Warning: Leaks Like A Waterfall
OriginalIt leaks so much that its actually ridiculous. For the price I paid for this, I feel ripped off. I'm suprised the company has not done anything to address this!
Dumb design & leaks
Next GenerationThe pop lid design never works first go. The complex system of the pop lid collects coffee and milk and goes rancid, even with washing. After taking the lid apart to try and clean the disgusting lid, it won’t go back together.
Don’t wait your money.
Ceramic Reusable Cup - its a silicone based ceramic (not clay or earthen like cup)
Reusable CupI haven't tried the cup yet, so maybe it's a great cup, maybe not.
Just want others buyers looking for a ceramic cup to know that it is a silicone based ceramic (Frank Green support told me this when I complained the internal layer wasn't ceramic). So it doesn't have the same feel or look as a clay/earthen glazed coffee cup at home. It is still ceramic, but silicone based.
It seems easy to find a nice ceramic glazed cup with a silicone lid. I was hoping this was the solution for a screw top lid. I have little kids who accidentally knock things over.
Great customer service! No issue with leaking here!
OriginalUnfortunately when I received it, it wasn't perfect with a small scratch on the base. I emailed customer service with a photo and the next business day I got a reply to say a replacement base is on its way in Express post! Got it in the mail a few days later and they had upgraded me to the next generation base! Great cup, no leaks, looks great and practical.

Don’t even.
OriginalThe cup leaks like an uncontainable waterfall. It surprises me how much more liquid leaks as i hold it up right, when trying to wipe off the original leak. This product is definitely not worth your money. considering it’s price, you can get much better product than this.
Expensive and leaky
OriginalFor something that costs as much as it does, this cup leaks all over the place. I thought it didn't have a seal inside the lid but it does so the fact it leaks is baffling. Awkward to sip from as well, and sometimes will just bubble your drink on to your nose from the 2nd air hole. Main cup is fine to wash but the lid takes on a lot of water and you either have to unscrew it all to dry or stand over the sink for a while shaking out water.
Doesn't really have a thermos function.
Never used the tap and pay function because I have a phone so why would I?
Looks good, that's it.
Not what it looks like and not worth the money
Reusable CupFrank Green has a reputation for being well-made, but sadly, their products don't live up to that. I ordered a reusable cup that was really not much like the product I thought I was ordering. The most glaring fault that immediately arose was that the colours didn't match the websites images. My base was 'Marine Blue', which on their website is very clearly a nice deep ocean blue. When it arrived, it was a green colour that looked more like algae than anything else.
I very purposely tried to match my colours ('Royalty' button, 'Living Coral' l
... Read moreid and 'Marine Blue' base), and on their website - where you can play around with their colour selections - it looked like it would match nicely. However in reality, they don't look great. Setting aside the colour issues, which can realistically be let go for the sake of the cup doing it's job of providing a sustainable alternative to takeaway cups, the product is pretty poor quality. It's certainly not worth nearly $50. The sealing capabilities are weak, with liquid easily seeping out unless the cup is still and upright. Whatever the outside of the cup is made of also scuffs really easily, so it looks worn out with even a light graze of a fingernail. I literally bought this last week, and it already looks like I've had it a year. And all I do with it is carry it in my hand as I walk to the coffee shop and then walk home. And then there's washing it. The lid design is aesthetically pleasing, in that it's simple to use. Press the button, drink, press it again, it's closed. But this is a surprisingly complex contraption, which makes cleaning it unnecessarily difficult. Especially given it's so fragile in terms of scratches, dings and scuffs. I couldn't possibly recommend this for anyone, nor will I ever buy from their website again.Looks good but not functional
Stainless SteelI bought the original cup (polymer) and then more recently the stainless steel cup. Honestly, I wouldn’t waste my money on Frank Green. They are overpriced with many design flaws. There are many other better products out there to pick from. The lid design was not very well thought out for function. It looks good on the shelf but that’s about it. The design process is too try hard to be sophisticated. I thought I’d give them a second chance when I bought the stainless steel but even after 3 years they have made no changes in product improvement. It is definitely not leak-proof so im not sure how they got away with claiming that...
Great in theory, leaks in reality
OriginalI love this design, it's the only reusable coffee cup I can get a coffee in and throw in my handbag knowing it won't leak. Perfect for a mum with kids and 6 bags to carry. The coffee / tea also stays warm for a long time as it's sealed.
The downside is that although it doesn't leak when you keep it relatively upright in a handbag, after 12 months of use it leaks as soon as you tip it up to take a sip. I've disassembled and reassembled the lid & screwed the lid on super tight but nothing works. It's now useless.
Very disappointing for a product that you purchase to be more sustainable. Apparently they are made from recyclable materials, but who knows where it'll end up if you throw it in your recycling bin?

DO NOT BUY THIS CUP
Stainless SteelPlease do yourself a favour and read the reviews before purchasing this cup. Leaky, leaky leaky! The company knows there are problems but they act like it's somehow your fault. For a company who claims to have a sustainability imagine, their customer service is atrocious. They receive so many negative reviews and yet do nothing to solve the problem other them tell you to dissemble a brand new cup and reassemble it to try and stop the leaks. I wouldn't even pay $5 for this let alone $30.
It leaks and the lid mechanism broke.
OriginalFrank Green refused to provide a refund and they actually stopped replying to messages. Don't waste your money on these cups, they look good but that's about it! Poor company.
Leaks, smells and doesn't stay warm long
OriginalWorked OK for the first 6-12 months with only occasional small leaks but now consistently leaks all over the place. The push button mechanism it quite complicated with lots of places for milk and coffee to get lodged and then REALLY smells after a while as its hard to clean. We also paid extra for the stainless steel cups after initially buying the original - did not make a single bit of difference to heat retention and was luke warm after an hour. I honestly dont know how these are still sold everywhere when they're SO BAD

Leaks like a champ, super awkward design, stupid lid, worst cx service, bad manufacturing
Stainless Steelone of the worst products I've ever used. Basically nothing is right about this cup.
1> like I told their customer service ppl, the way they are manufacturing it is outdated, proven by the soldering line inside. This means whoever is making these stainless steel cups for them are just as normal as those 5-10 dollars ones. If you look at the mugs made by Zojirushi, their products don't have these connecting marks anymore. So their product is not worth 40 at all.
2> let's talk about the lid they are so proud of. it's such a stupid design, if you
Love these cups
Stainless SteelI have three of these cups the original, next gen and Stainless steel and I love them all. I love that they can just be chucked in my bag when I'm finished and they never leak. I love the texture of the Original and Next Gen cups and I love the thermal ability of the Stainless steel, my coffee was still hot an hour later, the only thing I would change in the stainless is the texture I prefer the Co-polymer casing for the non slip.
You do need to watch the lid assembly tutorial to get it right. I don't use the tap feature so can't comment on that but love the cups.
Leaks
Stainless SteelMy Frank Green stainless steel cup has always leaked from the moment I bought it, and yes, I am putting the lid together correctly. I have it filled well below the "max fill" line and it still leaks. For the price it is terrible quality. I will never buy Frank Green again.
The store I bought it from, The Clean Collective, suggested I wasn't putting the lid on right.... It's not that complicated.
I stuck with it because it was so expensive, it seemed wasteful to replace it but after several months I can't put up with it anymore. Also, I have only ever hand washed it and the coloured coating is coming off all over, it looks awful.
Not a durable product
Stainless SteelRating it a 2 because after 5 months of use, the cup is starting to show wear and tear. You cannot put this in the dishwasher. I love the design and the colors but this product is not durable. I contacted Frank Green for a replacement and got a "no". You would expect an expensive product like this would last further than 5 months. Very very disappointed with Frank Green. Would NOT recommend this to anyone.
Disappointed, poor finished look
Stainless SteelBought it for2, no experiences on its usage quality yet, will update later.
first impressions on these products is ZERO. Poor finished look. The connection btw lid and cup is worse, push button required hard force than I think. The colors tone is bit different from the website.
Overall not worth for my money.
Leaks and lid is difficult to screw on
Stainless SteelThe lid on my cup is really difficult to screw on and most baristas give up as it takes too long to do. The cup leaks badly and I have ended up with coffee all over my clothes on several occasions. I also find the hole at the top uncomfortable to drink out of and coffee always drips over the top after drinking from it.
looks and sounds great but leaks!!
Stainless SteelI bought this to use for school and it worked great for 1 month before liquid started leaking out of the air hole. I emailed them and they replaced the inner lid parts for free, so the problem was resolved...but then it started leaking again only 2 weeks later. While it does keep your liquids hot or cold for hours, the leaking is greatly disappointing as its the reason I bought this over other travel mugs. Its frustrating that this is an issue for a product that is quite expensive and preaches about being "well-designed, stylish, and really convenient." A leaky cup is neither well-designed nor convenient.
Just more landfill - better to get a takeaway cup
OriginalLike many others - this cup leaks from the seal after only a couple of months of use.
It would appear the material selected for the cup lid is too soft to use in a coffee cup and deforms/shaves away with constant removal and replacement of the lid.
I reached out to frank green to ask for a replacement lid - rather than just send one out - they wanted photos, then wanted proof of purchase and where I got the cup from.
Nobody else makes frank green cups - I'm not trying to trick you by asking for a replacement lid.
The company obviously doesn't care about customers or the environment.
Do not waste your money on this overpriced landfill.
Impossible to clean
Next GenerationNot a bad cup but so many pieces it’s really hard to put back together after cleaning - and is virtually impossible to clean properly especially when drinking almond milk based drinks. I see these tiny fiddly pieces going missing very soon too.
Works well, but hard to clean
OriginalMine doesn't leak at all, as long as the lid is screwed on firmly. So it is functional.
However it's hard to clean, as the lid assembly has nooks and edges, so you can only clean it so much day-to-day, and you'll have to disassemble it from time to time do give it a proper clean. Even then it's difficult to get it completely clean.
The cup also retains a coffee and dishwashing liquid odour even after drying. Maybe it's just the nature of plastic.
While it is durable, the exterior is prone to staining. Mine is in great condition, but it does have a light stain on the outside which doesn't wash off.
Perfect Reusable Cup
Stainless SteelI have been a long time keep cup user but found the coffee to go cold too quick, the stainless Frank Green cup is like a thermo flask and stays hot for ages. Mine seals perfectly. I was dubious after reading some reviews but glad I decided to give it a go.
Innovative yet practical cup
Next GenerationAt the outset I should admit to having been a loyal KeepCup supporter for a number of years but the Frank Green Smart Cup (Next Generation) is superior in several ways.
1. Easy to maintain - just remove and wash the lid daily, along with washing the cup interior with mild soap. The cup and lid dry very quickly ready for the next use.
2. Over time the plastic does not taint the taste of coffee especially as the cup interior is smooth in texture.
3. Having read other reviews which complain of leaky lids when the cup is inverted - just don't use
This bottle leaks and Frank Green refuses to provide a refund or replacement
Stainless SteelI bought this bottle for my Mum for her birthday. It started leaking within a couple of days. Despite me requesting a refund or replacement from Frank Green, they continually refused to do this and instead sent me spare parts, requiring me to manually fix the lid myself following instructions on a video. Despite doing this twice, the lid still leaks. Very disappointing that such an expensive product is unable to be used at all due to the leak, and that Frank Green won't take responsibility for their faulty product, putting me through a never-ending process to get the problem fixed which is no doubt intended to make me give up altogether! I have made a complaint to the ACCC.
High quality, great looking!
Stainless SteelI bought this and then read the reviews and was prepared to be disappointed but it's awesome! Keeps stuff hot for hours, doesn't leak or dribble and looks fantastic. Highly recommend
Overpriced rubbish
OriginalPurchased two cups for my wife and I. They both leak from the seal. Overpriced cheap rubbish. The lid is also annoying to clean and retains liquid which also leaks when drinking.
Overrated
Stainless SteelI was pleased with the website experience when shopping online and even though I thought it was overpriced I still gave it a go. Pure frustration. There's only one good thing about it - It looks good. But what's design without function? Size: The regular mug size's volume capacity is inferior than a normal regular coffee, therefore you'll end up drinking less coffee than usual. Cleaning: Not practical at all to clean. It's internal mechanism is quite intricate and if you want it perfectly clean you'll have to keep pulling the pieces apart and p
... Read moreutting back together all the time. Drinking: The orifice where you sip the coffee through is not ergonomic at all, which makes the pure act of having a sip kinda weird. Don't fall for the hype. I'm reselling mine.poor company on all levels
Next Generation1. mug arrived leaking
2. build quality with jagged edges and uneven lines doesn't warrant the $40 + shipping pricetag
3. was quoted 7-10 working days, it arrived in 14
4. the rubbery exterior scuffs and scrapes at a worrying rate. expect your mug to look old enough to replace within a month
5. rudest, most dismissive customer support who do not want to help at all with my concerns
6. there is a noticeable plastic taste if i brew my coffee straight into the mug. i have to allow my shot to cool before pouring it into the mug, lest i want an unappealing taste of chemicals with my coffee.
such a shame as the design has potential
Very very disappointed.
Reusable CupI bought two cups about 15 months ago.
Believing the hype about how good they were. Being leak proof. I have found them to be anything but leak proof.

Worst bottle ever. Always leaks
Stainless SteelFor reference I have the stainless steel water bottle and use it for ice water.
This is the worst water bottle I have ever used. It constantly leaks through the lid and the paint quality is terrible. The paint started wearing off within the first few DAYS of use. I emailed frank green about it and they said it is just regular wear and tear. Sorry but a $50 bottle should not be wearing down in less than a week!
The leakage is always a big problem. Stuff in my bag always gets wet. The condensation on the lid is also crazy.
Don’t waste your money on this bottle. You’re better off getting something from Kmart for better quality and less money.
Not quite perfect
OriginalI obtained my Frank Green cup during a Sydney Westfield x Frank Green promotion and generally use it to drink coffee or tea on the go. It’s relatively light-weight compared to other travel cup options and easy to carry around.
However, like other reviews, I found that the cup/bottle tends to leak but only if the outside rim of the base and/or the inside rim of lid (i.e. the areas where the lid and base are screwed together to close the cup) is wet. Solution is to wipe down these areas with a paper towel and ensure that they are completely dry before closing the cup - not 100% foolproof but it works.
Leaking is a problem
OriginalI have a large and a small one of these cups. Love the design, love the flow of coffee from the spout, but after a while I am getting coffee all over my lap which is leaking from the seal between the lid and the cup. Latte and other frothy beverages it isn't a huge problem, but more watery drinks like iced coffee and tea it leaks almost every time. I have to take a napkin with my coffee to prevent getting drips all over me.
I really wanted to love this cup but I cannot with such a design flaw- especially when it is promoted as "spill proof".
Nice cup, not so nice customer service.
Stainless SteelThis is a nice cup, and I've bought a several for friends and family in the last 12 months. It's not cheap at all, $40 for a coffee cup. I was disappointed with the customer service when I emailed to ask them to add a code to my order which would save me the shipping cost, they refused to. One would thought being a loyal customer (this is the 6th cup I buy from them), they would have the courtesy to at least allow free shipping if I have a code, I emailed straight after. Had they allow it, I'd keep recommending and gifting it to people, but now it's just disappointing.
Love Love Love IT
Next GenerationLoving my smart cup! I got it for myself for Christmas and it has been great ever since.
It doesn't leak and I can use it anywhere, as it is the Visa pay wave.
(not sure why the "bottle" reviews are in with the cup reviews).
I loved mine so much, I bought them for friends and family for Christmas.
Good idea, poor manufacturing quality and design
Stainless Steel- When drinking from one "hole," the beverage will leak from the other hole if the bottle is tipped too far ie. when drinking last few drops
- Significant force required to push down open/close button
- Leaks when screwing on lid if more than 3/4 full
- Rough edges and cheap, poor quality plastic on lid (cracked causing the lid to leak when dropped onto lino floor from 20cm)
- Paint on body of bottle chips off over months with normal use
It does keep water quite cold for a fairly long time.
Bottle Leaks With Poor Customer Service
Next GenerationThe bottle leaks. It leaks frequently and this company will not do anything to fix the problem. It seems that I am not the only one who is experiencing these leaks going by the negative reviews I have seen on Facebook, YouTube and plenty on this site - ieatwords.com.au. One only has to look at the number of complaints pertaining to leaks on this forum alone to realise that frank green has done nothing and likely will do nothing to resolve these issues (ongoing history of *leaks* for at least 3-4 years). One would think though frank green wo
... Read moreuld do the honourable thing and resolve these problems... but that's where we find that the problems go further than just a poor product with a design/manufacturing flaw... the problems also stem from the staff/company itself. In an area as competitive as the water bottle market, you'd think frank green would be more proactive/reasonable/courteous in addressing such problems... as there are far better products with far better product guarantee and customer support. Is it any wonder that you now find less frank green products sold by third party online & retail stores -> just too many problems with frank green product & staff to make it worth their while.Just don't
OriginalThis cup does not do anything a reusable cup shoud do...
1. Hold liquid: It leaks badly! I don't trust this cup. It has spilled all over my bag and all over my shirt when drinking on more than one occasion.
2. Be easy to clean: Coffee wil stain this cups outer material like nothing you've seen before. Stains do not come off unsless you want to spend 10' cleaning the outside of the cup every day.
3. Keep beverages reasonably hot for a while: Your coffee will be cold in a matter of minutes.
4. Reuse: You're not going to... see above.
So just don't.
Best type of sustainable and recyclable cup by far.
Stainless SteelI love FG cups and have several types. The water bottles are a great size and the stainless steel keeps the drink chilled or hot. Best of all my lipstick wipes off easily and doesn't stain like with other type of recyclable cups. FG doesn't leak like others do so perfect for the handbag. Its handy to use the Next Gen pay card for other purchases too. Love that I can change colours too. I like that its all Ozzie made too! Hope they bring out espresso ones soon!
Quality does not match price point
Next GenerationMy girlfriend and I purchased 2x next gen cups as gifts. Both arrived promptly however one had a manufacturing blemish. They replaced it however the replacement showed the same blemish.
My girlfriend has subsequently purchased one for herself and it also has issues. the lid and base are the same colour however different shades, there are marks I assume also from manufacturing, the lid edge is poorly finished and rough, when screwed down is also slightly askew.
They are a nice idea with the built in payment however for a premium price the quality is lacking. You would expect issues like this at half the price or less.
