I loved my vivofit 3- have now had 2. Every thing well for a year in both watches till battery ran out. Replaced battery- went well for 6 weeks and then watch stopped working. First watch did the same things. Is this a normal problem?

Yes, completely. I don't remember needing to take it off for the year that I wore it. The battery can be replaced but I've been told that the process may break the waterproofing seal.
I have had one for over a year & rarely take it off. Still has the original battery. I have just purchased one for family member & will definitel get another when the battery in this one finally dies.
Yes it is waterproof.
