Jolly Kidz Smart Square JPP002
Paint flakes off.
I bought 2 of this putting together, but I got big headache of this now! My 10 month baby chew it all the time and plenty of paint flaked off. I really concern about what quality the paint is. My husband said it wouldnt hurt our babe as it must be a water paint as it made for babies, but I still worried about it heaps, I dont know what I can do for this thing! My husband doesnt want to change another beferent one. Can anyone tell me what' the quility of the paint is please if you know about it?

Should have bought plain timber.
I bought the double size one of these to use outdoors as we live on a farm and our house doesn't have a child proof fence. At first I loved it, but with in two weeks the paint was peeling, yes I used it outdoors but every time after I'd used it I'd pull it apart and store it in the shed till next time. I bought the painted one thinking it would save me having to paint it myself, but now I have to completely sand back the whole thing and do it myself anyway, not that the sanding is going to be hard as the paint just falls off, it hasn't bonded to the wood at all.
Can be extended to make a nice large area for kids to play safely, easily pulls apart for storage.
paint peeled off within two weeks

Excellent
Great value and great quality. Love the bright colours. All other brands I saw only offered wood finish. Put it together fine. I've only had good experiences with Jolly Kidz stuff and this was no exception. Recommended!
Value. Quality. Colour. Assembly easy. Jolly Kidz brand.
Instructions could have been better. I spoke with a very friendly lady at Jolly Kidz whoa ssured me new instructions were coming out soon.

Excellent
I read the reviews here and was a little concerned, but the views were very different - some loved it some hated it for different reasons. I put it together wrong, had to do some of them again, I broke 1 piece, got it replaced extremely easily. Very happy with our purchase, and our child loves it which concerned me as well. I got the painted one from a shop on ebay who guaranteed it for $30 cheaper than anywhere else, and had absolutely no problems with that seller.
adaptable, easy to take apart and put together once you have initially assemble...

Good
This was loved by my baby and didn't feel trapped in it, as we spent a lot of time in it together at first. Bright colours helped, only thing is it did move around a fair bit but my bubba learned how to balance well and didn't care, it was a bit of a challenge for him. When he got too old for it it was obvious cause he travelled with it hehe we wedged one side against the couch and it stayed, of course you could always bolt it down as easily but it was funny to see him try to carry it and we didn't care, by then he was old enough and preferred...
Read more the walker anyway, got a lot of use out of it. i recommend it for the price. bright colours interest baby, we set up a mobile on the corner which bubba followed and loved a lot. pretty cheap, easy to assemble the screws seem a bit out when assembled but it didn't really make any difference, as it was stable enough for bubba to hold on to it never came apart. like all plastic stuff for babies it would not be a perfect fit when it comes to assembling (nothing we ever got was, without a tweak here and there).

Good
Probably the most affordable playpen on the market. I bought 2 of these small Jolly Kidz playpens for $69 each in the Natural wooden colour, after reading that the colour-painted ones flake off. Have combined them to make a huge 2x2m (4 square metres!) playpen - would be hard-pressed to find a cheaper playpen of this size for under $140. Joints use both screw and push-buttons, although the push-buttons are not very smooth sometimes which can make it difficult to disassemble. Can seem a little flimsy at some points, but it is strong enough to ke...
Read moreep the toddler. Obviously, not the best in the market but the quality is satisfactory, especially at this price. It gets the job done and the money we saved went towards more toys & nappies for our little one. Solid wood, looks nice. Expandable. Affordable and relatively easy to use. Allan-key provided. Push-buttons joints make it easier to assemble and disassemble the playpen. Comes with spare joiners for expansion - if you buy more than one of these playpens, you can combine them make a rectangle or a huge 2m x 2m square playpen (or even a hexagon if you can get the right joiners). Panels can be used as makeshift barriers. Average quality at best. Screws for the joints are time consuming.Terrible

We had a problem when we were constructing it. One of the screws didn't screw in so we contacted the Jolly Kidz company through their Aust website and they sent an entire new playpen as a replacement. We were so impressed. This is a great company. We are very happy with this playpen because it was inexpensive, it's a good size which has the possibility of extending, and we can see our baby at a glance easily. I would buy other products from this company because I know that they would help me if there were any problems.

Bad
You get what you pay for and this will be going back to the shop. I would highly recommend the quality of the Valco Vee Bee Play Pen and although a slight hassle to regularly put up and down, would definitely recommend.
Quite simple and easy to put together, looks nice.
One of the screws won't go in as it's faulty. I found the cheap plastic push buttons hard to push in to release the corners and as this needs to be put up and down regularly, would not recommend this as the one to buy.
Sent mine back
On getting this item home, I spent ages putting the thing together. Then, within 10 minutes of my 8 month old playing in it, she almost choked on the metal logo badge which had fallen off (along with its rivets). Luckily, I noticed her putting something in her mouth and managed to take it off her in time. On top of this, the paint was already starting to scratch off! Now I dont care if the paint is toxic or not, I dont want my baby eating it!
I returned this playpen to the store within 3 hours of buying it! The quality seems really cheap and ...

OK
I like how easy this playpen is to put together but i dont think it is worth buying as the paint flakes off if the child chews it (which they do as the top is just the right height for a baby to munch). My 10 month old son leaned on it with all his weight and couldnt tip it so i didnt have to worry that he could get hurt by getting out or it falling on him. It wipes clean though i would recommend a plastic, metal or unpainted wood playpen rather than this type.
easy to put together, sturdy, easy to clean
paint flakes off,
