Revival on poor deck

published

Used this Riviva for a customers deck clean. Some areas cleaned up really easy others required a long hard blast to remove/clean. Will be doing a second clean to ensure best result....possibly don’t need it but rather do a second clean and be happy with final result than not do a second clean and be sort of happy. Will be interesting to see how this cleans on the newer deck I have to do.

Purchased in July 2021 at Bunnings Warehouse.

Hurrah! What an effective product!

published

After coating a new deck in a disastrous product a year ago and watching it flake and turn orange and grey, I used Reviva as the final step after stripping, sanding and washing the deck.
My goodness, the wood looks wonderful and I’ll be giving it a day or two in the hot weather to dry out properly and then using an Intergrain oil.
Easy to use, worked a colour change while I watched! I wasn’t expecting it to be this good. Phew!

Cleaned deck as prescribed

published

I chose to apply this to the deck, all 200m2 of it, in 22 degrees, shade, as recommended.
I left it on for 15mins, did not allow it to dry, and washed it off with the pressure hose (Gerni).
As the deck has dried, the first is gone, and the areas that were less well prepared from the last clean/seal 2 years ago are now stripped back to near new.
The proof will be when I apply 2 coats of Intergrain Ultradeck tomorrow.

Summary: follow the instructions, and it does what you want.

Absolute rubbish

published

4 litres of this stuff was almost $60. It was a complete waste of money.

Applied to the deck (merbau, 12 months old) as per instructions and it made absolutely no difference whatsoever. Only a pressure cleaner would shift the grime on the deck.

You'd be better off buying a bottle of washing up liquid.

Don't waste your money!

Used on a deck exactly as per instructions. Almost no improvement. Second time I halved the water, timber that was in reasonable condition improved a little, anything with slight mold or algae didn't change. A very disappointing result from an expensive product.

A waste of money that does not restore timber visually at least

published

I used the product to the exact directions, there is NO visual difference to the timber - I cleaned half the deck and left half for comparison. On contacting Intergrain I was told that there wont necessarily be a visual difference but it is a deep clean - well a good detergent will provide a deep clean at a fraction of the cost. In my opinion this product is simply a very expensive detergent.
Undiluted it is a nice colour
It didn't do what it is claimed to do - and yes, I applied as directed.

I have applied reviva to a new mixed aus hwd deck laid six weeks ago
I have sprinkled water and in some places sits on top in others sinks in
Do I really have to apply the reviva again ? What if I do and it still sits on top ?

Hi Dave, the water repellence you are experiencing is due to the natural oils and tannin contained in the timber. We recommend using Intergrain UltraPrep Tannin & Oil Remover as the first step of preparing new timber for coating, followed by Intergrain UltraPrep Timber Cleaner (a.k.a. Reviva) this system will ensure the timber is ready to coat. The Intergrain Team

Hi Erin,
thx for your reply, I have now completed the deck, 2 coats, looks fantastic . I had to apply the reviva twice to have it ready.

Hi Harry, yes wetting the deck before applying Reviva is recommended to help prevent the Reviva from drying on the surface during application. The Intergrain Team

Hi Darrell, no it should not deteriorate provided it has been properly closed during its storage. Hope that helps! The Intergrain Team
