Don't think I can help you on this question.
I always just take my motor vehicles to a mechanic if I have any problem.
Never had any with my Sante Fe.

My Santa Fe 2010 diesel manual vehicle suddenly developed problems in the 4 weeks of being driven by my adult son. Vehicle was driving smoothly beforehand.
Assessment by a Hyundai mechanic friend is that there is a clutch and CV shaft failure. His quote to for parts and labour is $3000. Apparently it would cost me approx $5500 to have clutch and CV shaft replacement/repair done at Hyundai service center.
Are these prices about average or are they excessive? No warranty BTW.

Have a 2009/2010 diesel Santa Fe. Every so often the turbo light will come on and the car will slow down, but then after a minute or two it'll go away and the car will go back to normal. Is this safe to drive until I can get it looked at?

Hi I have a 2007 diesel Santa fe. It loses power up hills to the point where it will go down to 3rd gear and travel at about 60km/h. Its had a new engine installed but still produces the problem. I've spent thousands trying to find the solution but have failed to do so. Does anyone else have this problem or does anyone know how to fix it. Also the engine light will stay on but sometimes it will flash.

Hello this will be caused by a blocked PDF. As the DPF is block it will cause so much back pressure in the exhaust it will almost stall or stall. The simple question is to replace it. If you need helping finding one please let me know.

Check Turbo house or Turbo switch. Or turbo itself might be causing the problem.
I have same model, it had engine light on and i lost power when going up hill.
It had replace the turbo switch

I have a 2007 diesel santa fe, owned from new and has been great. But, lately the turbo lag seems to be gettingbpretty bad. Is this a known problem or is there a known fix? Thanks

Could be a cracked pipe to the turbo, this happened to mine original part is costs 1k au unless you can get hold of a 2nd hand one

Check for a split in the pipes from the turbo to the engine or intercooler. Also check for loose clamps.

Hi everybody. I am thinking of taking our 2012 Deisel Santa Fe over to Moreton Island Qld. This is an all sand island. Has anyone tried the Santa Fe on sand and can it handle soft sand ? We are travelling with two Land Cruisers so if we get stuck then we have an escape plan. Would to love here from anyone that has done this whether feedback is good or bad. Cheers, Graham.

Graham, I have had an earlier model Santa Fe 2.2 Deisel Auto on the sand to Double Island Point. It went very well cosidering I did not even let tyre pressures down. You need to turn off traction control and lock it in 4wd. It seems that it has so much power that it plows through anything, even the soft sand. I only had one problem. I found that after an extended period in soft sand that the 4wd lock light started flashing and shortly after the 4wd went back to 2wd and bogged me. I found that by turning the ignition off and restarting reset the system enabling me to reset 4wd lock and I just drove out. I could find nothing in the manual on this but I believe that the Viscous Coupling may have been getting hot and the system shut the 4wd lock off to protect it. I suggest if this happens to drive to some hard sand and shut down to give it a rest to cool down. Enjoy you beach trip. Grant

Thanks Grant and I appreciate your input although have only just read it. We are going this Sunday so will see how we go. Seems to me from all my research that if we deflate to 15 psi, turn off the traction control and lock the doffs then we shouldn't have too mAny dramas and your answer also helps if it kicks it out back into 2wd ?
Cheers
Graham

I have a Hyundai Santa Fe 2009 limited diesel and had a big problem with sudden loud banging noises which would happen when I turned corners. The bang seem to come from the rear wheel axle. Another big bang which shakes the whole car comes from the front when I park the Car. I took it to the Dealer who told me he couldn't find any fault with diagnostic machine.
Can anyone had similar problem and how it was fixed or any suggestions to what is the cause of this.

Sorry I don't know. May be cv joints, or centre diff to do with incorrect matching tyres. They must be identical all around.

brian
brian

Yeah I basically agree with the other answer @ I dare say there is a problem with the diff somewhere or bearings somewhere and this sounds dangerous so it's probably time to take the vehicle to a different mechanical repairs workshop or change the whole diff altogether or you might even get lucky at the vehicle wreckers shop

brian
brian

Have you had the universal joint looked at
