What does it mean if u have one dark line and one light line in the window of a test

the first response digital test said no - and the second said yes and no with a question mark then stayed on a timer so what does that mean?

Do a grey line suppose to already be on a first response rapid pregnancy test in the test result area when you take it out the box?

Guest
Jackie
Jackie ·

Why do your tests keep showing a second grey line? This happens all the time on my tests with First Response. It gives false hope and is incredibly misleading. Your tests used to be accurate with no trace of a second line if they were negative. I believe you do this to mislead customers so they will buy more of your dodgy tests. FIX YOUR TESTS.

I’m beginning to notice some symptoms like missed period, mild cramps, nausea, tiredness. I took a first response test and to my surprise a light pink line showed up. Seeming though I’m only 16 I want some advice before telling my mum and causing myself some trouble. I’ve read many have had trouble with False positives so has anyone had any accurate results from this first response test?

Amd
Amd ·

First response is my usual go to, though lately l have had a lot of evap lines, if its clearly pink odds are you are pregnant.
l googled indent and evap lines pics for first response l found the pics accurate for what my evaps and indents looked like.
Clear as day pink (it doesnt have to match the control line) most of the time means pregnant.
Thats how it was with my pregnancies.
Good luck, l hope all goes well.

I’ve seen and researched the difference in lines and it isn’t a faint line it’s just really light pink and definitely isn’t an indent or evaporation. So I can’t help but assume it’s a positive result. I’m going to buy a few different branded tests tomorrow. I took the first response during the day and had already drank loads hence why i think not much hcg was detected. Very scary situation but I hope for the best x

I took this test today and the results window was blank until about 7 minutes after I took the test, to which it showed a dark negative. Is this a reliable negative?

Nic2
Nic2 ·

yes I would trust it. But it could be early so you could still be pregnant

Hi, I took the test at 8dpo and the line came up extremely dark, does this mean That I might got pregnant from previous cycle? As its too early to show this much dark line for 8dpo!!!!

Kelly
Kelly ·

Its possible. It could also be possible you have more HCG levels than other woman. Maybe you ovulated sooner. or there's more than one baby. Good luck and sticky baby dust

I done test yesterday. It showed 2line one black and other one light pink what's that mean?

JessV
JessV ·

I would think it's a faulty test. There should be no black lines. Only pink. I would test again.

Danni
Danni ·

If the dark line is on the test line (not the control line), it generally means that the test result is so strong that it has stripped dye from the control line which is an indicator of high HCG levels.

For those getting false positives, do you happen to remember the expiry date on the box? Wondering if theres a bad batch

5th of May and April 2018 were the boxes I used that gave an ACCURATE positive. Mine were from chemist warehouse.

I took the test with first morning urine and a negative showed up within the time frame but then a gray very very faint line popped up so faint you have to squint unsure if it is an evap it's bearly been 8 days past ovulation I want to test tomorrow but unsure if it is too early any advice? I am going to the doctor tomorrow maybe they can confirm it

JessV
JessV ·

I would wait atleast another 2 days to take a home pregnancy test. 8dpo is very early so a lot of doctors would even recommend waiting for a blood test

JessV
JessV ·

Also the line shouldn't be grey so that would make me think it is an Evap line. But definitely talk to your doctor. Goodluck.

Jess

If it's grey it's an evap line.

Okay just an update intercourse was on January 1st which I forgot to mention, it did not last long due to pushing him away so maybe a few seconds to a minute. I was so scared that i may have been ovulating so I took a generic form of emergency contraception that day it happened. I bleed early then my expected peirod which was January 14th my last peirod was on December 17th . It seemed like a normal period which lasted the usual time 6 days. It is now February and I still haven't started my peirod my OBG did a pelvic exam and ultra sound on February 10th and said I wasn't preganant unless i had intercourse again within this month. Even so I still feel unsure since peirod isn't here yet so in case took a test on February 14th this time digital it was negative. It is now February 15th so basically it has been six weeks since the incident if I was preganant would it really be accurate by now? I know I have seen that test are accurate after 21 days of unprotected intercourse and clearly its been 45 days past intercourse so basically a month all ready. I guess it freaks me out because I read up some women find out they are preganant at 2 months and a half when they had negatives. So I hope someone can please answer this.

I'm so dumb. Had no idea about the abbreviations. I am 8 days late for my period. Have some symptoms but 2 neg tests. Could I be sick maybe?

JessV
JessV ·

Oh ok. I would think you would have tested positive by now then. Might be another issue. I would see your doctor for a blood test in your case.

Danni

You could have ovulated late and a pregnancy test might've not been valid yet.

I am 8 do and have many early prg symptoms. FR test taken last night and this morning say neg. Do I remain heartbroken or could I be getting false negatives. I'm not hopeful as everyone else has gotten false positives. I'm scared and confused.

JessV
JessV ·

Definately wait another 1 or 2 days and test again. 8dpo is too early to get a positive. I got mine and 9dpo but it was soooo faint I thought i was imagining it. The line was easier to see at 10dpo. Some women can take longer than that though so keep that in mind aswell. Just keep testing every day or 2 until your period arrives. Good luck.

JessV
JessV ·

Also always use first morning urine as you will need the urine to be very concentrated if testing so early.

8 dpo is way too earl as most likely it hasn't even implanted yet. Wait at least a week and test again.

Jess
Jess ·

A positive won't show until 48-72 hours past implantation when the second burst of hcg is pushed through your kidneys. You may get a positive then, but don't be discouraged because tests vary in sensitivity. Just because an early detection test says it can pick up 6.5 min of hcg doesn't mean that it will. It depends on the time of ovulation and implantation.

I took a test today and the line closer to where you pee came up really dark and the right line came up faint but is visible, is this a positive result?

Nicki
Nicki ·

Hi, the line closest to the "wee" end is the test line. first response instructions state that if there are two lines (within given time frame and with following correct instructions) then it's a positive result. My example how ever proves that this is not the case! I did three tests and a second line appeared in all three! I really hope your tests aren't faulty! Good luck to you!!!

JessV
JessV ·

The line you say that is dark is the test line which would indicate a positive result. But the other line, the control, shouldn't be faint. It should be reasonably dark. I personally would test again. Although the they worked perfect for me, Id always test with at least another one or two different brands for confirmation. Otherwise go to the doctor for a blood test. Good luck.

So I have taken 3 of these tests because I'm 4 days late and they have all been positive. I seen a doctor for a urine test and it was negative. I'm booked in for a blood test but I want to know what you reckon? If the first response tests were all wrong?

Chloe

You probably have received a bunch of faulty tests showing false positives like most of us have.

My test looks like there's a bumpy line on top of a straight line where the test line is. Does this mean it's faulty?

Claire
Claire ·

My false positive results just looked like a faint straight pink line - I did 2 tests that looked like this. What you're describing sounds like possible indentations. It depends how dark the line is though. I would suggest doing another test to be sure. I found the digital ones most reliable. Hope this helps!

Sophia

Thanks. It's weird it's a dark bumpy line on top of a faint pink line...

I am 5 days late and I took a test on the day of my missed period.. Was negative, couple days later still negative however, I'm feeling really sick. I am now having a light bleeding what should I do next?

I would say you are not pregnant, but if you are feeling unwell go and see your doctor.

What does it mean when 1 pink stripe is faint?

Completely objective

Hi! I'm no expert but as far as I understand if there are two, sure lines it doesn't matter if the "test" line is lighter than the control line. Two lines means a positive test. If you can bear to wait (I know it's difficult to wait - I totally understand), test again in two days with first morning urine, and you'll know! All the very best!
