Beware dangerous/slippery surface!

published

If I could give a minus I would. I am currently in hospital from having surgery to repair my shattered patella after slipping on the garage floor that was painted with this paint. Be warned it is extremely slippery when exposed to any form of moisture so don’t use it it you want to remain upright!

Followed instructions and it just chipped right off. Warning ..... don’t use this product.... bunning should be ashamed to stock it! I wouldn’t give it a star but apparently I have to!

Waste of time and money

Used on a protected ( not full sun) patio which has minimal foot traffic. The correct preparation procedure was adhered to, however, the paint started to peel after a few months. This product really should not be on the market.

disappointed with ultra pave

published

Degreased the garage floor thoroughly. Washed it with Berger jet twice. Etched it with Berger acid etch twice. Primed it twice. Put three top coats of Ultra Pave. Waited a week. Paint lifted off the floor where the car was straight away. Hopeless. Don't buy it.

Absolute crap peeling off the driveway and garage floor lifting from hot tyre got in contact with company and sent photo’s, the paint was applied as per spec on label, I have been a painter for over 40 years and this was a first with this product and it will be the last. No satisfaction from this company.DON’T BUY THIS RUBISH.

Ours is wearing off after a couple of weeks - wish I read this thread before using it!

We went to Bunnings asking for paint to paint our concrete driveway and they recommended this. I wish we had googled the reviews first. Bunnings need to read these reviews and take note. It is very frustrating to put in all that time and expense only to have the paint not last.

Particularly happy with product

published

Last week we used the "Quick Dry" ultra pave, following the instructions, and it bonded very well to our concrete verandah. Old verandah that had never been painted. Cleaned concrete, diluted 1st coat 20% with water & 2 hours later put 2nd coat on full strength. Early stage yet but looks fantastic .

Very Disappointed with the paint and Bunnings

published

I had my driveway painted by professional painter( had limited experience in driveway painting although a highly recommended painter )
When he came to quote on the job we decided that White Knight heavy duty Ultra Pave would be the best option
Boy was that a mistake
The paint has faded & peeled from car movement ( on a driveway )
It has turned a first class preparation and painting job into a second rate failure
Unfortunately I read the reviews after the problems appeared
Personally I cannot understand how this product is still on the market & supported by Bunnings
At the moment I'm trying to decide what is the best way to repaint this driveway

worst paint ever

published

It took me a week of preparation to paint a triple garage with two coats, looked really impressive until we drove on in .Bunnings told me this is because the preparation wasn't done properly, but the only place is peeling is where the car is parked. It peeled within a few weeks please improve the product because it really looks great otherwise.

Terrible product

published

The job was labour-intensive, taking about 6 hours to prep, and do 2 coats. The end product looked great. The medium grey colour was glossy and impressive. Friends expressed their admiration. However, I was soon disappointed when the paint started lifting when I drove the car into the garage. The concrete is not etched properly with their product. You need a commercial operator to etch concrete properly. The concrete has to be etched to absorb the paint. So now, if I want to sell my house in a presentable state, I either have to sand off the paint or "touch it up". A staff member at Bunnings suggested I do this. Bad product, White Knight should take responsibility and sand off the product at their expense.

I recently used this product on a clients garage floor as the specs said it could be used and resists tyre pick up. All prep was done correctly, washed thoroughly, etched, washed again, primed, and two coat finished. Looked great once done, the client left her vehicle off it for a week first time parking and reversing off the paint has peeled where the Tyers were sat.
I was scratching my head all day trying to figure out where it had gone wrong now reading the reviews on this page I know! Terrible product!

Slippery when wet

published

Why this paint is recommended for paths is beyond my imagination. It is absolutely not suitable. We have a flat path at the back of the house that we painted with this product this week. After overnight showers we looked at it this morning, rain has beaded on it and it is extremely slippery. I would never recommend this paint to anyone. I am now looking at how to remove this inferior and unsuitable product.

Fading Paint

published

We Applied 2 x Coats of White Knight Paving Paint to Our Driveway.. Within 5 Months it Faded
Went really Chalky.
A Representative came to Inspect the Paint.
The Rep. agreed that it had Faded Badly and offered a Free 10litre Tin to Fix the Problem.
That was a joke, more work for the same result??
Waste of money and time, we should have tech created it..

Paint peels away after 2 weeks

published

Painted my front patio late Feb 2018 and after 2 weeks the painted started to peel away and leave patches. It has ruined our front of house and now currently looking for a new brand to fix it. I will never recommend this product to anyone my 2 year old sons paint set hold better than this product. I'm glad I only got a 1L can.

Worst product ever

published

We bought this for our driveway, followed each instruction, scrubbed the concrete, let it dry, vacuumed and then diluted the first layer and followed with a full strength second layer. Within 2 weeks (no one drove or parked on it for 8 days after) it was pealing away.

I will never recommend the product or brand to ANYONE. We spent around 350$ on paint, what a waste that was. NOT happy.

Slippery when wet

published

Having previously used the White Knight paving paint on our Driveway and Garage in 2013 we are very disappointed with the Ultra Pave heavy duty formula applied this year. Whilst it has had some minor lifting the biggest problem is that it is very slippery when wet. Will now have to find an alternative product.

Very Very ordinary. Sticks to your tyres and not the floor (once dry).

published

I've painted a few garage floors in my time over the past 40 years, and this is the worst paint ever used. I didn't realise it was water based (as I was in a hurry) until I was nearly ready to paint. Poor adhesion. Seems soft. scratches & lifts easily. Gets lifted by car tyres just sitting on it. Really? Failure of primary function right there. Let alone any working on it in a workshop. Only a few months old and it looks terrible.

Unfortunately I did bought one of 4 litre Ultra concrete floor paint White night and then wanted to returned to Bunnings due to my neighbour’s advise which has used this product and found it extremely slippery and dangerous particularly on my garage isn’t flat on the same day Bunnings at Lidcombe has rejected the return of product and, while there has no explanation by staff simply giving me the impression of bad luck ?

I was told that for a garage floor a oil base paint is by far the only way to apply and I will not be able to drive n the floor for about 1 week. Is this true?

It was true for me. The paint remains sticking to touch so I certainly didn’t drive on it and when I did the paint just chipped off. Wouldn’t recommend this brand to anyone. Sorry.

I'm looking for advice regarding selecting a reliable paint for coating a previously painted concrete patio. (I've prepared it pretty well: filling cracks, scraping away loose bits, sanding, sweeping and hitting it with a high pressure hose). Members' revues of White Knight Ultra Pave are "fair warning", so what about Berger Non-Slip Extra Deep Paving Paint?

I can only advise you about white knight ultra pave and it was terrible. I followed all the instructions and within days it started chipping.
