Sewing is fun again! Loving this overlocker.
I have always wanted an overlocker but always put it off as I'd heard how complicated they were to thread. But I have been sewing a few things lately and thought I'd take the plunge. I went in to purchase a different model, but this one sewed well in the shop and it has the coverstitch, which means I can sew knits and jerseys, a HUGE plus. I'm an intermediate skilled sewer and I am loving that I can make things so much more quickly. It is a little noisy but better than others. I've not had issues threading (I find the DVD easiest to refer...Read more
to if I forget) and it sews so nicely, no missed threads or skipped stitches. The Elna 845 is the same as one of the Janomes - Janome owns Elna now but I liked the look of the Elna better. Quality machine, my only gripe is there is no carry handle on the machine so it's awkward when putting away. But that is such a minor gripe, I'm really so happy with my Elna. Wish I had purchased one before now, it truly makes sewing fun again!Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Great machine, very impressed with the results
I have intermediate sewing skills and have been very impressed with the results I've had with my Elna 845.
Although I had never used an overlocker before, I found I was quickly able to set up the machine using the instruction manual. If I ever have any problems it's usually due to 'user error' and I go back and methodically check each step to make sure I've set up the machine correctly. Sometimes it takes patience but now I've used nearly all of the different stitches and have become quite fast at rethreading the machine.

elf is well made, good quality and sturdy. Others have commented on it being difficult to set up but I don't agree. I can only go off my experience and say if you follow the instruction manual step by step you won't go wrong. I haven't used any other overlocker so I can't say if it's easier or harder to use than other machines, but it has definitely expanded my sewing capabilities. There are many things I can sew now that I couldn't with just my ordinary machine! It's been well worth the investment. After 3 years I haven't had any problems at all. Impressive results; good choice of stitches; well made. Maybe a bit more expensive than other machines but worth the investment.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Terrible
Definitely not a machine to concider if you dont have infinite patience and a deep wallet. Its just not worth the money or the stress.
none. I have been back and forward for lessons and I still cant get the machine to sew. I have been sewing for over 20 years and my old Elna works from the day I brought it home. This machines manuals are easy to follow at all and I have spent hours trying to get it to work. 18 months of calling and going into the shop which is miles away and the only thing they keep telling me is that I am not threading it...Read more

My Elna 845 came with instructions for a Elna 745. I am battling to follow the threading procedure as instructions does not give you the complete method on how to, very complicated machine, never been able to use it since day one. I tried contacting Elna to request a instructions manual, however only get a 9 page brochure. I am not close to a City to take machine in. Is there any way that I can obtain the full 116 page instruction manual via email. Your great help and assistance will really be appreciated. Kind Regards Dolly
