my 230f seized up and im rebuilding it at the moment but im wondering do i have to buy a whole new top end or is it just a barrel i can replace?
1 answer
I'd say save the barrel by boring (and rechroming if necessary) and get next size up piston. Local shops will help you with that. Never toss out good parts

is there any difference between a 2016 and 2017 crf 230f? I'm looking at buying a procircuit t-4 exhaust system and it says it suits up to a 2016 but I wanted to check if there is much difference and whether it would still suit a 2017 or not

Is it possible to get a crf230f registered, if so how much would it cost?
2 answers
If you want to get it road regested its probability easer to get a 230x but if you are looking to get it rec reged like mine all you need at least for Victoria is a working brake light and a head light which should only cost a few hundred dollars from eBay.

None of those your looking at a few hundred bucks!

How to know the crf 230 produce in 2017 can I recognize from the body number or can do with other way?
1 answer
Hi, the bike should have a bike sticker on the downtube saying 2017 Model in big letters. They look different: the front fender shape and how it morphs into the numberplate and the side panels have a new groove in them. Go to Honda powersports.com and you can see lots of pictures of it.

Would this motor cycle suit a mature aged bloke? I only want to go a sedate pace. I weigh 90 kilograms.
1 answer
Yes sir, the electric start makes things easier. The bike is very capable offroad and can be made street legal. The other Honda, the CRF250L- a nice looking bike but is weighs a whopping 325 lb. A stock 230F weighs 238lb. full of gas and ready to go. It can be made a lot lighter too.

Hi Andrew. I am a 52 year old, 90 kg, who owns and rides road bikes but now want to get a trail bike to ride with my 11 year old. I will be getting him a CRF 125. Do you think a CRF 230 would be okay for a mature, slightly heavy rider?
1 answer
Im 57 and currently overweight at around 204 lbs and I love mine. Remember to get a 230F, the other "L" model has very little suspension. Do you have the "230f easy enduro" down under? We don't get those.

What is the top speed for a 2006 crf230f does it go faster then a 2006 kx85?
2 answers
My crf 230 tops out about 100km or 62 miles it's pretty good idk about haw fast a kx85 is thow.
If you go 14/50 instead of 13/50, on your gearing this will make a difference, and wont hurt climbing ability. That should put you around 70mph. Keep in mind that you can maintain that speed and the 2-stroke KX will blow up if he tries to hang with you for very long. Hey, I sold my CR250 because of that very thing, and I ride a 230F. If a cr250 cant keep up then that kx85 is a leaf blower.

I am going to get a new bike but I can't figure out which one is better a ttr 230 or crf 230, which one do you think is better?
3 answers
I was in this exact same boat! I was trying to decide between the 2, I rode a brand new ttr230 and a brand new crf230f straight off the show room floor. The ttr230 was a nice bike, very smooth gears and rode nice. Then I rode the crf230f, I found the crf230f was just as nice to ride and had slightly more power as well but not a big difference. But after doing so much research I on the crf230f I found 2 words that kept coming up in reviews people would write which was that crf230fs were "bullet proof". I've still got my crf230f and I absolutely love it!! In my opinion, go the crf230f all the way! :)
I was an aerospace technician and the parts and castings on the Honda were better than aircraft parts and Yamaha stuff is junk on the smaller, less expensive models. However the high end Yammies are really good. To answer your question, get the Honda 230F get the F and put a light kit on it. The 230L is a clunker, so don't get that one.
Get the Honda, there's no comparison. My friend's wife has a Yamaha and it has this stupid shift linkage like a road race bike with rear sets. It falls apart at times. I was an aerospace tech and the quality of the castings and machine work on a Honda are better than some on aircraft. Honda engineers are some of the best in the world. I'm even taking on bigger Yamahas than the one you mentioned. They're nice bikes but the little Honda always prevails. Just ask Honda owners.

Hello, I really want to try out for racing on my 2005 crf230f Honda. But it's not a kickstart and my friend said its against the rules to race with Electric... Is this true? Because if so I may need to sell/swap my bike. Cheers. :/
2 answers
I have no idea about racing, but at a guess i dare say your friend would be right. It wouldn't be real fair if you was to have an electric start against people that have to kick start, you push a button and away you go so it sounds like your friend would be right. And the crf230f is a trail bike not a proper racing dirt bike. You might want to consider alternative bikes if you want to start racing. Also perhaps get in touch with your local bike racing officials and ask them all the questions you have, they will be able to point you in the right direction and be better able to help you, hope this helps.
Electric start is legal, Ryan Dungee's 450 KTM has one! That's a championship winning factory bike in AMA Supercross.

Should i trade my 2010 kx85 for a crf230 im 15 and looking to get a kx250f but i found this trade?
1 answer
Well depends what you're after really. If you're wanting more power then perhaps the kx250f would be the better option? But in my opinion I'd go with the crf230f, I've still got mine and I absolutely love it! Maybe see if you can get a test ride on each bike you're looking at? Hope this will help a little at least.

I am 15 and 5'6, will this bike be to big,to small,or just right?
2 answers
There are lowering kits - Soupy makes one that adjusts from stock height to any height down to 4 inches! (got mine on Amazon).
You can drop the front forks 1". I'm 5'8" and I have mine dropped 3/4". No need for the lowering kit, this works well everyplace but sand.

I am nearly 14 and about 5'9 and I am looking for my first bike and everyone is telling me to look at Hondas. What do you think?
1 answer
In my opinion it's an ideal first bike to learn on. And you are plenty tall enough, I'm only about 5'6 and feel comfortable on it. I've still got my crf230 which I done my original review on, and I love it! It's been an awesome bike. Just remember they don't have as much power as say a Honda crf250r or something like that, because the crf230f is a trail bike, not a full blown dirt bike. But in saying that I find mines still got plenty of power to have fun :) But being a trail bike they are pretty much a tuned down dirt bike essentially, and that being the case they are heaps more reliable and can take way more punishment. Hope this helps to answer your question :)

I'm 14 and about 60 kg would this be the right bike for me, I ride out in the forest and just wondering if it would be to heavy or big? Thanks in advance
3 answers
It depends how strong you are and how tall you are they are a pretty heavy bike just ride one and see what you think before buying it
The bike may be a bit on the heavy side. On the other hand it is very easy to menuver in tighter trails once you get the feel of it. There are ways of lightening it up too.
In my opinion, you would be well suited to the crf230. They aren't the lightest bike going around but I don't really notice the weight with mine. I've dropped mine etc many times and pick it up easily. They are ideal for forest riding, they are a trail bike and they are very reliable!

curious if anyone has had engine problems I've got a grinding. sound from bottom of motor??? any ideas

I hade the same noise and it turned out to be that the chain and sprokets were bad. Try tightening the chain more then usual then see if the noise goes away. Hope this helped.
Get your bike into a Honda service centre. You don't want to ignore what could be a major issue with a motorbike.
