We recently bought a house with a Hurlcon pool heater .We discovered that it did not work so we paid Astral to come and fix it, it still does not work tried contacting them but no reply
Do not deal with this company, find another to deal with. They are happy to take your money .All I wanted was to be able to heat my pool, not to much to ask for !

I have 2 BX1.5 series pumps running for 10+ years now and one only died last year which I replaced with a new Hurlcon of the same type and so far its been operating well. The other pump bearings only recently failed which is to be expected after the years of running and extreme conditions its in and Im considering getting another Hurlcon since Ive no bad experiences like others who have made comments below.

After 2 months of service my new Hurlcon pump burnt out and stopped working. I tried to get it fixed under warranty but the technician from Austral Pools would not turn up for the appointments. I formed the opinion that Hurlcon were only after the sale and do not stand behind its product. In the end I went out and bought a Davey pump.

I bought this pump as the pool company and also an independent plumber told me that traditionally this a good quality make, with good customer service. My three and half year old pump stopped running and was tripping the electrics. I called a local pump repair service, who found that water was going into the motor which had shorted.....unreapairable. They phoned hurlcon to complain that a pump so young should break. Hurlcon told them .....you get what you pay for....I don't call $700 + cheap! I regularly test my water and ran the pump as recommended
It did the job while it was working
It broke after 3 1/2 years
