Loved it so much we bought 2!!
We purchased a 2016 LTZ, we found the car so reliable, we owned it 4 years and never had a problem. It towed our large caravan like it wasn’t there.
We have now upgraded to the 2020 LTZ and are loving the additional features and cosmetic improvements.
Purchased in March 2021 at Holden Dealers.

Colin the Colorado
I bought this vehicle in 2009 and must admit to being a little apprehensive. I have owned 4x4s before but never a dual cab.
I so glad I did as this the most reliable vehicle I have ever owned. It never complains, it’s just point and shoot and it works every time. After 257,000 klms it’s still as strong as it was the day I drove it out of the dealership.
Would I recommend this vehicle, without question!! I have been asked a few times why don’t you update and my answer is always, Why!!
Purchased in December 2021 for A$47,000.00.

Great for towing, loads of power!!
Purchased a 2017 Holden Colorado RG LTZ back in October last year and still smiling when I see what I'm driving home. This vehicle is four door, and is great for my family and also my work place. I often tow a caravan, a boat and a box trailer all of which the Colorado handles with ease and pleasure. The back seat is wide and deep enough to fit three child/baby seats across the back, without compromising leg room in the front of the cabin.
This vehicle has build in Satellite navigation, front and reverse sensors making parking a breeze as well as a top quality reverse camera. This features are on top of a top ancap safety rating, with side, front, back airbags and grade braking for the big down hill slopes.

Never buy a Holden vehicle again
Oil consumption very high; fix = thicker oil ???
Engine vibrates heavily always; fix 1 = replace tyres ???. fix 2 = replace front wheel bearings ???. fix 3 = that's the way they were built, tough !!!!. Go away and live with it as we (GMH) are not going to do anything about it !!!
Interestingly GMH have replaced a large number of engines under wty.

Don' buy
My Colorado has never been on a dirt road, 4 wheel drive used once to for 5 metres it now has a rattle in the passenger side door a vibration and rattle across the dash when going over bumps which on Aussie roads is a lot. It does not have the technology as other vehicles the same era, no sat nav. It has 40,000 on the clock. I can't wait to trade it in after seeing these reviews, next time a Toyota. Low beam is like driving with candles in front, especially on country roads when the car in front goes out of sight + lots of other annoying deficits

Paint coming off!! Beware!
My 2014 Colorado has about 13,000 kms on it. It has spent its life either garaged or in a covered spot. It has been washed and polished regularly, and had never been off-road, near salt water, or in the presence of anything corrosive. The vehicle is immaculate inside and out, and driven only occasionally. Recently, I noticed to my horror, that the paint on the roof (and only the roof) is disintegrating. I took it to my Holden dealer in Perth, and they told me that there is nothing that can be done as the vehicle is one year out of warrant...Read more
y. I contacted Holden Customer Care and got the same abrupt response. I took it to a paint and panel shop to get a quote on repainting it. The owner was astounded that Holden would not stand behind its product. I have owned nine Holden products, including three Colorados. I also have a new SV6 'Black' edition in my driveway. This will be the last Holden product I ever buy. No wonder Holden is losing customers. They just don't seem to care about their regulars, and won't stand behind their products. Love my colly
We purchased our Colorado as a tow vehicle and to be able to get away camping. The car is comfortable and is pleasant to drive. Tows our caravan extremely well both on the bitumen and the gravel. Like the hill start assist as well as the graded braking. The audio system it very good and easy to navigate the controls. Fuel usage is good at around 8-9 L/ 100KM unladen to around 14L / 100KM toing the van and the tray loaded.

Oil consumption
This is an update on my ongoing problem just had another service and they still want to do another test after 49000ks.This is what I have discovered, now according to their manual the engine has a 5.7litre oil capacity, myfirst time I topped up my oil I put approximatly 1.7ltrs before 22000ks so they changed the dipstick and put a 40 grade oil now the reason why they changed the dipstick is because they put 7ltrs of oil instead of 5.7 to make sure that you don't run out of oil and when you go back for the consumption check it will always be inspe...Read more
ck because they overfill by 250approx so on your first check it will be on the correct level the second check will be only250ml the 3rd approximatly 750ml which brings you to one ltr over 9000ks now they will put 1ltr in which will raise the viscosity up slightly and by the time you get to the 15000ksit will take about 500ml which they say is within specifications now if you were to just to drive the car for the full 15000ks without topping up I guarantee you will be using nearly a litre or more extra there are people who have had their engine visibility changed because they are driving with a loaded car which puts extra load on the engine so now I have come to the conclusion that whatever I or anyone does is in vain because of their deception you have no chance of warranty to prove my point go and check out the new LDV it has the same engine with dipstick in a different position and the engine has a 7ltr oil capacity.I will never buy or deal with Holden again.Similar opinion? A great reliable vehicle and excellent ergonomics
My 2014 LTZ Crew Cab has been excellent. Mountains of power and sounds great. I haven't needed to upgrade the sound system yet but may in the next year. Averaging 8.5 litres per hundred usually spend $90 to fill (never below a 1/4 of a tank). Overall very impressed with the Colorado.

Comes in handy
I have never owned a ute before. I have used it to go form Brisbane to Perth and many long trouble free journeys. Had the Holden road side assistance to which came in hand for a flat battery and three. Great up the beach and so comfortable. Go out and buy one and enjoy life a little more.

Transmission
I am still writing about this car as the auto transmission is still not what it should be and the dealership is not doing anything except getting me to ring Holden, which I have done.
That also was a waste of time as they say that there is nothing wrong.
No offence meant here but I was talking with a woman who clearly does not understand.
I am still very unhappy with Holden and the dealership.
Take my warning if you plan to buy an auto trans' Colorado.
Happy to take calls regarding this on 0429498137. Laurie

o Transmission Here is another update on this Colorado. I have been in touch with Holden again complaining about the auto trans which appears to be slipping. Now I wait till I take it in for its 45k service and get them to check it out again. This has been a long drawn out saga with this trans so at this stage I would suggest that you be warned about buying one. More updates will follow.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Oil Consumption Issue.....
Oil consumption question/comment....
I see there are multiple people concerned about oil consumption of their 2014 to 2015 Holden Colorados. I have a July 2014 RG II. I asked the question over a year ago as to the amount of oil required to top up based on how far the dipstick reading is below the full mark. (Not in owners manual) Hatched area pretty much seems to be one litre based on my top ups. I have vigilantly recorded distance and top up requirements to over 80 000kms now. It is hard to say what consumption was like for the first 45 0...Read more

Update 2: Now 10000 km post last service and has required 350mls to return to full mark. This makes a total of 630mls consumed to date. Towing for this 10000km has been less than last service interv... Read more
al and I suspect these vehicles burn more when they run hotter under more demanding use which fits with a lower viscosity oil. On schedule to use about 900 mls to 1 litre for the 15 000km interval. So only minor improvement expected. Oil remains extremely clean looking. Still worth doing as you know you are using a top quality oil and cheaper to buy from dealer spare parts and then use dealer to service as they charge more per litre at the service department. It appears these engines are oil users.... Plenty of manufactures seem to have engines out there that do this.... many BMW models seem to allow 1 qrt (947mls) per 800 miles (1285 km) so don't know if this is a design flaw or engine characteristic for purposes of economy and keeping oil clean.Update 3: Now at 14500km post service. Needed another 300 mls of oil by 12000km post service (Subtotal 930mls) to return to full on dipstick. Down the equivalent of about 550 mls on dipstick currentl... Read more
y so definitely heading for approximately 1500 to 1550 mls usage for the 15000km service interval. Once again, the oil still looks very clean and power and economy are excellent. The loose conclusions I am going to draw from my observations to date (not just from this single 15000km leg) are: 1. Using the AC Delco 5w-30 has made no differenceSimilar opinion? Damn good ute and tow vehicle
Bought this after testing most of the opposition, overall package and price was what we wanted, it also came with a lot of already fitted extras, and specifically wanted it for towing our camper. First trip with 500km on the clock, we did 2300km to Mt Moffat and Carnavon Gorge, handled the trip brilliantly, comfortable for all 4 of us, and towed beautifully. Averaged 12.5 l/100km, but included some pretty knarly 4wd tracks, and deep sandy sections towing, so was pretty impressed.

Not as good as last one
I had a 2014 LTZ and I was very happy with it and after 80000 km I up dated ... I feel I made a mistake .. I find the motor noise and a vibration in the steering wheel and through the seats .. they tell me it's the computer needs adjustment .. I think the new motor and Gear box not as good as the 2014 model. I'm sorry I bought it I should have looked at other brands.

Mediocrity rules
Agree on fault. 2015 LTZ used 2 litres in 3500 km. Dealer fix, replace 5W/30 oil with 5W/40!!!
Still on dealer suggested 3,000 Km test for comparison. Poor design rectified by dodgy method.
Also at 50,000 Km today battery boiled and expanded. Wty in 4WD is 12 month, while same battery in sedans is 30 Month??? (AC Delco original).
Would I buy again, Not likely.
