works for us - nice product
works and sticks - tip - clean toilet first, let dry then apply, first one might be a bit dodgy to come out but rest easy as and good. i like lime zest - toilet used lots per day and 1x gell lasted about 9 days, nice clean fresh smell, toilet still flushes well - will keep using - been hot here - 36oc outside but still stuck, but home is cool inside so maybe heat not hot enough to soft? will see over summer. i have chemical sinus problems but this does not affect it

Just useless
Seems impossible to even apply, all sticky and not firm coming out when trying to apply but falling into pieces and not wanting to stick to the bowl. Had to grab the gooey mess off with my fingers and press but very dubious it will hold at all if I flush, not happy

They've got that sinking feeling
Like most people here my duck discs also met a very early final flush! 72 hours in fact was the total time these discs stayed in place. But then Brisbane has a hot day and these things just liquefy and slide right off the loo bowl!! I'll bit be purchasing these again as the are really expensive for the use... About $1 a day when you think about it!!

Easy yet overpowering smell
I love the of a non-cagey concept but since using these I almost immediately get a headache after going to the loo because the smell is simply too strong, like the kind of strength you'd put in the locker rooms of footy players. I once halved the size of the disc by scrapping some of it off with a disposable knife and it still smelled too strong.
Easy, it sticks well, you don't need to scrub the bowl everyday because there's no yukky loo water smell.
The SMELL is too strong oh my GAWD SO strong!!!

Waste of money
Great product in theory, but Not in realty, not a good product waste of money, the toilet Duck it cost $10 when on special and washed away within the first one to two flushes of the toilet, total waste of money, I would not recommend this product to any of my friends or family.
Nothing.
Didn't stay stuck to the bowel, flushed away within first few flushes.

Think it's a great product
I thought I'd give this a try after spying it at the supermarket & wanting to try something different in our main loo (we have 3 but one in particular always seems to be used continuously!). I hate the cage cleaners as they get pretty grubby & I've also had the expense of a plumber unblocking a loo in the past when one of my children knocked it in to the bowl & then flushed...never again.
I bought the marine fragrance as I'm not a fan of anything perfumed - I think they're all to strong & synthetic-smelling, so I like to stick to the most 'na...Read more

Horrible
I signed up just to review this awful product. I purchased original scent and within half an hour of using them our home smelled like a cheap pub urinal and we were coughing and wheezing. And we don't suffer from allergies or asthma usually.
Horrible, nasty fragrance, astringent and bleach-smelling. Overpowered the entire house. They were removed immediately and we've chucked the rest of the pack out. What a waste of money.
I liked the concept because I hate cage (nasty Gerry things).
The smell.

Good concept
I really like the idea but they just don't seem to stay on the bowl, they slide off. A complete waste of money and I'm really disappoint. Doesn't matter where I stick it on the bowl it just doesn't want to stay. I think it needed more work before it was put on the shelves!
Convenient (if worked), pretty looking
Useless, doesn't last up to 7 weeks as claims. I'm lucky if I get a few days out of one.

2nd best toilet cleaner out there
I've recently moved houses, in my previous house the toilet had a ceramic lid so it was very quick and easy to lift off the top and drop a slow release bleach tablet into the water reservoir, which in my mind is the best way of adding a cleaner additive to the toilet.
In the house I'm now in its the standard plastic cistern with ceramic pan, and more of a pain the remove the lid. I cant stand using cages - they become gross after a while and get in the way when trying to clean the toilet. A friend has been using the Duck Fresh discs so I decid...Read more

Fresh smelling toilet all around!!!
Was a bit apprehensive about using the product with little or no knowledge about it but I thought why not give it a go? It was a bit of a challenge learning how to use it at first but after applying it the first time and flushed it, the smell that came out was wonderful! I used lavender by the way. So far, a week almost passed and the gel is still sticking to the wall of the toilet. I placed it on the right corner at the far back where the water should be strongest and I have to say I'm happy about it. I do wonder how long the disc will last an...Read more
d I haven't seen the refillable tubes available; I guess I have to keep on buying the complete set. The functionality I have yet to see if it has real cleaning actions. So far its just about the nice smell. Its a good product I have to say. :) Nice smell after every flush!Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Overpowering fragrance. Lasts much longer than advertised
The lime zest fragrance is way to strong. I'll try the marine next... hopefully its more subtle.
Toilet is used a few times per day, so when I apply it, I make sure the bowl is clean and DRY. After I apply it, the disk can last anywhere between 3 and 6 weeks (depending on the strength of the water flow.
I'm trying a few positions around the bowl, to see which lasts the longest.
I agree with most people: the applicator is a bit difficult to use.
It would be nice if the discs also contained some kind of detergent to minimise the need to clean the toilet. (ie like the white king in-cistern blocks)

Overpowering, Cheap & Nasty fragrance
Clever idea, disappointing execution. These things smell *awful*. So bad. It's a nasty, cheap, chemical fragrance - just like what you'd expect to find in a poorly maintained public loo. The fragrance spreads throughout the house, and will make you feel ill. What ever happened to subtle, natural fragrances with real natural ingredients? I threw mine out after a day. What a waste of money.
Clever concept. Like the idea of no plastic cage.
Overpowering, cheap, nasty, chemical fragrance

I Like Using These
I love these discs. I think they look really pretty on the bowl and they fill the bathroom with a nice smell after each flush. They seem to keep the toilet cleaner as well. I have never had an issue with them falling sliding off the bowl and they last about a week. I wish they came in some more fragrances and colours. Perhaps a pink pot-pouri or rose or an orange peach fragrance.
The smell and it keeps the bowl clean.
Goes a bit "gooey" after a while.

Lime refills
Awful! Smells like there's a smoker in the house. Why can't we get refills for the other scents. The lime is dreadful. Get Rid Of It! I've chucked it out. I love the product and have been using the other scents, but the Lime is really awful. Please make the other 2 scents available as refills.
Nothing at all other than the fact that it was available as a refill
Dreadful odour/perfume!

Yuk
I had to the scrape the stuff off the toilet bowl after only a couple of hours. The smell was overpowering!! Made my entire house smell like a toilet. Will not be buying again. Also the smell was meant to be "lime" so I was expecting a nice citrus-y smell and it smelt nothing like lime.
Smell was awful and far too strong

Waste of money
The idea is good, in that its more hygienic and smells pleasant, keeps the toilet clean. It doesn't last very long though. It becomes a blob of goo after a couple of days, even when in a position in the toilet bowl that doesn't get much water during a flush. I don't think its worth the money.
Hygienic
Doesn't last as long as its advertised to

Fantastic Product
I was really pleased with this product, it works really well and is super easy to use.
I have used the Harpic cage-less hangers, but wasn't nearly as pleased with them as I am with the discs.
Although the hangers do last a little longer, you get more discs in a packet so it works out to be similar.
The one thing I didn't like about the Harpic hangers was how they looked after a few flushes, they looked very daggy. The fresh discs look very cool and when it comes time to place a new one, I don't have to carry a gross piece of plastic with scr...Read more

More hygenic than cage type toilet fresheners
I've used this product in two houses now and both times had no problem with the discs sliding off - must be the type of porcelain?
When the disc gets a bit old, I just get the toilet brush onto it and do a good toilet scrub before re-applying another disc.
Hated touching the cages!
You cannot buy refills by themselves - must keep continually purchasing a handle (even with the "refill" packs) - environmental and financial waste.

Great idea, lacks performance
I found this product to be very pleasant smelling & easy to use, it's a great idea but I found it slides down the side of the bowl during hot weather after a couple of days. Not sure if it's the process of application or not but it performs differently depending on weather conditions. I wouldn't recommend it for families with small children as it would become a novelty for the little ones, but, it's very convenient.
Pleasant smelling & efficient
Doesn't perform as promised

Won't stay put!
Having applied the discs in two toilets, I was pleased with the way they worked and the fragrance was pleasant. But, after a few uses, they started to slide down the side of the bowl and within a few days were gone! I re-applied and have had the same result - not happy!
Smells nice, works well for a day or two.
Doesn't last.

Are duck discs safe for septic systems

Hi Lorraine,
The manufacturer claims they are septic safe and biodegradable. We have septic tanks and have been using them for several years without any issues so far.

I have used toilet duck discs for quite a while and really like them but recently put one in the toilet in my Spanish holiday home which is not in constant use
I have noticed a strange sickly sweet smell at my Spanish home bathroom which is definitely not a sewage smell and nothing seems backed up
I have suddenly wondered if the disc can go off after a period of time when not flushed in a hot environment?

Eventually I scraped the remaining disc off the toilet bowel, and threw out the unfinished pack. Desperately needs a fragrance-free (or, a lightly & naturally frangranced version).
