You might be able to purchase the car by driving around to see if anyone has one for sale or you could try looking in a car magazine or internet online sights such as the trading post or gumtree Australia

As they have a quite powerful 2.0ltr 105kw engine, they do suck a little more fuel than you would think. If your doing a bit more city driving than cruising you should expect around 10ltr per 100kms. If your on the highway and getting poor economy then get the timing belt checked as they're surprisingly good for cruising due to they're overall lightweight (lighter than an 14 corolla hatch). Good value car mate

mine is getting better after full service, got only 8.7 driving both on highway n around city. before around 10 ltr/100.

I'd be taking it to a dealer for further assessment. Items like steering you don't want to be messing around with unless you're 100% sure what you're doing.

I own a Hyundai Elantra 1.6 Executive AT 2008 Model. The steering is making a lot of scary noise as if its about to pull off. I hear it is factory fault. Can you confirm that pls?

I'm unaware of a factory fault. If it happens as the steering wheel is turned side to side at low speed, but less obvious at high speed, it could be your EPS motor. Older power steering systems used a hydraulic pump but newer ones use an electric motor that can burn out prematurely if used excessively at low speeds and during "dry" steering (turning the wheel rapidly when the car isn't moving - this also wears your tyres out quickly). If it fails completely the wheel will be hard to turn and a big red "EPS" light will appear on your instrument cluster.

My wife had the same problem, along with refusing to fire (although cranking well). One was a coil antenna issue (fixed under warranty) the other an immobiliser issue. Hyundai dealership is the best bet for help as almost all smaller mechanics don't have the right diagnostics to pin it down.

That sounds dangerous as the brakes rely on the engine for pressure / it is probably better to tow the car to hyandai workshop or a trustworthy honest and reliable mechanical shop or you could try a auto electrician if them 2 options fail

I would like to add that my suggestion is that you don't drive the car until you get the problems fixed as the brakes rely on the engine for pressure to work properly

if the immobiliser if deffinitely faulty, you can replace it with an aftermarket unit for about $130 plus about $350 for installation.

Take it to hyandai Australia workshop as they are usually better at specialised cars / otherwise you could try a trustworthy honest and reliable auto electrician

I would also like to add / my suggestion is not to drive the car until you have the problems fixed as the brakes rely on the engine for pressure to make the braking system work properly
