My bub had green stools for months on S26 gold. Had all sorts of tests done. All was clear. It continued until we started solids.

Hi my little one is almost 4 weeks old and has been on s26 gold comfort since 11days old. His poo is extremely loose dark green in colour and has a really sour smell. He also seems to have tummy pain at times and pushes really hard to pass wind or looks like he is pooing. Is this normal for this formula ?

Hiya,

I wouldn't know the answer to that as all babies are different. If you're worried I would highly recommend taking your baby to the doctor and getting them a check up.

Yeah I think it would be wise to seek professional help. You might need to find a formula that's lactose intolerant but definitely seek a Dr's advice for that first! Hope that helps

My son is 5 weeks old. I use s26 comfort at night so he sleeps and I can get shut eye. The 3 times he has had it no issues but tonight he had his first bottle was fine then second bottle he threw it all up. Should I continue with this product? I have tried nan comfort he hated it, cried a lot, was constipated, very unsettled.

Hi my has been on s 26 comfort since 4weeks and hes still having it now with a mix of cows milk hes now 15months ..
Have u tried to make the 2nd bottle smaller? I think u should try 1 bigger bottle and maybe one or two smaller ones . I have had that moment with my son before ..when he was littler he keeps sucking because its soothing but is tummy is actually full..so then he would throw up..
We had a lot of trouble with other formulas too
Maybe try for another week see how u go ..

Hi Rim, maybe you should wait and see how he goes, the Dr told me that you shouldn't swap formulas too often you need to give it at least a week. I would ask your dr or health care if you are concerned. I personally found S26 Lactose Free the one that worked best for me, however my son is not lactose intolerant.

Hi I did find comfort block my son up. I am on Heinz natural and my son sleeps through on this.

Every child is different and a lot of the time, just changing formulas can block them up. I have found that if they are only taking a little bit...its probably not the formula for them and they are only taking absolute minimum because they are hungry/thirsty. Comfort formulas are ALL designed for constipation prone babies! They use a different oil that helps with bubs poops. Both my girls have ALWAYS been constipated, one did really well on comfort formulas, the other got diarrhoea! so it is really dependent on your child I'm afraid, Keep trying and you will eventually find one that works for you! I could usually tell within a few bottles if bub liked/agreed with baby a formula. Its an expensive endeavour though as only a couple brands have trial sticks instead of buying full tins

Hi I'm thinking about changing my 6week dd's formula bc of the discomfort his been experiencing furring and after feeds he started out on s26 original but since about 5 weeks has been having really bad wind problems and everytime he brings up a burp his even uncomfortable it looks like it's acid, I noticed he dribbles heaps too. He poops everyday so constipation isn't an issue and he hardly chucks up milk. When I feed him sometimes I can hear the wind rumbling around in his stomach. Do u think this formula would be the right choice for my son?

There is no simple answer I'm afraid, I'm onto baby number 3, and when people say that every kid is different, they are definitely right. All my kids were on different formulas (although all had the cow protein allergy) The S26 comfort is a great formula and is VERY gentle on tummies but my neighbour had her boy on it from birth with no problems but he just turned 1 and she is having dramas weaning him from this to cows milk because it is SO gentle. Its all a matter of trial (although this can be expensive) and error (which leaves them and us with both sleepless nights and sore tummies). Sorry that's not much help

what is the difference between gold comfort and the lactose free

1 answer
lilyntillymum

Hi Kate, Gold Comfort is still a dairy based formula and does contain lactose but it is partially hydrolysed similar to a HA formula and it is made with palm oils which helps baby poop which can be a big issue with formulas especially gold formulas, I hope that helps

Hi my baby is 7 week old . We recently changed his formula from nan pro gold to s26 comfort as he was having lots of gas prblm, he still having gas prblm with s26 and he is doing green poo now so is that normal with formula or do we need to change again

1 answer
lilyntillymum
lilyntillymum

Dont ever worry about the colour of the poop... unless it has blood or is BLACK of course. Green poop is usually just a different level of vitamins/minerals etc in the formula.... S26 comfort tends to have a runnier poop because they use a oil in it to help babies poop as most "GOLD" formulas will constipate babies... as for the wind... well if bubby is windy and you have tried other formulas then possibly something more is going on. have you tried gripe water and colic drops? maybe you should visit your doc. It really is a matter of trial and error until you find the right formula, I know it can be frustrating but u will eventually get there!
