These Tyres are excellent in both wet and dry conditions
i am unsure how anyone could fault Conti Sport 3's other than they ride very hard, though i do have aftermarket sports shocks front and back as well which probably contributes to the firmer ride.
Definately don't buy these if you are looking for a luxury ride though as you feel every nuance of the road though it makes you feel at one with the car with total control at all times.
I have used them for the last 43,000 km's over 3 years on a Subaru Liberty fitted with 225 40 R18's.(Nitrogen filled). They are just about on the legal limit now on t...Read more

Lots of grip, endless noise
These tires came with my 2015 Audi A4 S line. I have the 19" wheels. Let's start with the good, they have excellent grip in wet and dry weather. However they have ruined the overall driving experience of an otherwise great car with their excessive droning. Your car turns in to a drum of unrelenting humming, that only gets worse the longer you drive. If you're thinking of getting these tires, I strongly suggest looking into a competitors as these are by far the loudest tires ever made.

Most dissapointment ever experianced with Tyres
Bought these thinking that they would be as good as Michi's or Pirelli's, how wrong I was supplier fitted and nominated the pressures. Great handling both wet and dry but you could almost see them wearing out. Put car in for a regular service and was amazed to read that rear tyres illegal and needed replacing at 18,000 KLM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Never again, back to reliable dependable options from anyone but Conti.

ContiSportContact 3
I too have been driving an MB C350 CDI with Conti 225/40 ZR18 fronts and 255/35 ZR18 backs. I now am up for 4 new at 55K mostly urban driving which I reckon is good going give the prodigious torque of the V6 Turbo diesel.
Have had to buy 2 X new replacements on the way due to sidewall. Both my fault. Drove a few k's on a flat to a servo coz I was too lazy to change it. Shredded sidewall!!. drove over a car park steel pole lock that was supposed to be countersunk, but was not and nicked the side wall. Dead tyre again. Other than self inflicted injuries, these tyres have been outstanding and I will buy again. If anyone can tell me how much I should pay and from whom?

Confidence inspiring grip. Surprisingly good wear.
My 2012 Suzuki Swift Sport is factory fitted with these tyres in a 195/45R17 size. It is one of only two brands (the other being Bridgestone) that make a tyre to fit this unusual size. I've test driven a Sport on the Bridgestones and they are quite noisy. By comparison, the Continentals are almost as loud! It's the one thing that I don't like about the tyre. Otherwise I find the grip to be extremely good in dry or wet. And I've done 35,000 kms so far and expect to get at least another 5,000 kms. I usually don't get anywhere near that sort of ty...Read more
re life from my cars! I am also impressed with the tyre's resilience. Three of my four tyres recently got screws in them, yet I was able to drive quite some distance back to home and then to the tyre shop the next day with only one tyre deflating slightly. Two tyres had to be plugged and the third was fine. I'm very happy with that kind of quality! Grip, ride comfort, wear. Too noisy!Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Overrated
Had these tyres as new on my new Peugeot 308 and they only last for 25000 Klms. I don't think they are suited for the rougher Australian roads and definitely not on the Peugeot and it's direct steering. Both tyres wore out on the outside rims and tyres were always kept at recommended pressure.
To soft and design is to flat on the side walls for car and road.

Another side wall issue review
These tyre came as standard issue on my Kia Rio. They had great grip but when the side wall blew out on one for no reason I decided to research them. Looks like they have a reputation for this type of failure. This type of tyre failure for no reason is inexcusable. It is obviously a design fault and one which could put lives at risk and I would do anything to tell people not to consider buying these tyres.
Good grip
Life threatening design fragility.

Side wall issues
I have been driving 234/45/17 on my Commodore for the past year and have found them to have exceptional grip on dry and wet roads. No noise and good braking. The tread pattern looks great too with their deep prominent channels.
My only issue (apart from the cost) would have to be the side walls seem to be too soft or thin, if that makes any sense. I inflate them to 47psi (limit is 52 I think) and as I drive it still feels like I am driving on deflated tyres.
Although I love the grip these tyres have, I wouldn't recommend them to anyone.

Terrible poor quality tyres
Bought a set of these tyres based on recommendations from jax tyres in Preston. One week later the sidewall got a hole and I was told I had to buy a new one. Wish I had read the reviews earlier as it looks like they have sidewall problems which I never had with my previous tyres.
No warranty service

Continental Sport Contact 3 - Excellent grip and wear but very noisy
This is my third car that has been fitted with the Continental Sport Contact tyres. The first two vehicles, Mercedes C180 Evolution Coupe and Audi A4 Quattro ran the Sport Contact 2. My current vehicle, the Porsche Cayman came factory fitted with the Sport Contact 3. On all three vehicles the tyres exhibited the same characteristics, excellent dry and wet grip, long wear (50,000km +) but terrible road noise which spoils the driving experience. On both the Mercedes an the Audi they were replaced with the Yokohama Advan. At two thirds the price t...Read more
he tyre gives outstanding dry and wet grip, much better feedback though the wheel, low road noise but as a down side lower mileage of only 30-40,000km. The jury is still out on what to replace the Contis with on the Porsche but it was obvious they were designed for the silk smooth roads only found in Germany. PS. The Contact Sport Contact 3 were replaced with the Michelin Pilot Sport PS2. This tyre is less expensive, quieter, has better grip, better feedback and based on the current 17000km traveled, will wear better than the Continentals. Take a look at the Goodyear Eagle F1 A2 as well. I have fitted these to another vehicle and results are excellent. Excellent wet and dry grip and long wear High road noise, poor feedback though the wheelSimilar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Continental Conti Sport Contact 3 225/45 R 17 94W
Continental, Conti Sport Contact 3, 225/45 R 17 94W were fitted on my car when I bought it, so I replaced them when they required replacing after approximately 25,000Km. Again they only lasted a little over 25,000km. I'm not sure if it's the tyres or the setup of the car, but they handle really well and stick to the road. I feel extremely confident when driving in both wet and dry conditions. Unfortunately, because of the price and the low mileage of these tyres, I won't be purchasing these again now that I'm due for new tyres.
Excellent grip
Expensive, Low Mileage and Noisy

Fragile side walls
New June 2012 Mercedes C250 CDI comes with 225-40-ZR18 Front and 255-35-ZR18 Rear. Less than 1200km normal mix of city/hway driving and both left side tyres (front and rear) side walls have failed (bulge) on outside wall only, no rim damage adjacent to tyre wall failure. Tyres were inflated to the correct pressure by the Dealer. Never mounted gutters or hit any objects on the road. In 40+ years of driving I have never had a tyre wall failure.
The Mercedes is a magic machine, not so sure about the durability of the low profile tyres
Exorbitant price (around $1300) to replace two tyres

as the standard default package. If they are so fragile it should not be customers fault for Mercs poor choice of shoddy tyres. I have driven for 29yrs without a tyre blow out, then to get 2 in the space of 3weeks is not right. If you look at other forums there is also a trend that the weaknesses become more apparent after the tyres have 6mnths of use.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Excellent grip wet and dry
Comes with the factory default (VW Passat 2010). The tyres (235/45/17) have excellent grip in both wet and dry and very quite. Wear off after 40K used but was told it was normal in Passat. Been shop around to find a good deal. I am considering Yokohama C Drive due to price ($225 compared with $266/tyre for CSC3).
Excellent grip. Love them
Expensive

Great Grip, Only matched by quick Wear!!
Ran the CSC3's on a HSV Avalanche (2 tonne all wheel drive). Tyres (245/45/18) gripped excellent in both wet and dry and were very quiet. At $350 a pop they were a little pricey but I could not forgive the wear rate of these tyres, 13000km's, And this is my wifes oversized shopping trolley!!! Would hate to see how long they would last if I were driving. Definately not suited to a heavy car.
All round grip.
Treadwear rate. 13000km's on wifes car

Questions & Answers

I purchased a new vw cc in 2012 fitted with contisport contact 3 tires. The vehicle has travelled
30 000km and the tire noise is loud and very annoying in particular at speeds of 60 - 70km/hr. I first noticed the noise when it had travelled 15 000km and its got louder with time. There is ample thread on the tires, probably for another 10 000 to 15 000km. I have always maintained the tire pressures at 2.5 bar as recommended .Pressure sensors fitted in the tires
initiate a warning light on the dash when the pressure is not maintained. Is this a common problem with this type of tire and what is the cause.? Is there a way of eliminating the problem other than replacing the tires.? If the later is the only option, what is a good replacement tire.?
Thank-you
Joe

Hi Joe. Firstly I'm not sure if tyre size or profile makes any difference, in terms of road noise, but as I run 225/45 R17 94W, I can only pass on my experience on these tyres.
I do not find these tyres excessively noisy. Having said that, I notice you said that you inflate the tyres to the vehicle manufacturer's recommended tyre pressure. I have NEVER kept to the recommended tyre pressure. I ALWAYS inflate more than recommended. For example, the recommended tyre pressure for my vehicle is 2.5 bar (approximately 36psi). I always inflate my tyres to 40psi (around 2.75 bar).
I hope this helps you.
