Hi Benz, is your trans auto, if so how did you go with trans temps, are you running standard cooler or have upgraded, any feedback would be appreciated. Regards
Hey all, got a pk ranger and have had problems with I believe fuel issue, it has kind of a cough when it is running and happens while driving or idle, and has come up with P0093 which is large fuel leak but there is no fuel leaking, have replaced filter, primer, pressure sensor, SCV, injectors, glow plugs, had the tank cleaned and also had the fuel lines pressure tested to make sure not sucking air. Anyone got any ideas as to why it would cough?? I am replacing the pressure relief valve on the end of the rail next because when it does cough, it pushes fuel past it and don’t know if it ment to be there as normal operation or if it’s just a safety valve and isn’t ment to open under normal circumstances.
Thanks all
This doesn't make much sense - engines don't exactly cough; however, if you're referring to the engine splattering then these faults are usually from the catalytic converter or unbalanced cam shafts o...
Read moretherwise I would recommend taking the vehicle to a holden australia workshop or possibly a reasonable mechanical repairs and servicing workshop. I don't think the problem is with the electrics though, if it is then perhaps a reasonable auto electrician workshop may be able to help. I also found ultratune auto service centres experts at diagnosis and repairs of faults though, gotta be careful and search reviews as some centres aren't as good as othersHi is the 2009 ford ranger pk 3 litre diesel a non interference motor?

GET it to a qualified professional mechanic who knows all about common rail diesels in Rangers & BT50........immediately.

The “twin mass” flywheel makes a pinging/rattling sound as you take off, or change gears. Once you get moving there’s too much other noise and you don’t hear it.

Is it worth buying a ford ranger pk 2010 m0dle with 240000 klms on it im looking at finance but dont want to be left paying off a lemon?
PK Rangers are a good ute, I've had two of them BUT any car with 240000Klms is going to need money spent on it and the more k's the more the cost. If you're going on finance, spend more and get someth...

I have a 2010 Ford ranger XLT drove fine yesterday stopped and filled the tank. Drove off and the engine light came on, lost power, any ideas what the problem could be?
Randal
Sorry, I don’t have any idea. I am not a mechanic. I do think that you need to take this to Ford to check. I only wrote the reveal about the PK2 which is my truck 2016.
Good luck and I hope i...
Sorry, I’m not a mechanic either. My review was about the new 2017 XLT. Take it to ford. Could be dirty fuel, or the fuel pump. Only guessing though :)
Hi mate what was the problem ? Did u get it sorted ?
I have a 2011 Ford ranger XLT 2.5 tdi and I would like to to replace the front break pads and I can’t find it in USA,can someone please tell me what websites can I buy it?
Hi can you put a baby capsule in 2011 Ford Ranger?
If it is a dual cab it will able to br fitted if it is a supercab you would have to put the seat considerably forward
In a dual cab yes but only on outside seats not the centre seat as there isn’t a latching point for the tether strap on the baby seat
How do I reset the engine light on a 2010 Ford Ranger V6?
Hi I have a 3ltr PK xl and under load between 1500 and 2000 revs I hear like a chirping squealing noise. If I feather the throttle it doesn't do it only under load. There is no power loss. Please any help? thank you. PS I'm new to these common rails.
Hard to say. Is this a manual or an auto? Best bet is a noisy “fan” belt and/or idler pulley.
Bit concerned that you are loading your engine under 2000rpm - this is not good. Keep engine rpm over 2000rpm when towing, hill climbing or towing.
It's a manual 5 speed . I was told to use the torque of the engine to tow with. I found it strange too. Ty for your reply. Most grateful
Can u put a baby seat in a 2009 pk supercab??
Not as far as I am aware, The newer ones have the required tie / fixing points, best suggestion drop into a Ford dealer and ask them
You can put a child seat but not a baby seat like a rear facing capsule. Mine has a sticker that says no baby capsule. I think this is because of the side airbags, but not all models have side airbags...
Read more. The anchor point is behind the padded backrest that spans the whole back wall. It is a threaded hole that you bolt your child seat bracket to.Issues with the pk 4x4 auto 2010 ford ranger. Problem is the 4x4 light staying on,(doesn't go out at all) it's not in 4x4. Speed o is reading half of actual speed that the vehicle is travelling. Been to ford and placed on the scan tool. Have replaced the Transfer Case Shift Motor, 4x4 module and a interior selector switch all genuine brand new ford parts. Checked relays, wiring and earths. Still have the problem. Has anyone got the answers to fix this problem please? Dazza/Julie
Same thing happened to me. Took it to 3 Ford dealerships until the problem was found to to be the4x4 sensor on the gearbox. 2500 later and its fixed!
I won't EVER take my piece of junk back to ford, nor will I buy another after this lemon...I had the same issue just before warranty ran out....I already knew what the issue was but ford woudln't hono...
Read morer warranty due to my geographical location so I wasn't and never will give them another cent to fix anything (last job I had them do on a transit ended with wires on the exhaust)...after following numerous forum posts I have fixed mine...so for $20 or less and an hour of your time and a forum search you can fix!!! now I need to fix some of the other lemony bits ...2 windows that when and IF they want to work screeches when they go up or down like it's scraping something in the door..and more recently the car keeps self locking even after opening door...Speed sensor on the transfer case, you can get one from Ali Baba for $8.00, borg Warner transfercase, same as greatwall dingle
My PK ranger has had a weird tapping / rattle noise since I bought it with 60,000kms on it. it's now done 105,000kms without any problems but the noise still creeps up.
It's a turbo diesel 2010 manual. I've taken it to 3 mechanics and 1 dealership and they all said they have no idea what it could be. There is no pattern between temperature, revs or fuel.
I have 3 videos on YouTube (including a cold startup noise I'm worried is related) recording the noise. Any ideas?

The problem all modern diesels face since Euro 6 was initiated is the build up of carbon / soot, (hence why the oil gets so grotty) If the car is driven around the city in constant stop start / idle t...
Read moreraffic this build up gets to the point where it will cause issues with the engine, the recommendation that is given is to take the vehicle on a trip at highway speeds to assist this soot to get burned off, the newer vehicles now come with a DPF filter(Diesel particulate filters are designed to burn off the soot by extremely high temp to try and avoid this issue) However it can exasperate the situation and it is well worth reading the owners manual throughly. I have had no issues as 90% of my driving is done long distances and I change the oil every 5000 ks instead of the 15000 k service intervals. I am surprised that the Mechanics have not advised you as the pinging/rattle tapping are the telltales of that build up and if not sorted could lead to engine damage.Your correct as there will be no correlation between temp, revs or fuel till it becomes catastrophic. Try taking it for a long highway drive (like they did back in the day to knock out the cobwebs so to speak) Thats the only way I have been able to sort that issue out. Its common with all common rail new diesels, I suppose thats the price we pay to stop diesel particulates from our atmosphere. Hope that helpsHello Brian,
Thanks for the ideas! The car has been a country car it's whole life until the last two years when I had to move into the city for uni. It was in the country and spent its life at Whyalla until I picked it up. ...
Read more I lived in the Riverland before I came to Adelaide to study, so they were all highway kms. I usually go back (200km drive) every 3 weeks or so, so that should be a decent run to clear it out I'm hoping. I was told too when I bought the car that it had its egr blocked (among many other modifications) before it clicked over to 100kms, so I'm not sure how the buildup could still occur. I was only told it's been blocked and I haven't had it confirmed by a mechanic but one of the gaskets on the egr sticks out a lot more than the gaskit in the same place on my friends stock pk ranger (3lt td), so I assumed. Also my friends pk has never made this noise in its life. I do baby it a bit sometimes and drive between 1.5 to 2.5k on the tacho, do you recommend I give it a bit of a pasting every now and then to blow out the possible buildup haha? The car has always had its oil changed at 10,000k intv or 5,000k intv when I can afford it!Looking at buying a 2009 XL D/C Ford Ranger done 195,000ks diesel manual. What do l have to look for?

Has a ticking noise sounds like leaking manifold on a 3ltr diesel 2011 pk ranger gets worse when under load?
Darren, I'm afraid I have no experience with this, as my vehicle is a 2016 XLT. Would be better asking someone with a similar model
and age.

Hi Darren, sometimes the injector washers leak and this creates a ticking noise. It will usually get worse with time. If you take off the plastic engine cover you will see black splatter around the in...
Read morejector. If it is not the leaking injector washer then I'm not sure what it is. Mine sometimes makes a ticking noise for a day and then it stops for weeks or months. I'm not too bothered as it goes away fairly quickly.I believe Rocket is on the money. Had the same problem nearing Coober Pedy. Thought it was a manifold gasket. Take the engine cover off and place a drop or two of RP7 at the base of the injectors. Sta...
Read morert up and you will see the problem seals leaking as they spit through the RP7. Injectors can be difficult to remove but the seal kit comes as a 4 piece so do each one if you can, If you do not have the correct puller and technique for removing the injector its best left to the professionals. About $450 for two seals to be replaced. What fuel economy for 2010 4x4 ranger towing 1500 kg pop top
I got 15 liters for 100 klm
I was a bit disappointed
Any comments
I towed a 25ft caravan got around 20lt to 100km, my mate has a bt50 and tow's his 6m aluminium boat gets about 17lt to 100km.
But makes a big difference if you sit on 95km an hour or less but I don't want to anoy anyone behind me off on the highway
We tow a 2t full van with our manual 2010 PK and get 13 to 15 l/100. I rarely drive over 90kph
Might be buying a 2011 ford ranger PK (space cab) 4x4 turbo diesel with 135xxxkms for $24000 what should I be worried about?
Cheers
Do a lot of research before buying a ranger. Especially with 100K plus milage. Major over heating issues (crack head blown head gasket etc) cauaed by EGR system. There are other issues most of which can only be solved by a Ford dealer $$$$$.
I,m with Graeme 6, whilst Ford don't advertise it you have to replace something called a CTU Valve every 100,000 Km's, our 2014 Wildtrak blew the engine at 90,000 Km's and Ford won't have a bar of rep...
Read morelacing it because it's over 3 years and out of Warranty.Hey "The Little Fella", can you elaborate on this CTU valve? Is that an engine component or a transmission component?
Engine management light came on and car went into limp mode...what can be the cause for this???
Sorry do not know, suggest that you take to a Ford Dealer, they will be able to hook it up to there computer and fix, unfortunately mind showed nothing on the dash.
Thanks Neil
Lots of possible causes for this. I recommend taking it to a dealer for them to read the fault codes.
We had this problem after buying 09 ranger in 2014. The problem started after a couple of weeks. Mechanic brother tried everything. We eventually took it to ford dealer. Solved in 15 mins. It was caus...
Read moreed because some wiring harnesses were made too short. Normal motor shake under any circumstance could randomly make light come on.... limp mode etc. The problem bit of wiring is in the wiring harness between the camshaft sensor and the computer. It was stretched under the engine compartment inside the wiring harness. Ford dealer had seen it b4. Fixed in 15 mins. Nevr recurred and thats a year ago. A common problem.Get an answer from our members and Ford representatives
