BEWARE OF THIS SCAMMER
Same disappointment as majority here experienced.
My company has purchased a Gift Card Planet card worth $250, and gave me.
Missed activation date, rang the company, wrote an email, was advised there was nothing they could do.
So, let me repeat.
Gift Card Planet have received $250 from my company, but they don't have the compassion and humanity to let me use a single cent in my gift card that I deserve because of missing this strict activation date.
I can understand the penalty of missing the 1-year expiry date, that's an ample warning and sufficient spending time and common practise.
But missing an activation date?????
I've never had to activate a gift card before, let alone given an expiry of 1 month of activation date!!!

DISGUSTED++ DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY THEY ARE ROGUES
This company are a total rip off, bottom of the barrel scumbags. Was given a $100 gift card at Xmas 2017 by my son. It was glued in a card so when I went to use it on the 20/6/18 that’s when I realised that on the back of the card had a “activation date 17/3/18” I have never been given a gift card associated with this company and having a activation date was a first. My son wasn’t told or given anything about it being activated by a certain date. I rang the number that was on the back of the card spoke to someone who told me that I had to send ...Read more
them a email. The email address she gave me was the wrong email after sending two emails and then ringing them again and given another email address. Finally I got the reply that I could not use this card cause it wasn’t “activated”, it’s expired! I have been to fair trade here in Townsville but being Queensland nothing can be done. So by word and mouth and social media I’m certainly letting everyone know DO NOT HAVE ANY DEALINGS WITH THIS COMPANY. “GIFT CARD PLANET” Bloody disgusting, just scumbags.Similar opinion? New Office of Fair Trading Laws now in place
I had enormous difficulty in receiving my gift card from this company. The card was issued by Fujitsu after I bought an appliance from Harvey Norman. Gift card Planet rejected my claim 3 times on trivial grounds and then claimed that they had lost my emails. After they finally agreed to send me the gift card in 2 days I heard nothing further from them for more than 3 weeks until I complained to Fair Trading.
After nearly 6 weeks I finally received the gift card.
The Office of Fair Trading were very helpful and advised me of new legislatio...Read more
n which should go a long way toward protecting consumers. The legislation is effective from 31 March 2018 and provides a lot of protection which should have been in place years ago. They warn that consumers should always read the Terms and Conditions and many retailers deliberately make these just a bit tricky and are aided and abetted by the gift card companies - you only have to read some of the posts here. Interestingly a lot of the appalling behaviour reported here would be illegal under the new legislation. Here is the link to the Fair Trading site. http://www.fairtrading.nsw.gov.au/ftw/About_us/Legislation/Changes_to_legislation/Changes_to_gift_card_terms_and_conditions.page#Activation_datesSimilar opinion? The perfect gift...GIFT CARD...What a scam avoid avoid avoid
I won a gift card at work October 1 2017 for 50 $.
Tried using it 31 May 2018. It was still in the original plastic package.
There was 26 $ left on it. Yes looked like a fool arguing with the cashier.
So I learned the hard way if you don't use it within the first year they charge 3 $ per month.
So the expiry date was 02/20 ....what a joke...a scam it should be removed from any store selling any type of card that abuses and mislead people.

what a terrible greedy company
They are thieves! my mother in law passed away and in going through her things we found a gift card she purchased just before getting ill. no one knew she had it until she passed away. unfortunately was just out of expiry. I called and asked if they could issue a new card on compassionate grounds, and the answer was a flat out no! they have just stolen $100 as far as I'm concerned!
I am so disgusted that they would take advantage of this situation! a person has died and they will not budge from their position!

Unbelievable!
Tried to use $300 3 days after the expiry date but was told too bad you've forfeited the money because you didn't use it on time. Complaints, requests all fell on deaf ears. Don't use these people if you are a corporation and steer clear if you are a consumer. These people don't deserve their business model to thrive.

Activation expiry date rip off
Got given several of these cards through a work promotion. They were within the use by date but I did not realise the card also had a activation date which had expired, needless to say I couldn't use the cards.
Definitely would not recommend this company to anyone.

Got my credit in the end.
Just a quick note re this gift card. I received mine in the post and after activating it, got confused as it said it had expired on the same day I activated it and that it wasn't available for use until the following day. I was reading the wrong year and it was for 2018 - so the right date. I read a lot of reviews with a similar story and wondered it they had made the same error? Also, when I tried to redeem the credit at Woolworths, I selected "gift card option" and was declined and customer service said they'd never seen that type of gift car...Read more
d before. I phoned Gift Card Planet (kept getting cut off after selecting the general info option) so just selected the "Harvey Norman" option and got straight through. I was advised I had to select "savings eftpos" option at the checkout which worked when I later went back in to Woolworths. The website says you can use the cards wherever EFTPOS is available so I would think you shouldn't have any trouble at large chains such as Coles/Woolworths/BIG W. Good luck to everyone trying to claim them!Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Very poor service from this company.
When attempting to check the balance on my card, I typed in the website printed on the back of the card exactly as printed and came up with an activation page that did not give me the option to check balance. I did this repeatedly over a few days, don't know why I expected something different.
I eventually called the "helpline" number. Went through one menu, got to the second menu, "press 3 for other enquiry", but pressing 3 does not register, no matter how many times you press it or for how long. After a while, it got sick of me trying to pre...Read more

I lost money like a lot of others
I received an EFTPOS Card issued by Gift Card Planet. When I attempted to activate it online the activation expiry date online was prior to the activation date in the letter which accompanied my card. I called Gift Card Planet and was told "You can no longer access the value of that Gift Card and nothing can be done about it."
A Case Study on the Gift Card Planet website alludes to unethical marketing practices:
"We were able to fix the fee on the promotion so that our client was protected against high claim rates. This pricing model also m...Read more

Gift card planet - Will I ever be able to redeem this gift card?
I was excited when I received a Planet Gift card for an award from work. When I tried to activate it I was informed I missed the activation period. This was not the case. My company contacted Planet Gift Cards and negotiated for other recipients in the same situation to have our activation periods extended. Again I tried to use my Planet Gift card- big fail! When I rang rang Planet Gift Cards I was pleasantly advised it was the retailers fault. I'm off to the ACCC!! Hopefully they will investigate and save others from what appears to be a big rip off!

A Current Affair/Class Action
If I wrote my review it would read nearly identical to the vast majority of the existing, however, I have decided to approach A Current Affair after my card from my claim which was approved in Oct of last year only just turned up, 2 MONTHS after their 3 month activation period had lapsed. I called and was asked to email the details and explain the situation and to request an extension which was immediately denied. This situation was completely beyond my control yet I have been penalised. In short, if you would like to join me in action against this company feel free to email me at [contact details removed] and use Gift card Planet ACA as the header.

Thieves - ACCC should do something about these types of dodgy offers!!!
We received our Good Guys eftpos card on the 15th of April 2016. We activated card online via website on 20-04-16. We went to use it in November 2016 and were told it was not valid at the store. I sent a couple of emails that did not receive a reply. I sent another email this year and was told the card had not been activated. I said that's not true as we did it on the 20-04-16. They reply back saying their system doesn't make errors. I questioned this and received no reply back. It's only $150 but i will not let this slide by on princip...Read more
le alone. These is a crooked way of getting people to buy products based on an offer and then have that offer revoked later and have no leg to stand on. I have also sent an email to Good Guys but have not received a reply - typical. I won't be spending any more $$$$ at Good Guys unless they sort this issue out. Beware shoppers.Similar opinion? absolutely AWFUL company. no ethics and disinterested customer service.
My review has one star too many ! Zero is more reflective of my experience. As so many other complaints have stated, my gift card was unusable due to the mystery activation date which was missing from my card. the company keeps my $400 dollars EVEN THOUGH it clearly states on the card that it expires according to the date printed on the front and that it must be activated prior to use, that's all for validity. My card is well within its expiration date unfortunately i can't access the money due to having not activated it within three months, a fact made known to me a month too late ! Really infuriating ! and the company have no interest whatsoever ! i would strongly recommend steering clear of this scam .

This is the biggest rip off I have ever seen
I was given a card by my employer for getting the business I manage to number one. The value of the card $2500.00 I read the back of the card and it states you have 12 months to use the card. I thought the card had been activated. I received the card in October 2016 and went to use it in the first week of March only to have it say the activation date had past. This is when I found out that there a 3 month limit on activating the card it had to be activated before the 12th January 2017. I contacted the company (Gift Card Planet) only to be told ...Read more
there is nothing they can as the original purchaser had been told the terms and conditions. Why is the term of the card activation on the card but not the activation date of 3 months. Does anyone know how I can get this decision changed.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!
