Reliable and comfortable
Purchased because the price was right and it had recently gone to 5 year warranty. Have not had to use the warranty to date. Drives well and fits lots in the boot with the fold down back seats. A bigger boot than it looks from the outside. Previous vehicles I have owned had an audible low fuel warning and I often get low on fuel before I realize the light is on. Pretty good fuel consumption on the highway - as low as 6.4 l/100 km - but around 9.2 l/10 km around town. Have only had one service to date as low kms traveled. Have avoid the non-compulsory interim services which the local dealer tries to 'sell'.
Reliable, well priced.
Would have preferred an audible low fuel reminder as well as the warning light.

Value
After doing some research, it is the most powerful and most fuel efficient 2L out there... Plus the 6sp manual is a bonus compared to the Hyundai i30... Plenty of power and goes 110 to 120km/h easily and is good on fuel... Averages 7L to 100km, both city and country driving... Plus the 5 year unlimited km warranty.
Inexpensive

2010 Kia Cerato TD MY10 Koup
Honestly, the worst car I ever bought, sold it not quickly enough and lost 13 grand only after having it for a year. Shocking depreciation. Bad road handling, too much road noise even on smooth roads, suspension is too rough and none responsive and far from precise, too hard, sluggish and often slides off the road even if there's a small rock under the tires, useless when it comes to corners, definitely far from the sport car, huge disappointment. Needed a full wheel alignment and balance only after 3 months. I was in a mad rush when I bought t...Read more
he Koup and haven't researched enough. Deeply regret it. My driver’s seat had fully collapsed after 6 months and I weigh only 70kg, replaced under warranty. The car was off road for 7 weeks due to insurance issues. The slick and stylish exterior is very deceiving, I got sucked into it by the hot blond looks. Terrible manual gearbox, impossible to get used to, needs a shift of power from 1st & 2nd and more power to 3rd and 4th. 1st gear is too long, very touchy/feely, clutch is too deep and springs back too fast hitting your foot on the retreat. The gear box is pre-historical. With all the hype about the Koup, it's a good example of a bad investment. KIA is still just KIA, hardly any improvement. The usb/ipod connectivity doesn't work half the time and doesn't recognize most files. Exterior paint is truly cheap and has been chipping off from the word go. Could have made a better use of 115kw of DOHC power. Interior rubber seals on both doors and a boot have already fallen apart and needed replacing. Engine is too noisy and screams strangely in the 2nd gear. You pick this up after a few weeks of wearing it in. Korean made, The Cerato is a massive downfall. 5 year warranty is definitely handy and will be used up to the max. Don't let the slick good looks deceive you, it's poorly made and cheaply designed car. Even Proton would be a better choice though I wouldn’t recommend it. It only looks good Pre-historical gearbox, bad road handling, cheaply made, terrible suspension, shocking steering, it’s gimmicky and deceiving, engine is a dive3 comments
I have a Kia Cerato Koup 2011. I was a motor mechanic all my working life. Love the Koup, I do not want it as a race car, as it is not one, the 6 speed manual gearbox is very smooth & clutch is far ... Read more
better than the early Cerato sedan 4 speed manual, seats are good on a long trip, is easy on fuel on touring, 6.4 is per 100km is no problem on the hwy . The Hyundai 2ltr engine is smooth and has good torque. For the money I have found it good value.

Kia Cool
Good price after haggling & good looks. Has a slight acceleration lag due to drive buy wire technology. Good interior and range of acc. Heavy doors may be prone to have problems further down the track. Only average quality when receiving phone calls on bluetooth. Overall a good car, despite some minor missgivings.
Good price, good looks, great warranty.
Can have acceleration lag, heavy doors could be problem, rear access not great.

OK
I am not saying I hate this car, as I have had worse, but I wouldn't brag about it either. I am actually thinking I made a mistake buying it and look forward to trading it in next year. For an inner city car it's not good as the jerky gears constantly in the city. Long drives, its great and smooth. I wouldnt say don't buy one, but maybe shop around as there is better for the same price. I guess the room inside the car is what sold me in comparison to others at the same price.
Looks great, gorgeous blue colour, bargain for the price. Is bigger t...Read more

Good
The Cerato sedan is a double-edged sword. It's under-rated, which makes it cheap to buy, but that also affects its resale value. However, if you are going to hold on to it for a while, that doesn't matter and you get to take advantage of a 2-litre that is as good as a Ford, Holden, Toyota or Mitsubishi. It seats five adults comfortably.
Affordable, comfortable, four-door sedan. As spacious inside, and in the boot, as any of its competitors.
Under-rated brand, so the resale value might not be as high. But it's a small price to pay.

Indicator with slippery sign next to steering wheel on right side . it might be ESP (Electronic Stability Programme) Indicator*
(Also known as Electronic Stability Control (ESC))
The ESP (Electronic Stability Program) is an electronic system designed to assist the driver in maintaining vehicle control during adverse conditions. ESP checks where you are steering and where the vehicle
is actually going and applies the brakes on individual wheels as well as intervening in the engine management system to stabilise the vehicle. Factors such as speed, road conditions and steering effort can all affect the effectiveness of ESP. When the ignition switch is turned to the ON position, the ESP indicator will illuminate and then go off after a few seconds. The ESP Indicator will blink when the system is activated according to the driving condition.
If the ESP indicator is constantly illuminated, a malfunction with the ESP system is indicated. If this occurs have your vehicle checked by your nearestdealer
ESP (Electronic Stability Programme) Off Indicator*
(Also known as Electronic Stability Control (ESC))
During certain driving conditions you may want to turn the Electronic Stability Program (ESP) off . When you do need to turn the ESP off, make sure you press the ESP OFF button only when you are driving on
a flat road surface. Never press the ESP OFF button while the ESP is operating as the vehicle may slip out of control. ESP will automatically be turned on after the ignition has been turned off. The ESP OFF indicator will illuminate for a few seconds when the ignition switch is turned to the ON position and then go out.
The ESP OFF indicator will illuminate when the ESP system has been turned off. If the ESP OFF indicator remains illuminated after pressing the ESP OFF button again, contact your nearest Kia dealer to have the system checked as there could be a malfunction.

had nothing but very good service from this car. It comes with all the bells & whistles. My previous cars have been A3 Audi & a 320 Bmw. There is nothing wrong with cars handling. The new Cerato was designed by Peter Schaefer from Audi. So now the car must be better than it's fore runners I would not know that seeing that I have not owned a Kia before. My one said this to me though when I bought the car. Dad a year ago you would not have bought this car but since the revamp to me this is a good car. I cannot fault the car.
