Dangerous fault
I purchased a manual LS Colorado new in 2017. Full Holden service history since. Used privately with an equal mix of urban and rural driving. Never been driven off-road. Light towing duties. Now has 85000 km with no mechanical problems until now... Noticed a month ago a warning message "Change Oil Soon" and "Remaining Oil Life 6%", this was despite the previous service being only 9000 km previously. Holden said it was just a courtesy message and not to worry. Last weekend, I was midway through a 600 km trip, travelling with cruise control set ...Read more
on 105 (110 area) and accelerated (gently) to pass a road train. The vehicle commenced to gather speed by itself. I disengaged cruise and pressed on and off the accelerator pedal to try and regain control as speed increased (still by itself) to 145 km/hr. This had no effect. As I had a truck behind me, I couldn't suddenly brake so I placed transmission into neutral and coasted to the side of the road. Engine was running in redline with no accelerator input. I switched motor off, restarted it and the problem appeared to have gone. Had the vehicle checked by a regional mechanic. No fault codes had been thrown and he was unable to replicate problem. Contacted Holden customer care who arranged for the car to be assessed at local Holden dealership. They believe that there may be an issue with the DPF which somehow causes additional fuel to be input via the injectors (??). They said that the oil level was slightly high (they serviced it previously) and asked if the DPF warning message had been displayed recently. I told them I was aware of the DPF warning but hadn't seen it for months. When it gets displayed, I religiously drive the vehicle over a distance to clear the warning. They still have the car after three days, unwilling to release it as the issue is potentially dangerous. Luckily the vehicle is still covered by factory warranty. I will be most interested to find out what has been done to alleviate this dangerous fault. Otherwise I have been generally happy with the car. Good fuel economy, power and towing capacity. I find seats are rather unsupportive but do acknowledge that the car is a base model.Purchased in August 2021 for A$40,000.00.

Great car, no troubles
The car is used mainly for highway driving with a bit of 4x4 thrown in, it runs really well and has not caused any troubles yet. It is regularly serviced (oil every 7000km) and is now at 105000km. Would recommend.
Purchased in December 2021 for A$30,000.00.

Loved it so much we bought 2!!
We purchased a 2016 LTZ, we found the car so reliable, we owned it 4 years and never had a problem. It towed our large caravan like it wasn’t there.
We have now upgraded to the 2020 LTZ and are loving the additional features and cosmetic improvements.
Purchased in March 2021 at Holden Dealers.

Good Ute, offering great value for an entry level truck
Great value for money, impressed with level of refinement for an entry level Ute. Tows the boat and caravan well (both approx 2.8 ton). 7 years free service great bonus.

So far I'm happy
Recently brought a Z71 colorado and so far I'm a happy camper. My friends have Hilux and Rangers and this thing keeps up with them all day. Found its better on diesel too. Couple things that could be improved are the collision alert is touchy, stall lock up is looser than old ones which I like the low rpm lock up with turbo diesels even If they do vibrate, and I wish it had heated mirrors and adaptive cruze (I'm picky).
Anyways will up date once I've put more kms on it

Such a great ute!
My fiance and I purchased the 2017 colorado Z71 after much deliberation. Having previously owned a 2009 Holden SV6 Thunder ute, we upgraded to the colorado as a future family and work car. We love this ute and it has heaps of great features! But there are some things we noticed that we weren't happy with until afterwards, for example the dual climate control in the Thunder is not in the Z71 (being that I always have the heater on while my partner has the A/C on). The seats in the Z71 are not very comfortable and after a road trip it's actually a bit painful... And the tub of the ute also had a leak, we took it back to the dealer who looked at the seal, but could not find any problem. Other than that we absolutely love this ute!
Purchased in August 2021.

Colin the Colorado
I bought this vehicle in 2009 and must admit to being a little apprehensive. I have owned 4x4s before but never a dual cab.
I so glad I did as this the most reliable vehicle I have ever owned. It never complains, it’s just point and shoot and it works every time. After 257,000 klms it’s still as strong as it was the day I drove it out of the dealership.
Would I recommend this vehicle, without question!! I have been asked a few times why don’t you update and my answer is always, Why!!

2019 Colorado LS
Ive just picked up today a Brand new 2022 Colorado Ls, { company car not my choice } if you want a comfortable work ute / office, keep away. This is by far the most agricultural vehicle I have driven apart from a John deere tractor.
It's uncomfortable, basic, terrible handling and the brakes are borderline dangerous. Even the handbrake goes straight to the roof and it's only travelled 75klm. Our company bought Two and they are both like it.
Save your money.
It's not good when you pick up a new work ute and even the
salesman says you won't like it.

Good Reliable Truck
3 years old and is my daily drive. To work is 64k country/city round trip and is at 58,000k.
It is bumpy on our wonderful roads but is the base model. Good quality sheepskin seat covers helped immensely.
I sit on a 100ks going to work and 80ks on way home (to many roos at night).
Fuel is between 8.4 and 8.7 L/100k.
Has plenty of power and is easy overtaking and not hard to hit 120k+ when doing so.
Very easy to spin the front wheels in the wet from take off so use the 4x4 around town and it works very well.
Only problem was the fuel filler door actuator failed and replaced by Wagga Motors under warrenty and is serviced by them at the recommended intervals.

Spot on
Have had other models of Holdens previously that we had major issues with, so we were reluctant to buy another Holden. But can happily say that our 2017 Z71 is spot on. We test drove the top of the range Tritan and they really don’t even compare to each other. They drive on road like a dream, off road great, tow like there is nothing on the back. we haven’t had a single issue yet. Though, a slight near the back wheels that we will get checked. Only thing I could suggest, is a better sound system. Coming from a SRI-V Cruise (complete lemon of a car other than the sound system) If the Crusie could have a really good sound system you’d think for the price of the Z71 it could be better. All in all we love it!

Great for towing, loads of power!!
Purchased a 2017 Holden Colorado RG LTZ back in October last year and still smiling when I see what I'm driving home. This vehicle is four door, and is great for my family and also my work place. I often tow a caravan, a boat and a box trailer all of which the Colorado handles with ease and pleasure. The back seat is wide and deep enough to fit three child/baby seats across the back, without compromising leg room in the front of the cabin.
This vehicle has build in Satellite navigation, front and reverse sensors making parking a breeze as well as a top quality reverse camera. This features are on top of a top ancap safety rating, with side, front, back airbags and grade braking for the big down hill slopes.

Never buy a Holden vehicle again
Oil consumption very high; fix = thicker oil ???
Engine vibrates heavily always; fix 1 = replace tyres ???. fix 2 = replace front wheel bearings ???. fix 3 = that's the way they were built, tough !!!!. Go away and live with it as we (GMH) are not going to do anything about it !!!
Interestingly GMH have replaced a large number of engines under wty.

Perfect Ute for all adventures
Great for the bush and the beach and everything in between. Plenty of room for kids of all sizes (or just men!) great air flow and engine capacity. Sand does catch within the wheel frame which throws off the alignment whilst on the beach - but don’t be alarmed it’s just the car loving the beach as much as you!

Better cars out there
I've had my Colorado for 18 months now. Never been off road. I just needed a replacement car with a big boot and they don't make them any more. So I bought a ute. Firstly do not buy one of these, thinking it comes with gps, or you can call or text by voice. I have an android and use android auto. The best day of my life was when I bought a stand alone GPS, installed it and deleted android auto. It simply doesn't work. Buy a car that has a proper GPS installed. Don't get sucked in to Android Auto or apple cat play. You will regret it. It Has...Read more
a severe rattle in the exhaust they can't (won't) fix. Ride is like a truck, which I don't mind. It's a bit agricultural and basic. If you ever need help from Holden 'customer care', good luck. I think the only person who works there is the cleaner. They don't return calls. You're on your own. Overall, it's not a bad car. I like driving it, but it's the little things that Holden could have gotten right that spoil the experience. And remember, don't fall for the android and apple crap!Similar opinion? Don' buy
My Colorado has never been on a dirt road, 4 wheel drive used once to for 5 metres it now has a rattle in the passenger side door a vibration and rattle across the dash when going over bumps which on Aussie roads is a lot. It does not have the technology as other vehicles the same era, no sat nav. It has 40,000 on the clock. I can't wait to trade it in after seeing these reviews, next time a Toyota. Low beam is like driving with candles in front, especially on country roads when the car in front goes out of sight + lots of other annoying deficits

Paint coming off!! Beware!
My 2014 Colorado has about 13,000 kms on it. It has spent its life either garaged or in a covered spot. It has been washed and polished regularly, and had never been off-road, near salt water, or in the presence of anything corrosive. The vehicle is immaculate inside and out, and driven only occasionally. Recently, I noticed to my horror, that the paint on the roof (and only the roof) is disintegrating. I took it to my Holden dealer in Perth, and they told me that there is nothing that can be done as the vehicle is one year out of warrant...Read more
y. I contacted Holden Customer Care and got the same abrupt response. I took it to a paint and panel shop to get a quote on repainting it. The owner was astounded that Holden would not stand behind its product. I have owned nine Holden products, including three Colorados. I also have a new SV6 'Black' edition in my driveway. This will be the last Holden product I ever buy. No wonder Holden is losing customers. They just don't seem to care about their regulars, and won't stand behind their products. Love my colly
We purchased our Colorado as a tow vehicle and to be able to get away camping. The car is comfortable and is pleasant to drive. Tows our caravan extremely well both on the bitumen and the gravel. Like the hill start assist as well as the graded braking. The audio system it very good and easy to navigate the controls. Fuel usage is good at around 8-9 L/ 100KM unladen to around 14L / 100KM toing the van and the tray loaded.

Oil consumption
This is an update on my ongoing problem just had another service and they still want to do another test after 49000ks.This is what I have discovered, now according to their manual the engine has a 5.7litre oil capacity, myfirst time I topped up my oil I put approximatly 1.7ltrs before 22000ks so they changed the dipstick and put a 40 grade oil now the reason why they changed the dipstick is because they put 7ltrs of oil instead of 5.7 to make sure that you don't run out of oil and when you go back for the consumption check it will always be inspe...Read more
ck because they overfill by 250approx so on your first check it will be on the correct level the second check will be only250ml the 3rd approximatly 750ml which brings you to one ltr over 9000ks now they will put 1ltr in which will raise the viscosity up slightly and by the time you get to the 15000ksit will take about 500ml which they say is within specifications now if you were to just to drive the car for the full 15000ks without topping up I guarantee you will be using nearly a litre or more extra there are people who have had their engine visibility changed because they are driving with a loaded car which puts extra load on the engine so now I have come to the conclusion that whatever I or anyone does is in vain because of their deception you have no chance of warranty to prove my point go and check out the new LDV it has the same engine with dipstick in a different position and the engine has a 7ltr oil capacity.I will never buy or deal with Holden again.Similar opinion?
