KL71 Mud tyres with manners
I have read several reviews here and had to laugh at a couple of the negatives issued by those who blame tyres for their own lack of maintenance / ignorance. We ( a 4WD group ) are running several sets of these on a variety of popular IFS & Live axle mid/ full size 4WDs. We are consistently seeing the same thing! - QUIET as in much less noise on road than many A/T's out there. Fantastic wet/dry weather grip on the bitumen for a M/T, Excellent traction in all terrains off road particularly deep mud / clay. Great on sand with lowered pressures. E...Read more
xcellent tread + sidewall puncture resistance. We are seeing consistent long service life between 60,000 - 120,000km average !! We run them on a number of vehicles simply because they WORK!! Many of us have purchased replacement sets or changed to KL71's after running other competitive tyres so aside we know these are very good value for money. The only negative barely worth mentioning is the usual reduced road holding when cornering hard on the road which is quite normal for a dedicated heavy lug Mud Terrain tyre. Good value tyre
Almost gone through 2 sets of these now. Good off-road tyre, can't hear them on the road over a straight through exhaust. Wear really well, I've gotten well over 50000km each set, they don't loose chunks off them driving on the bitumen either as someone mentioned. I've done sidewall damage before to one, but that wasn't the tyres problem

Nice mud tyre, quiet on the road.
These tyres look great. They have lots more traction than the AT tyres I had. They are quiet enough, although I don't have many kms on them yet. They are directional so when rotating they can only be swapped between front and back on the same side. Cornering ability is reduced compared with the AT tyres I had, but this is to be expected with the more aggressive tread pattern.

18000 klm and there 3/4 worn
285/75/16 Good when new but I found they wear quickly on a 79 series dual cab cruiser the truck has had a wheel alignment when we got them new and they have been rotated at 8oooklm on them. Thats 4wding and road, finding the lugs are cracking and the grip level has dropped right off. I will try something else next set.

Loud when worn
Firstly I have driven a Jeep Wrangler with these on and they had around 50% tread left, they were VERY noisy and VERY bumpy. That being said, I just bought a set for my Landcruiser because they supposedly have excellent wet road grip and have self cleaning treads. I bought these specifically to use in mud and on hilly soft terrain. I have run into problems before with other tires where the treads get full of clay and just turn into a racing slick... that seems literally impossible with the tread design of these KL71's as they push clay out the ...Read more
sides rather than in towards the center of the tire. They are almost like the design of the Simex Extreme Trekkers but more road friendly. So far they are VERY quiet, no vibrations, nothing, same as my all terrains. I do expect them to get much louder as they wear but that is fine, I need the grip. You may need two spares because they are directional tires.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

i was very impressed. 80 series landcruser KL71
i just but these on Kuhmo KL71 285/75/16 and i'm very impressed. i drove across the cape from kowanyama to cairns on them yesterday, the 1st 200 k were in a storm and and on wet gravel and mud at 38psi was a bit slippery on the newly topped gravel.but ate the mud for breakfast. once i got to the dry high speed dirt and gravel. they were fantastic. bends where i'd normally be tip toeing round and tailing out at 70kph i was taking at 90 with ease and holding firm. when i got to cairns it was raining again but going down the kuranda range was like...Read more
driving in the dry; on the trip back 1 dropped my tyre pressure to 28psi when i got to the wet gravel and what i found slippery earlier in the day, i had no trouble with. easily the best tyre i've ever had or driven on off road or on a 4wd on roadSimilar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!
Not bad but not happy with mileage
Brought a set of five 305/70/16 mts for my 80 series cruiser after being on a set of hankook 265/70/16 which was very happy had 55000km on when I pulled them off with still 20% tread left whereas these Kuhmos have only done 20 k and looking about half worn good all round although now very noisey no good on sand as they just wanna dig but we found them good in wet just dissaponted in being a softer compound and wearing quicker I did get them at the right price thru a friend though think next time going back to a hankook At

good cheap all round tyre
Great everyday tyre for my hilux that handle really well on road in the wet and dry, and work great off road on weekends. A little noisy under brakes but still less noise then the big name brands you pay a lot more for. As a bonus they look great as well, will be getting another set if these ever wear out
cheap and preform just as good as the big name brands

These tyres are terrible on gravel roads. Driving on gravel road with no load got a small rock stuck in the tyre. Lucky i had tyre repair plugs and a air pump or it would of been a four hour walk home.
Got the tyre repaired the next day $22.00 . The day after that went driving on gravel again got a bigger rock in a different tyre. It took 3 repair plugs in the hole and it was still leaking. Got home. My landcruiser is sitting in my back yard with the tyre flat and im looking for a new set of tyres because im sick of getting them fixed.
bad tyre to soft on gravel road

Good
So far so good, I got 5 x 265/70x17 for the price of 4 in practically any other brand of M/T and in a couple of cases better than $150.00 cheaper "per tyre" than other more talked about brands. I did quite a lot of research before purchasing these tyres and personally I am very happy so far with how they have performed in any situation that I have put them in from the every day commute to the weekend play.
These opinions are mine and I don't wish to sway anyone in any way. I do not and never have worked for this tyre company. I just believe th...Read more

You want BIG and FAT looks, smaller Package then this is it.
These tyres are a little bit of the underdog. They don't really feature very often in glossy 4x4 magazines.
I own a set of 5, 265x70 R17 slightly smaller then 32" in the old measurements. Firstly they are a Big Tyre, secondly they are a little loud on the bitumen and thirdly they are very capable in the dry dusty red dirt of North Queensland. These work and work well for the price. If You shop online for your tyres then you can find them at discounted prices.
Tough looking, aggressive sidewall, versatile all round No Brainer M/T tyre. More Rubber for Your Money
Pay extra for a proper wheel alignment when You fit these tyres. A little annoying with road noise.

i just got these tyres fitted to my 80 series and i think there awsome and i do not have any road noise at all, they drive well and seem to handle well on the road considering there a full mud tyre so i highly recomend them
You wont get a "proper wheel alignment at tyrepower thats for sure. You need to go to a renouned suspension specialist sush as Pedders if you want camber adjustments and so forth, in the tune of $100.... Read more
I am interetsed in these Kuhmo KL71's though... but was told as they are directional, you can olny rotate from front to back on the same side,.. or have them removed off the rim to rotate properly..:/Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

y are a great all round tyre. I've done 45,000 on them now and still have 45% left I'm confident they will go 60,000 if I continue to rotate every 10,000. I wouldn't buy a mickey after having these.
