How do i get my 21-1 multi cooker out of standby mode? Ive tried everything but unable to get the screen to light up blue
Ruthasked
I purchased the Kogan multicooker a month or two ago and have just gotten around to trying it. Am I missing something? I can't get any display up at all. I have checked that the plug is fully inserted, have tried different powerpoints (all of which work for other appliances) but still nothing happens at all. Is there a switch somewhere that I can't find?
Evieasked
I have just brought my appliance.I just made soup delicious, but recipe called for cooking temp.to be 120deg.,but temp only goes to 100deg on my machine. Is there another setting to make it higher??
1 answer
Select soup function, press cooking temperature, then press"+" until you reach 120. If you can't do that then you must have a newer model than mine. Good luck :)

Hi,
How do you remove detachable lid seal from Kogan 20-in-1 5L Multi Cooker KA5LMLTCKRA?
Thank you.
John
1 answer
I'm sorry, I'm not sure what you mean. The only part of the lid I'm aware is removable is the 2 piece vent, which just pops out when pushed from the inside.

Does this have an 'air fry' function? Or do you need to add oil as when frying traditionally? If it does air frying, I'll definitely buy this device!

I have found up and down but have trouble setting clock time with + and -. also should cooking screen be blue and should heating emblem with steam be on all the time for slow cooking?
1 answer
Hi Alex. To set the clock press "clock", then use + and - to get correct (military) time. The blue screen is just standby, if you have the cooker plugged in but aren't cooking. Red is cooking and green when cycle is done. The heating emblem with steam and a circle in the middle is on all the time when cooking no matter what. The steam emblem alone without circle means "keep warm". Hope this helps.

Slow cooking roast beef to shared what temperature should it be on if your cooking for eight hours? my old one you just put it on high or low feeling confused
1 answer
The pre-programmed cycle for slow cooking runs for 2½ hours at 105C. For most things I used to cook in my crock pot for 8 hours, the shorter time actually works pretty well. But trial and error taught me to set the heat at 95C. The multi function cooker seems to be hotter than it indicates. Hope that helps and good luck!

Does anyone have any good recipe ideas for babies with this Kogan multi function cooker. Thanks
3 answers
Hi Alice.
The best I can recommend is
Go onto Google.
type in - multifunction cooker recipes
click into "1000+ideas about multi cooker questions and answers'
Although I did not find any recipes for babies at a glance there is a lot of information there.

Hi Alice,
Thank you for your question.
We have a good selection of recipes on pages 10 onward in the user manual.
You can see these here, the oatmeal porridge on page 20 may be worth a look: https://assets.kogan.com/files/usermanuals/KACKR4LMLTA-A.pdf
You're not supposed to cook babies.
TONCYasked
can I set the time manually?
3 answers
Yes, you can set the time manually as well as the temperature.
Thank you TONCY. I will try once again. Where as I like the cooker, to sell such an item without a cook book and basic instructions is not the best.
'Kogan' has not answered the many complaints on lack of clear cooking instruction. They should thank the many other owners like yourself for doing their job
Ross x.Kogan
Hi Tony,
Thank you for your question.
The time and temperature can be set with the "Cooking Time" and "Cooking Temperature" functions, you'll see the controls to adjust these up and down either side of those two buttons.
For further details, you can refer to page 6 of the following link: https://assets.kogan.com/files/usermanuals/KACKR4LMLTA-A.pdf

Can I cook chow Mein? What setting should I use? John
2 answers
Honestly, I have no idea John. It's all hit & miss as far as I've been able to determine. There isn't a setting for chow mein. That's about all I can say for sure, I'm sorry.
Mince beef and Julian vegetables cooked on stew setting for 1 hour. Finely sliced cabbage then added and cooked for a further 5 mins. Salt and pepper to your taste. Served on a bed of basmati rice. Very good.
Susanasked
When I cook stews normally, about 20 minutes before serving I make dumplings and put them in the pot for the last 20 minutes how would I go with this, does anyone know? thanks
2 answers
Like you I must have dumplings for the last 20 minutes.. When ready for dumplings, try changing heat to saute/brown or cake bake, don't lock lid down? If this does not work, transfer stew to another pot then cook for the 20 minutes. Better that than miss the dumplings.
Seriously KOGAN -you must know by now you have a lot of 'multi function cooker' owner's out here that have been let down by the lack of information on using this cooker. Aside of this, I love the cooker. Just wish I was an engineer.
Thank you Trish, I did cook a stew the other night, and when it came time for the dumplings I just dropped them in the pot but did not put the lid back on, the stew itself was already cooked and ready to go, the dumplings and stew came out great, must admit I'm still a little nervous on using the cooker, but I'm sure that will ease with practice. Are there any kogan recipe groups that cater to vegetarian cooking?
1 answer
???? Kogan does not have any recipe to my knowledge. If so, I would also like them.
Otherwise, I actually like the Multi Function Cooker and seem to produce some decent meals, but it is all by guessing.
Myra27, I will follow just in case you get someone that has your answers.

Hi can anyone tell me what temperature needs to be set if the recipe calls for slow cooker low/high setting. Im sure there is a standard temperature guide that kogan would have? Also temperature/time guide for cooking basmati rice as the preset is for 110 degree celsius for 60 mins which is way too long. The manual is useless and super confusing especially the bits about cooking temperature.
4 answers
Totally agree with you. Unfortunately, I think whoever calculated the cooking times as set in the 'manual' has never cooked anything. Even the pressure cooking time is far to long for a pressure cooking action.
I think KOGAN should take a serious look at this 'manual', and send out a real 'user manual and cookbook'.
I did cook rice, turned out beautifully, except for the thick layer stuck to the base? Patricia
Hi trish thanks for replying. I just feel the very purpose of a multi cooker is defeated here if you are guestimating cooking times or temperature. You cannot just leave the cooking to this cooker if you follow the guidelines on manual. I would be very worried if i would have to preset meal cooking to be cooked and run errands. God knows what will i come back to. With regards to the rice i had to rely on my estimation and shut off the cooker after 10 mins to ensure the rice was not burnt.with the basic rice cooker i did not have to do this exercise at all.
I have used this item as a slow cooker and just used the slow cook button and it was fine. I don't understand the recipes in the manual, I don't like any of them anyway, so I am just going on other recipes. I don't bother with cooking rice as I live alone and it is not worth it. I would like a better recipe manual, preferably with a wider choice of recipes.
Val.

Are there any recipes for the cooker?
Frank
2 answers
Hi Frank,
The recipes are pretty limited around 12 I think. I use the cooker the same way I would cook on the stove, slow cooker and pressure cooker.
The beauty of it is that you can control your own temperatures and times which is a bonus compared to many other multi cookers.
For myself, I use it on an average 3 times a week and only 2 days ago I cooked slow cooker lamb shanks and they were delicious and perfect.
Good luck

Hi
Does this come with a basket for frying chips couldn't see a picture and instructions aren't clear ?
And does the bowl come out so you can clean it?
2 answers
Hi Trudi,
No, it doesn't come with a basket for frying chips. It has a steaming basket, 2 spoons and a rice cup. It is very easy to clean and yes the bowl is removable and an excellent non stick one at that.
Hope this helps.

Does Kogan Multi Function Cooker keep food warm after the slow cooking cycle is complete? If so for how long?
1 answer
Hi HannaG,
Yes the cooker will enter warm mode and as far as I can tell it will keep food warm for some time. I have had mine keep warm for an hour so it could be even more time if allowed.
Hope this helps.
