Extra power for better cleaning of carpets

When I bought my Dyson DC19 a long time ago, I looked at the accessory pack which included this tool but decided then not to buy it. After several years I have worked out that the standard tools included with the vacuum aren't the best. The Flat Out Floor Tool does on okay job, but I was wondering what was hiding in my carpets if they hadn't been cleaned properly for years. icular tool is not sold by Dyson anymore, so I had to hunt around on the Internet. I was considering an overseas supplier in the UK, then thought about the benefits of buying from an Australian supplier - quicker turn around, consumer protection laws etc. I had been putting off buying one for financial reasons, but I got a job so had enough money so went ahead and ordered one from Queensland. It is an original Dyson product, same Dyson part number (9065 6530), not a cheap copy. I double checked it would fit my machine, since Dyson have changed the fittings a few times, and as an ex Parts Interpreter I am well aware of the frustrations of receiving a part that is wrong and doesn't fit. As an aside I also looked at second hand ones on Facebook Marketplace. I'm not comfortable with the idea of using someone else's used tool on my carpets - you don't know what it may have been used for. I also researched the product on YouTube, to see if the performance really was as expected. There was a technical issue with my order from the Queensland supplier, which resulted in a delay, but they kept me informed and the item eventually arrived. I have just used it for the first time this morning. I was hoping for clearly defined clean areas i.e. like all the Professional Carpet Cleaning photos, but that didn't eventuate. However the clear bin did have more debris than when I used the Flat Out Floor Tool, so I'm expecting with more use over time the Turbine Head will pull out more debris. It has an interesting quirk too - there's a small cover on the side which you pull out for carpets, and push back in for hard floors. Without this you'd need to keep changing tools between carpets and tiles, which would be a nuisance. With freight from Queensland I paid $154.90. Is it worth it ? I think so, the Turbine Head provides more power for deeper cleaning. Noise wise, it's not very noisy at all, much the same as the Power Head on my old Volta. I did run over a headphone cord by accident, but it was easy to untangle. I've also learnt to buy any accessories at the same time as you buy a new vacuum cleaner. It might cost a bit more, but your carpets will be cleaned better from day 1.
