Returns & Customer Service

published

I purchased this watch straight from the Garmin website. What a mistake that was!!! Not allowed to return at all. If I had bought the product from Rebel for example... I would have been able to exchange it. The customer service man was so aggressive and rude. Don’t buy from the website!!!

Above and beyond

A bit of a wait on the phone to speak with someone but once I got through I was speaking with an Aussie and my issue was resolved with in 5 minutes. We identified the cable was faulty and they sent me one for free. What amazed me was that I bought my Nuvi in 2013 and they were still happy to send the cable with no fuss!

Great products until something goes wrong

published

I’ve owned various Garmin products for close to 20 years and they’ve been great so when I wanted a gps watch about 4 years ago it was just a case of which Garmin I wanted. The Fenix has been a great watch but about a year ago it would shut down once the battery dropped to below 40% (a common problem I’ve since found out) but recently the watch shut down and won’t restart even when following the hard reset instructions from Garmin.
What’s worst though is garmin’s lack of response. I’ve tried contact via their website and email address, call centre and three social media feeds. No response after two weeks. Pathetic! You’d think they’d at least respond instead of ignoring the request for advice.

GARMIN APPROACH X40 : Good product but poor warranty

published

Bought a Garmin Approach X40 GPS Golf watch last year ... not a bad product but the charging cable pin broke. Garmin can only be contacted by phone which they are slow to answer - they stated no warranty on a charging cable as it is classed as an accessory. Well in my understanding of the law all products have to be warranted and be fit for the purpose in Austealia

UPDATE
Garmin responded to my email and are now sending me a new charging cable free of charge. I had to remind them of the wording in their product manual. Hassle but a win in the end. Thanks Garmin

The BEST customer service

published

I had a problem with my GPS which was a Christmas gift 2014. I contacted Garmin support who advised if I could produce proof of purchase they would replace. My son emailed them a copy of the receipt and the next day I received an email advsing me to send the old device to them. Within 3 days I had a replacement device. The people that I spoke with were great. I wish every Customer Service dept lived up to their name like Garman.

Garmin support is terrible

published

Bought a $400 Garminfitness tracker. 2 months later frozen screen and when I tried to charge it it became incredibly hot within 15 mins. Took it back to purchase point and was told to call Garmin, given wrong number to call. Got onto support who concluded the problem likely to be faulty battery and advised me to email copy of receipt to head office. Case file opened. Completed email as instructed. Head office emailed me back and advised me to post unit back to them. Sadly it is illegal to do this with a faulty lithium battery in Australia. Really poor effort Garmin. will update after I follow this up with them again.

Praise where it is due.

Garmin's customer service was being handled in Manila. Emails or website enquiries were directed to Manila, and all snail mail communications (even registered letters) were scanned and sent on to Manila. Eventually Garmin realized that Manila was not providing the service they were contracted to provide, and they brought customer service back to Sydney. Last week I spoke to a lady there who could not have been more helpful and for the first time since I bought it on 27.12.2011 my Garmin device now has updated maps.
