Beautiful Oil
After using water base oils our deck lost its natural beauty and was just one solid brown colour. We decided after doing a small deck extension that we would strip the whole deck right back and start again..... wow what a costly and timely job, NEVER AGAIN!!
We used both Cutek deck stripper and intergrain deck stripper. We found the intergrain to be alot more effective.
After a week of stripping and a week of sanding it was time to deck wash and oil.
After hours of reading reviews I was sold on Feast Watson decking oil.

I have used the Haymes water and oil based products on a number of decks after giving up on Integrain. The acrylic Dexpress is a good product if that's what you like to use. I prefer oil as it better penetrates the timber and gives a more natural look. I have oiled four decks and all four have required repeat oiling after a shorter period of time than I would expect. The latest deck was oiled three months ago with three coats but my client rang and asked me to look at the deck as it had lost its colour and water resistance. I love the way the oil goes on and looks great for a few weeks but I would hope it lasts longer than three months. So, the jury is still out.

enhancing my deck
on a new merbau deck surface, i chose Haymes Simply Woodcare Decking Oil (even though the rest of my decks i have coated with Flood Spa & Deck). Of course they look different; the Spa & Deck an acrylic, the Haymes Woodcare an oil that allows the woodgrain to show through. After preparing the new wood, Haymes was easy to apply; i chose to paint rather than roller; the product dried within hours; additional coats i applied once the first one was completely dry (24 hrs); looks great. i am applying every six to eight months as my deck faces due north and has to endure all the weather elements. i will use this product on any further deck i need to replace - love the way the woodgrain shines through

Follow up. Twelve months on from my first review, I have used the Haymes natural deck oil on around 10 decks, either recoating or initial application. In all cases I have taken the time for proper pre

Haymes decking oil has performed very well, better than my first review suggested. It has performed particularly well on seasoned timber; it penetrates deeply and brings out the grain in the timber as new. On new timber, it is important to allow the timber to weather to allow the burring to wear off. I have left timber for upto 3months then used the Intergrain oxalic acid products. This is by far the best prep for the long term otherwise the timber will not absorb the oil (or water based finishes) evenly.
