published

Best mower I’ve used (including a good Honda)

published

Only had 1 issue which was it spat dirt and grass at me because the catcher’s spring wasn’t good enough. Nothing a jockey strap wouldn’t fix.
Would recommend to anyone looking for a good cheap mower.
The self-propelled saved me so much effort and the grass was very fine. Good mulch.

not so bad

published

it's not the very good one
but it has a good motor but bad candel
the storage is not connected in a proper way
So the suction for the cutting grass is not working as it should be.
but for such price it's not so bad but put in mind it's for small areas and short years time

Waste of Money

Bought the gardenline push Botton start mower from Aldi special buy Saturday room the mower home asked the staff if I needed anything to go with the mower they said no get it home and you need mower oil as it’s empty. Once put together mower lasted 20min and just died would not start again. Rang after hrs care I’m still waiting for a call back 24 hrs later. So took the mower back to Aldi upper Coomera was told they can’t take mower back with petrol or oil in mower very duty manager had a bad attitude. Buyer beware on this mower.

Does the job

published

Does the job, reasonably priced and engine is strong enough to cut my medium lawn.
Aldi is good store to shop at for bargains.
So far had this mower for about 12 months and no hassles start first time every time, only thing I noticed it blows bit of smoke uphill more then normal

wouldn't recommend. Rather buy a mower where spare parts are easily available

published

I wouldn't recommend buying one of these. Its fine until you need a spare part or need the warranty filled. My mower needs new blades and the self propeller cord snapped. The mower is cheaply made. One of the levers fell off. The hose attachment broke on the first day. The place in Dandenong who does the servicing and repairs said they don't keep any spare parts so if you need new blades or a service or anything fixed at all - the turn around time is about 4-6weeks minimum - which is ridiculous.

Not too bad for a "no brand" mower

published

Got this in one of the Aldi special buys. Aldi is always a bit of a gamble for things like this but I read reviews saying that this was quite OK and I have found that true. For a no brand machine, it has been very reliable (two years now) and apart from some dubious quality metals here and there, I am happy enough with it. It always starts (need to prime it) and does a good cut. The blades aren't the best but at all works and is good for the price paid

Always starts first time - good simple mower

published

I have had this for over a year and it hasn't need any kind of service - nothing! It always starts first go too. Not sure if I lucked out and got a good one but my experience relative to the price has been excellent. I am more of a reluctant gardener (I mow because I am obliged to) so perhaps others care more about the details but for me this has been excellent. The only cons are: I don't love the catcher design - its not that sturdy and occasionally I have to manually scoop grass out of the chute as it can clog up. That would be only once in a while and more often if the grass is damp. I can adjust the blades down and get a pretty decent low cot. Good mower (so far)

Mower has surprised me.

published

Hi everyone i am very surprised how this mower is going. I received this mower when my had a catastrophic meltdown. My friend gave me his spare and i said to him what a pill of junk. Well not often that i have to eat my own words but this time i have to . For the cheap price of the mower's new it has not missed a beat in 2 years. If you are on a budget i highly recommend this mower.

Gardenline electric start Mower

published

The engine so far seems Okay but the body engineering design is less than amateurish with no comparison to other cheap mowers. The blades are above the level of the body guard making cutting difficult on uneven ground or tufts. The handle is too high with the result the heavy mower tends to want to lift off the ground at the rear when going uphill. The handle is also too weak allowing much flexing which just adds to the energy required to push it. This mower may work on even level ground with soft turf, but if you have hills or rough do not buy this mower. I ended up solving the issues by re-engineering at the expense of voiding any warranty.

Heavy and not enough power, it has no throttle.

published

I can not cut at number one position anymore, the mower get stuck, not enough power to cut. Blades are sharp. Getting the mower up hill is hardwork, it is heavy and not self propelled. If your garden is flat it would be easier.
To start mower is easy although no throttle switch only on and off. Fuel lne kept coming off had to get clamps to keep it on. It has recently stopped half way through mowing lawn. Have dismantled. It needs special blades for 2015 model. I Can not find parts manual for engine part numbers.

Its okay but small

published

its an okay mower it does the job. I find the blade quality lacking and requires to be sharpened often to ensure a great cut. The blade cutting size is also considerably small so if you have a larger size lawn than I would suggest a mower with a bigger blade cutting size.

All in all a good mower for the price. If you have issue aldi is great with returns and replacement.

It Cheap It Works

published

I got this because it was cheap, no bones about it. Also because with Aldi you can take things back if they have problems. Well, this works but I nearly did take it back because of the build quality. Its average and its a heavy mower for its size and hard to move around.
I kept using it though and despite its shortcomings, its reliable enough and does quite a good job of cutting. Would I buy another one? No, too many things about it are cheaply made but it's OK for now.

Good mower but very hard to get parts

published

Great mower had it for 8yrs no problems at all until drive cable snapped, took it to my local mower repairs and they could get a cable to match, had to ring the overseas dealer for this mower and still waiting ( its been nearly 2months) for cable to arrive. Other than that great self propelled mower for under $400

Purchased while in Bundaberg because sold out at home then purchased a new home in Brisbane with artificial lawn. Grandson uses to do their lawns and he loves it. Has got to be the best value self propelled mower on the market so make sure you plan your day when next on sale.

This was a fantstic buy. Purchased after hubby had a recient illness and wanted something I could hopefully use myself when needed.
Thus certainly delivered. Starts 1st time everytime. Cuts perfectly and super easy for even me and now our 13 yr old son has taken over the lawn duties in his chores and he even manages fine.
Purchased a year ago and still starts 1st time every time never had a problem with it would definatley recommend to anyone.

Works OK Quality Average

published

This mower is a cheap and cheerful Aldi special and it works fine.
The quality is not the best and I don't expect it to last forever but it does a good enough job. It starts easily and is good on fuel. I am not in love with the design of the catcher or the way it attaches. This is a good solution for people who want a mower for a few years, not forever.
Worth the price.

Works With Some Irritations

published

Cheap mower from Aldi. It has good and bad points to it.
Let me say the construction at first seems reasonably robust but closer inspection reveals cheap plastics and flimsy parts here and there. Much like a cheap pushbike.
It does start easily every time and does a fairly good job of cutting and I like the larger wheels - I have a big area to mow. Fuel use is OK too. It's just hard to see this lasting into the future like Victas and Rovers.
Time will tell!

Worst mover

published

Please stay away on any of the Gardenline product since i had a bad experienced. From the mower, edge trimmer to the blower are all poorly designed. Its cheap and its crap!!!! Mower's handle is falling off every few minutes since the method of fixing of the handle is by means of nut and screw which get loosen when you are mowing. Worst ever mower. PLEASE PLEASE stay away.
