No customer support, period.
I applied for life/income insurance and did the right thing by being open and transparent, what an error of judgement that was, 2 weeks later I was informed that my application was denied without any further investigation or review. When I asked the company about it, they said sorry maybe you should go elsewhere, great support guys.

a refreshingly great example of customer care!
I’d like to share a small amount of gratitude.
This week, on a 30 minute phone call (that definitely went past closing time) I was taught more about superannuation than I have in 35 years.
The hostplus consultant not only answered my questions clearly and with explanation; she led me through a web portal and presented what future and self serve options were available to me.
The whole process was super simple, clear and helpful, moreso I truely felt cared for (which is a refreshing change to the usual call-centre experience.)
As the call wrapped and I passed on my thanks, I learned that the consultant (Courtney) had only been employed for a month!!

Don't bother, not there when you need them.
At the time of this review I have income protection with Hostplus, I will be going in for surgery on a torn miniscus at a predetermined date with the knowledge of a set amount of time off work which is 8 weeks. I tried to put an application in early with the full knowledge of the 30 waiting period before "payment". Nope, you cannot do this. In fact you must wait the full 30 days before submitting your request at which time they will take " from 2 months" to process the claim. What a joke. The reason I have income protection is to pay the bills...Read more
I cannot pay whilst off work. I'm sorry but waiting an additional 2 months is disgusting. In reality they do not want you to claim, and will delay the process to avoid it. I will be cancelling my policy and most likely moving to another Super fund. After almost 20 years I am so disappointed.1 comment

Poor Customer service
Cannot log into my member account is anyone else having this issue.
The fund is good, however watch out on the administration side hopeless.
They canceled my original fund I had for over 20 years without my authority. Watch your insurances premiums as they overcharged me a few times.
If you get [name removed], ask for someone else, he has no idea and his phone doesn't work you cant hear him at all. All these issues have been ongoing for the last 2 years.
Very poor service.

Trying to get My Money all I want is the 7800.00 to pay my bills and have some standard of living
Customer Service is like talking to a Robot just repeating the same phrases over and over. No empathy what so ever at time downright Rude and Smart aleck eg well you should have sent in the right paperwork um heads up Princess I did.
After being told I can only have 1/5 of what I applied for what I wanted was not all that was in my acct. So why can't I have my own money. More training would be good for them that's for sure. Bad customer service
Rude, lazy and impatient lady answered on Thursday the 4th around 5pm, after numerous times explaining what I wanted done, she hang up. When I called again, there's no freakin' record of my call therefore, starting all over again!!!
We entrust you with our hard-earned monies I was just asking "a" question, some here in dire need to access their funds and this is what we get, a lousy service.
I suggest do filter your staff because there are some who are not really worth their wage.

Hopeless customer service
I sent an early release form in about 3weeks ago as I am under severe Financial hardship at present due to circumstances out of my control.
Met the criteria of 26weeks on a DSP and even emailed host plus some weeks ago for help (no response) as I suffer severe depression and Anxiety and was having Issues getting the paperwork started.
I finally jumped through all there hoops and after running around getting quotes and paperwork Certified I sent it to them.
Letter in the mail yesterday from them stating I had been Declined....
Rang and after waiting 20mins in hold get told I had sent in OLD paperwork (new form released end of July) and I would have to Re apply....

Don't follow through !
Lost my husband suddenly in August . All paperwork for Super payment was in within 2/3 weeks. Now Middle of December still waiting for payments and facing financial hardship.Shame on you for your non caring and your very poor service .

Website and access constant issue for many years. The site has always been clunky and changes frequently. Cannot access account from my iPhone.

Terrible service
When i request for additional Insurance cover, been refered to Met life for various time taking blood and other medical test, in nut shell my application never get approved. Seriously looking to join other fund where i will get at least 6 units of Insurance as default, so don't need to go Met Life.

Long time happiness
I've had Hostplus since 1997. It has always performed well. Back then I was offered very cheap insurance for free which doubled my benefit for the same fee. Still have it and it pays out 4 times that of my current super if I die or are permanently disabled. Peace of mind for my children. And I have to say the returns speak for themselves.

Very bad service if you want to apply for their advertised insurance cover
I moved to Hostplus because of the attractive insurance offer. I submitted an application for extra cover which then had to be referred to Metlife for underwriting. They asked me to do a blood test with their third party and a full medical exam at my GP, which I both had completed within 1 week. Did not hear back from them for about nearly a month. I followed up with Metlife and attached a copy of my medical exam again. Haven't heard back for 3 months now. Terrible time trying to arrange insurance cover
I was excited to join as I’d heard about the great returns. I arranged to transfer my insurance cover from my old fund and met with a glitch. The online insurance forms crashed with errors twice then I got a message saying my transfer couldn’t be done. I spoke with Member Services who advised I needed to do a brand new application. need to submit another one. I sent them some screenshots showing I did have an application in progress and nearly a week later I was informed my application had been denied. I was upset as I’d not been informed sooner and had now been without insurance cover for some time. To add insult to injury I was advised I was ineligible for all forms of cover (including Death and Total Permanent Disability) because I’d once ‘contemplated’ making a Workers Compensation Claim, but had not actually gone ahead with it. Amazing Returns!
If I would have read the reviews of HostPlus before I joined I would never have signed up. Thank goodness I didn’t! My husband wasn’t with an industry fund and his super was going nowhere. Since transitioning his funds, we are never short of amazed at the returns. I did however find the HostPlus app nigh on useless but easy enough to go online to check balances.

Switched for a better return and lower fees
I have only been with Hostplus for one month after switching from Colonial First state and have been very happy with the performance during my short membership. I've made several phone calls to Hostplus and after a short wait and recorded message my call was answered and handled in a professional manner. The person I spoke to on each occasion was able to answer my questions. I don't know why there are so many bad reviews of Hostplus on this site, perhaps it is usually only the unhappy people that go to the trouble to write a review.

Despicable superfund
Delayed for months the approval of superannuation paperwork to set up my own SMSF. Unprofessional and antagonistic attitude during the entire process. Please think twice before setting up an account with Hostplus.

Frustrating
This is the most frustrating company i have ever dealt with, I asked for money (mine) to be put in bank account. On 12/9/ I spoke to someone who spoke to supervisor that all ok, on 14/09 they posted cheque and a week later I'm still waiting, have no car, and no money to pick up new one that`s partially paid for in showroom. They say yes yes to everything on phone but its worse than pulling teeth.
