I've tried connecting to all these devices: Nexus 5, Nexus 5X, Samsung galaxy 5X, Samsung galaxy mini, HTC tablet, and Nexus tablet. But, the projector still says "please connect". Is the smart beam black really not compatible with the mentioned devices? Or is there something wrong with the beam or cord? Please help!!!!!
It's funny, the support team will answer any question that compliments the product but has yet to address the "please connect" problem that plagues this device.. go figure

The projector has to be running before you connect to your device. I have to say I love the little cube. Still marvelling.

For an iPhone for example, I bought the Lightning digital AV adaptor, which has an iPhone connection on one end and two ports - one hdmi and one lightning, on the other ($50 at Best Buy which is a US chain). The other cord basically acts as a charger otherwise so that is why it just says "waiting."
Purchased a Smart Beam and I have the proper cables and Apple adapter for iPhone 5 but still get a message to connect beam. Tried resetting the unit but still does not work. Any idea what I'm doing wrong?

No I purchased a mini HDMI to HDMI cable to use with the Apple Connector. The manufacturer suggests a replacement unit.
