Excellent chair for the price range
Assembly is easy, instructions are clear. As with all IKEA instructions, follow the instructions exactly as printed and it will be a pleasant journey.
Chair is comfortable and works as advertised. 10 Year warranty, so photocopy your receipt.
Purchased in January 2021 for A$229.00.

Great value for what you get...
I was looking for a new office chair, and after a lot of researching (Googling), I came across several posts on gaming forums and also on Whirlpool. And this chair came out as being the best bang for buck.
I got the Markus in black leather for $349 at Ikea. The chair came second on Lifehacker's "best office chairs" http://lifehacker.com/5941523/five-best-office-chairs/all and it came first on Kotaku's best gaming chair http://kotaku.com/your-5-nominations-for-best-gaming-chair-for-your-desk-1552575582/1558170972

r is very easy to assemble, and being an Ikea product they include easy to follow instructions and the allen key tool you need to put the screws together. The wheels click in, the base screws on, and the backing & arm rests screw in. It will take you less than 15min to put the whole chair together if you've already unwrapped everything. The cushioning is a little firmer than my old $130 eBay office chair, but I actually sort of prefer it that way. The handles for recline and up/down are easy to use. And you can put the chair into just about any recline position you want and lock it there. My only criticism of the chair is the tension adjuster on the tilt function. Even on the "hardest" setting the chair leans back very easily. I would have expected the tension to be a lot harder on the hard setting. I'm still rating this 5 stars though because even though you can get a better chair, you will also pay A LOT more money for it. At this price point this chair is fantastic value, and comes with a 10yr warranty to boot.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Markus hits the mark.
Easy to assemble. Sturdy, robust and foam seat that does not bottom out. Tilt adjustment - up/down and rake is good. Castors that lock when not in use. Comfortable for hours.
At $249 it is IMO good value.

I like a chair with the back up straight. Referring to the review above "My only criticism of the chair is the tension adjuster on the tilt function. Even on the "hardest" setting the chair leans back very easily. I would have expected the tension to be a lot harder on the hard setting." This sounds like its a problem with this chair. Can anyone confirm ?

ON mine, I don't seem to have that problem. I have mine set rock hard, not moving at all
same as Trev. No movement at all.

What is the maximum weight a person can be to use the MARKUS?

Best to refer to Ikea HQ but I am closer to 90 Kg than 85 and not a problem. The gas lift and chair construction is quite robust.
