Grandtrek AT22 worst tyre ever
I got these fitted on new 2016 Ford Ranger, After lacking the traction on wet roads to enable taking off at traffic lights or safely turn around corners on wet roads I contacted 2 tyre dealers after being told to make a complaint to them by my Ford Australia dealer with comments supporting my experiences but nothing else. I then drove to my Ford Australia dealer to find out what they could do for me after 10,000 km and was told not their problem, call Ford. So I did call Ford and I am still waiting after 4 weeks for them to call back. My question was how can a car have a 5 star rating when it can not drive in the wet?
I will change these tyres asap while I wait for Ford Australia to call

Just plain dangerous with slightest wet road
These came with 2016 Mazda Bt50 dual cab. I put up with them for 14000ks and they are gone. Just plain dangerous with a little wet weather. I have another ute with Wranglers and they have fantastic so replaced the Dunlops with those. It is beyond me how they call them All Terrain. Im on property and they are just not upto the work.

Maximise Wear by Rotating
Had tyres OEM 2012 and just finished our third trip to Syd-Dar-Ade-Syd towing a 3tonne caravan. Have just clocked 131000klm and would estimate still have at least 5-10k left, but fitted same for that extra rubber depth for off road/dirt road usage expected at xmas. This was the first time that I have rotated every 5000klm as recommended and it is the best distance ever from a set of tyres.
Great performance and quiet on the road with that confidence of grip in Mud and Sand.

Absolutely useless in the wet
Got these tyres as OEM with my Ford Ranger. absolutely terrible in the wet, even just a slightly damp road will make them step out under light acceleration. Wont be staying on the car long, I've had enough.
Can't access their off road performance as I haven't had the opportunity yet

Best wearing tyres ever
HI had these tyres on the BT50 from new in 2014.....they have now done 93,000 KLMs and probably have at least 5,000 still on them...probably could get to 100,00 KLMs but as towing a big trip soon decided to have them replaced. However have found now they are unavailable so going for the newer version so hope they are OK Cheers Daryl

Excellent except for mud performance.
Second set on my Lexus LX 470.
Really good on the tar, very quiet. Excellent on the road in the wet too.
Very good on dirt and good wearing. Apparently they are very good on sand too.
I have had one puncture on a bush road, which I felt was unusual.
However be very careful in clay and mud. Tread blocks up and virtually no grip.
I do 90% on the black top but I have been a bit disappointed when on mud. Which has not been deep but actually a newly topped dirt road with high clay content.

Good wearing with great grip on-road and in sand tracks.
Came with my 2012 BT50 and now have 73000 k on them with 20,000 towing 2 tonne van still have 10,000 to 15,000 k left on them.
Planing a trip the the cape middle of the year so pickup a new set of AT 22 today
Good grip on wet & grease roads

Great choice for 4x4s that are towing, and for onroad and dirt road driving
My first set of AT22 (285/65x17") fitted to my vehicle as factory OEM tyres lasted 80,000 kms and were probably still OK for another 10,000 kms but I replaced them just because I found another near new set on eBay. Was very happy to replace these tyres with the same, as they have worn evenly despite me not regularly rotating them. They stay balanced and no big weights required.
These tyres are highway tyres, and will be fine for dirt road driving. Their thread pattern is not suitable for those wanting to do a lot of mud driving. Definitely confident to recommend them to anyone with a ute or SUV, who is after a quiet tyre, and not interested in hard core four wheel driving.

Would use them again.
The AT 22 came with the BT50 when I purchased it new in 2014. They were rotated at each service by Mazda. I got 70,000 out of them with no issues after towing a 2.5 ton caravan all around Australia. Good value for my application of all bitumen driving, only began to feel a bit loose just before replacement.

At 20 vs At 22
Bought a new bt 50. It came with road tyres At20 s 255/70 R16s. They came on steel rims. I noticed on wet tar seal they were dangerous to drive (lost traction and couldnt corner) When i bought my alloy rims they had worn At22s on them which stick to the road like glue even in the wet. Which suits me cause im always late. The difference is like night and day

Handled everything thrown at them
These Tailand At22 tyres were supplied with our BT50. They have been all over Oz towing a 2500kg caravan and heavily loaded car. Been from Cape York to Tassie to WA and the Kimberlies. Covered over 80000kms over 3 years with no punctures and no problems in all types of weather. Should get around another 10000 kms before replacement. Don't really know why people call these Dunflops. They are a great all rounder tyre, quiet on road. Handle most light to medium off road stuff. Sure not great in deep mud but its not a mud tyre. Would buy again.

Excellent purpose built tyres
A mere 25,000 km so far including 12,000 km towing 2.4T caravan half way round the big lap behind Prado Diesel Kakadu. Included some serious off road (not O/R towing). Always inside speed limits and max towing speed 90 kph. Have had them nitrogen filled. Cold pressures 39 psi all round. Tyres performed flawlessly. No discernible road noise. Prado always treated with sympathetic respect. Wet weather grip, handling and road holding excellent. Negligible signs of wear. Car 2 years old. Have owned / driven about 15 (from new) cars out to their use-...Read more
by life (typically 160,000 km) & Prado & these tyres a stand out favorite to date & I'd buy their replacement on experience thus far in a heart beat. Toyota have admirably matched their tyre selection for the Prado to Aust conditions in my view.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!
NO good whatsoever off road
Bought a Mitsubishi Triton and these came standard from new. Took off track - nothing too bad just forest trails but there was a bit of rain previously so quite muddy. Going up small hills - no grip, going around corners - no grip and to top it off, got a flat after only 1000ks. No apparent sign of a puncture. Had bridgestones on my previous Triton and they were great! Will be going back to them as soon as possible!!!

Satisfactory
Ford ranger farm vehicle.
90,000 km using 5 tyres rotated at 10,000km. Probably had another 10k km more.
Used mostly long distance on bitumen, off road on paddocks. On road most bends taken at advisory limits. Few roundabouts. No rough off roading. Fitted to vehicle when purchased new. Never needed wheel alignment. Consider tyres had relatively easy life. Replaced with same. Draw your own conclusions.

Excellent
Got these tyres as OEM on a Prado Kakadu. 265 60 R18 AT22's. Very sceptical at first and almost replaced them with all-terrains before going around Australia. Very glad I didn't.
Towing a 2+ ton van, carrying 4 people and all our junk for 30,000km is a fair ask. These tyres did all that and also went down the Tanami track as far as Wolf Creek Crater, went in to ElQuestro along the Gibb River Road. Plenty of 4wding. Took to the sand at Fraser, etc. No problems at all, and all with the van in tow. No punctures, no nothing. Tyres are awe...Read more

On a slightly different twist... I have just replaced the 4 tyres on my 6.55m 3 tonne caravan after havng dragged the thing around Australia since May 2010. Initially, a 2.5 month 18,000km trip from Melbourne up through the centre to Darwin, all the way down the west coast and back across the Nullabor to Melbourne, with a lot of running around in between. On arriving back in Melboune I was amazed to find very little ware on the tyres so I stuck with them for my next trip to WA. This trip lasted 7 months, running up another 15,000kms in some ex...Read more
tremely rugged territory, much of it very off road and over rocky and sharp ironstone. Once again, on returning to Victoria I found the tyres to still be in very good condition!!. Shortly after this we sold up and hit the road on a full time basis, and since March 2012 we have travelled back to WA and run up another 30,000km+ throughout the same rugged territory. In this time I have had one puncture (on a good quality dirt road between Meekatharra and Sandstone) for no apparent reason. Put the spare on, had the puncture repaired in Kalgoorlie and then returned it to the van... putting the virtually new spare back as the spare. Have now returned to Victoria again to catch up with the family and friends and thought I would take the opportunity to replace the 4 tyres on the van (still keeping the almost new spare as the spare) before we head back to WA for more of the same :-) The tyres I am replacing still have a reasonable tread depth... I would estimate another 10-15,000km in them so I will keep them aside for later use if necessary. As the tread has worn down to about 5-6mm now I think there is more likelihood that I may end up with punctures once I get back into the rough stuff ... particularly the ironstone. I decided whilst in Vic to take advantage of the Beaurepaires (Dunlop) buy 3 and get one free deal... so... $746 all up incl F&B for a full new set of boots ready to go again. Works out to just under $200 a year for a well abused set of tyres that I have been thoroughly impressed with. I would imagine that its only a matter of time before some bright spark marketing manager in Dunlop decides they should stop making these great tyres and replaces them with a new generation cheap nasty replacement in the name of improvement.... just like they did with the Goodyear Wrangler MTR's (prior to kevlar type) that I used on my Land Rover Discovery 2 for a few years with minimal wear and not a single puncture..... then I changed to the Wrangler Duratrac.. but thats another story :-( Great wear and puncture resistanceSimilar opinion? 102000k out of original set!
Can't believe I'm writing a review about tyres! I must have too much time.... Own a 150 series VX prado from new. Mixed driving but mainly asphalt. Tow a 1800kg caravan regularly (at least 8-10 times per year) and hit the high country and down some pretty testing roads and tracks (less in winter) as I appreciate the tyres aren't set up for serious 4wd in the winter.. But have done my share of rivers crossings etc.. Car safety gear (abs, traction control etc) started kicking in around 95k around corners I knew we're previously ok when the van ...Read more
was on.... Had everything tested (shockers, electrics) which all came up ok.. So focus back on tyres. So at 95k my tyres were starting to talk to the prado that the traction when towing the van was starting to deplete. Haven't towed for the past few thousand kilometres and local dealer said I may be able to get a few more from them but decided to new ones today as away camping this weekend. Have had Coopers in the past on 120 prado, got about 60k from them which is consistent from their marketing. Longevity, ride comfort,Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Excellent
Travelled 81k and still had another 7k left on two of the tyres. Had to work at it by keeping an eye on wear patterns and adjusting pressures as required. Also rotated every 10k and had wheel alignments every 12 months. Are the costs of wheel alignmets woth it? I don't know but it must have a contributing effect on the costs of managing the tyres. I also drive very easily, don't go off road much.
Good mileage

Terrible
Not cheap but nasty. Would I fork out $350 plus on these tyres? Not on your nellie!!! If you are going bush on these tyres take plenty of food and water as you will be stuck for quite a while, or just take a full set of other branded tyres, anything but Dunlop Grandtrek
Didn't really like any thing about these tyres. How can Dunlop call these tyres all terain when all their good for is on the tarmac! Oh, one good point is they are quieter than other brands.
Where do I start? Getting around 40,000ks out of a tyre is not a great selling point, on...Read more

problems with uneven wear, they lasted a similar time, horrible in the wet, then I discovered the Bridgestone 694, what a brilliant tyre, done over 70,000k's on these, wearing evenly, quiet, good on the blackstuff and gravel, have nearly been caught out in the mud and if you are not careful can dig you into a hole in sand, (have the nerve to drop the pressures to 22psi and you will be ok). So please with them I put them on my Hilux SR5 4x4. Can't beat them for all round performance .It appears the key with these Grandteks is where they were made. In my experience the Japanese ones are very good but the Thailand ones are terrible for wear. I only got 19000 out of a front set. The Thai ones are rubbish. Trust me.
