Great car that drives well, interior looks great and is easy to clean. the only let down for this car is the running costs. this car uses alot of petrol when being used for everyday driving. There is also lots of problems with the timing chain, mine needed to be replaced before 60,000 km and this is a common problem with this car. there is plenty of details of the fault online.

Great car, well featured, Aussie made!!!

Love my Holden's they have always been good cars. I like all the gadgets and it has heaps. It uses more fuel than my old one at 10.5 lt to the hundred. The tyres are poor quality and don't hold on. It slides down my driveway when i stop part way up and it's not a steep driveway. But this is only a minor issue as I will replace the tyres when it's down enough Km's to justify it.
    well made Aussie car.

This car seats five adults well. It's comfy on medium-long trips. The anchor points in the rear suit all my grandkids seats and capsules quickly.
Has the most wanted luxury and safety features in a big Aussie six/eight. Roomy. Caters well for the high and mighty driver (read TALL and OBESE). Airbags. Superb cruise control. Adjustable height seat-belts. Traction control. ABS brakes. POWER/ECONOMY option on auto gearbox. Steering wheel controls for stereo CD/radio.
MP3 player not yet available as with Toyota's fleet of Camrys, Aurions and Corollas. (Should be a GMH priority ASAP). Hungry on petrol if not driven smoothly. 11.5L/100km around town and and 8.3L/100km on the F3 freeway

I seem to be having some sort of engine problems with my 2009 holden barina sedan. It's almost as if it is missing in the engine when you go a bit faster but my mechanic says everything is fine. Has anyone else had the same problem?

2011 VE Series II Berlina Holden Commodore

    published

Purchased a near new 2011 VE Series II Berlina Holden Commodore Dual Fuel under 11,000ks for just over $30,000. Only had the car now for 6 months, experiencing intermittent starting problems. Taken back to 2 different Holden Dealerships located in Sth Eastern suburbs 6 times, still not fixed, won't replace any parts unless they can prove to Holden part is faulty. Taken car back for 7th time, my god the loan car...., break light failure message on display, no heater and the overheating warning message..., no water in radiator! Had to wait on side of road for a replacement loan car.
    Looked nice

This review is of a VZ Berlina that I owned up until April of this year. Unfortunately it was written off in the middle of a round-a-bout by another driver who wasn't paying attention. Up until that point in time it was the best car I ever owned. It's comfortable to sit in, pampers you nicely with a host of features and sports some impressive styling. Truly a great vehicle that I like even more than the newer VE range.
Wonderful to drive. Quick, responsive and corners without a fuss. Great for city driving and even better on long trips. Fantastic bang for buck.
    Honestly can't think of any.

    Very pleased with this car

    published

Very pleased with this car. Solid performance, feel safe and stable on the road. Able to pass other motorists with ease. Plenty of storage space and seating room for everyone. Stereo is adequate. Dash is well laid out. Fuel consumption is economicable on the open road, thirsty in the city traffic. Good line of viewing of road ahead and rearview due to location of mirrors and large rear windows. It is a large car, so people used to driving cramped, smaller cars may find it daunting to drive initially. When I first bought it, I noticed that it is very nice to maneuver in car parks (for its size).

Gr8 reliable car, good mileage, comfortable, nice looking,
have had a few repairs in the 1yr weve had it, but nothing major & parts are pretty easy 2 come buy..would recommend 2 ANYONE! very sad that we have outgrown ours :(
Nice smooth sleek design, love the trip computer,& all the other gr8 extra's.
    Very comfortable & reliable
NOTHING! butwouldvé liked 2 put extra seats in back(because i LOVE this car so much) but very costly as need 2 be custom made due 2 the new rounded design.. & once that happnd there wouldv been no room for anything else in boot once seats were in use :(

I am very happy with the car. Nice to drive, it gives that feeling of a better class of car. It is good to know that you have the extra safety feature. The look gives that sports & class finish. It also has the extras of roof racks, fog lights, leather steering wheel, sports dash, climate control.
Very nice to drive. The inside is finished of very well.
I find that the price is hight for the what you get.

Hi. I have whistle or rattle sound when my car is first started then eventually fades away . What would this be? thanks. My car is a 07 berlina commodore

A rattling sound on start up (when cold) could be beginning signs of a timing chain issue. Stay on top of oil changes & only use full synth recommended oil SAE 5W/30. (full synth doesn't break down as quick & performs better under high temp) Sludge will build up from lack of servicing/ not doing regular oil changes/ using wrong oil & causes many of alloytec's issues, so 3 most important things to keep on top of, 1 oil changes 2 oil changes 3 oil changes

so to do basic services on your car yourself how hard is it ? and where the hell is the oil filter?

Oil, oil filter, air filter are fairly straightforward. Oil filter on right of engine in front of dipstick (as you look at it). Remove engine cover (it unclips upwards with gentle pressure) to access it. To access sump plug remove underneath dirt cover (about 7 or 8 hex head screws), and sump plug is almost directly below oil filter. Oil and oil filter every 15000km, and I also put a container of injector cleaner in the fuel tank. 190000 trouble free km (mainly country) so far. Spark plugs are every 120000km, but for most people, would be done by a mechanic as the manifold has to be removed. Transmission service every 160000km from memory, again by a mechanic. A mechanic did mention that the oil level of the V6 engine should be checked regularly, as they can use a bit of oil.
