Ok in the dry, dangerous in the wet
I had these tyres fitted only because the Dunlop SP175E tyres are now discontinued. The SP LT5 is meant to be the "upgraded" version. And I decided on the LT5 because I was very happy with the 175E and thought, well these must be better.
First of all, the LT5 had more road noise, and I wasn't very happy with the steering response in the dry. But still, I could live with those things.
It's when it is raining when these tyres end up becoming a huge problem. Hydraplaning is a massive issue, especially when driving around even slight bends in...
Read more the road. I found myself having to slow right down to 10km/h or even less. Then as you start going up a hill, you cannot stick to the speed limit, because if you try, the drive wheels lose traction, and the struggle to gain traction until you are on an almost flat surface again. I felt completely unsafe driving my vehicle in the rain, it got to the point where I had to take it in just after 10,000kms and have the tyres replaced with a different brand, and now it is like a completely different vehicle and I no longer have any of the above issues. Overall, I would not recommend these tyres, unless you are going to fit them to a trailer.- 2 reviews
Happy with our LT5s, no complaints, nothing exciting either.
the tyres met our expectations. It was quiet compare to the 'double star' we had earlier. We bought two for the front and during the two and abit years of usage, we did not require any puncture repairs. I didn't capture how many kms used on these but it didn't felt they were long lasting nor were they wore out surprisingly quick.
We used it for our daily delivery work(average 500kg) around Sydney metro area with no highway driving - nothing over 100km/hr.
We were happy with our LT5, will only purchase them again only with a small price premium over other Chinese brands.

Bad tyre, usless on dirt roads, cannot handle rock impacts or pot holes.Side walls are thin dont know how they are LT 8 ply load rated.Brand new set lasted less than 10k.Set like rock after 5000kms,absolute rubbish. Imported third world tyre, stay well clear. These tyres were running on a farm 4 x 2 single cab hilux ute that only gets used for a 15k run into town on tar to pickup light items. Will never buy Dunlop LT tyres again.
Nothing, tyre shop was good enough to replace a brand new tyre that blew side wall less than 500kms.
Overpriced rubbish, poor quality, poor wearing, tyre rubber sets hard and effects ride
