fingers crossed.

how did it go?

Hello AAASolar, even though the dough mixture was wet and sticky, it did rise to more than double its size.
I baked the dough as per packet specification and it came out beautifully soft and light. It tasted good.
