Magnificent car
The best car I have ever owned, by miles. The auto transmission is smooth as silk and the fact that it locks into top gear (8th) and stays there, makes it beautiful for touring, unlike the Toyota 4wd’s that chop and change gears.
The 600nm of torque make towing a breeze, and the fuel economy is amazing.
On top of that, the interior noise is almost non existent.
A superb car.

Fuel Gauge never worked since new and Land Rover won’t fix it
Fuel gauge never worked from new, when parked on mild slope! Say they will fix it every service and haven’t. Now say it’s normal to not work if parked on a mild slope!!! Avoid Land Rover!!!!! If you have a problem, they will not fix it even though it’s a $70000 car.

D4 HSE 2014 Update
Its an excellent vehicle - tows brilliantly, powerful, very easy to steer compared to 200 Series Toyota, touch screen is great and the car feels as if its designed by individuals rather than committees.
I write though to say that all the 3 litre diesels have twin turbos, not just the "SD" variants. The difference is in the Turbos themselves. While I love the power, and it is handy when towing to have a lot more KW, the premium for the engine is probably a false economy. However the interior upgrades I find very useful - the sat nav is terri...Read more
fic. I think a reversing camera (standard on all I think) is mandatory. The headlights on mine are bright but you can always add spot lights. The main reason I bought at HSE was because of the seats - beating short from my waste up, I raise the seat a little bit - and I have long legs, so I move the seat back. On the standard TDV6 seats, that leave a hole in the small of your back. So I needed the more adustable seats. Which are very comfortable indeed. I tow a 2.5 tonne van - an Australian Off Road Matrix. I cruised at 110 coming back for SheepYard Flat to Melbourne, and got 10 litres per 100 KM (actually a bit less on the computer). If I cruise at 96KMH (which is 100 on the speedo) I get around 13 litres per 100 KMH - on the computer. So more like 13.4. If I cruise slower, I will get around 12 litres/100m, and if I cruise at 106 (110 on the speedo) I will get high 14s. But if I am climbing, then the fuel economy increases. When I got that 10/litre per 100KMh, I was decending - Sheepyard Flat is in the hills (near Mt Bulla) and also, a good wind must have been behind me!! I don't have many negatives on the D4. Probably the only negative is that the fuel tank is a bit small. My van though can carry 80 litres of diesel - but many remove the underneath tyre and put a second tank in. However that is only good IMO if you are "On the Road" all time ... I am not. The trailer parking when in reverse, is quite outstanding - I can reverse up to the van, step out and drop the van straight onto the tow bar. The only issue with the rear camera, is that its not directly above the tow bar - so you have to place the tow bar (which is visible when the camera automatically crops into the close up view when you get close to the van) to slightly one side of the van's tow tongue. Detaching is a piece of cake.

Awesome car and looks great. WENT on TRIP....Amazing
This company has proved that they make really good cars in a reasonable price ranges. I bought a car for my dad and he has been really happy with it.
The display is amazing and battery life is fair for the price. The mileage and looks is also very nice.
overall great experience and love the leather

Awesome vehicle
Having done 76,000km so far i can honestly say the driving experience is fantastic. Extremely comfortable (its like driving a leather recliner lounge chair around), quiet and effortless to drive. Plenty of power, great vision via the large windows and 7 seats makes this vehicle a top choice. Heaps of room in the cabin and plenty of space in the back for storage (I've got an Engel fridge mounted in mine with heaps of space left for other stuff). Mine has been very reliable and it's not too thirsty depending on your driving style.

Best car I've ever owned
This is a big heavy car but once you understand the mass it carries, this is an amazingly versatile vehicle. You feel the weight on corners, it shifts and carries its momentum but you get used to it. The only thing I don't like about it is the extremely slow infotainment system, and the DVD movie player is next to useless. We use it for touring into remote parts of Australia, we regularly refer it to as the luxury motel on wheels. It's an easy vehicle to devour the kilometers on the freeway, yet handles the rough stuff in comfort - devours poth...Read more
oles and handles corrugations with aplomb. The 8 speed ZF has low enough ratio to pull the vehicle up fair steep inclines, so much so, I sometimes forget to put it into low gear - yet it easily cruises on the freeway and returns around 8.5l/100kms loaded with gear. Some recommendations, stick with the higher profile tires, otherwise the ride can get rough. The navigation is cumbersome, super slow and expensive to update, take that into account. We easily manage below 9l/100kms on tour fully loaded with a roof box. The cruise control on the Discovery is much better than the cruise control implementation on the RR Evoque, and so is the tuning of the gearbox. It easily handles changes in incline, not hesitating to change gears. And reliability, not an issue, not a single problem with it at all. Amazing car, I am always looking forward to driving it.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!
More than I expected
Tried 18 different vehicles. Never thought of the Discovery until my wife suggested I try one. Immediately impressed and bought on order. Took 4 months to delivery but has surpassed all expectations. Did the 4WD program and now know what it and the German cars can do. The quality level is now superior and having had all the German cars previously will not bother with them for the time being. We will see what the service is like soon but better be at least as good as the Germans have been.

Great car, ticks all the boxes for a family and the dog
Nervous buying this car after a shaky experience with the old Freelander. Chalk and cheese really, the Diesel engine is amazingly capable (with Sdv6 giving much more oomph than the TD) and I still need to ease off the pedal to stop myself taking off like a Formula 1 freak. The driving position is superb with excellent field of view, you truly do sit on top of the world, but one forgets to lower to access height at the end of the journey and if you are short like me, it's Kilimanjaro all the way down! HSE memory seating is fab as my partner is t...Read more
he opposite & needs leg room etc, touch of a button fixes that. Proximity sensor handy for not having to fudge about trying to find keys, but not too clever if we forget to 'undo' it & lock keys in surfer padlock on car...the boot stays unlocked! The 7 seats are all spacious, no cramped passengers at back. Isofix bars great for secure baby seat attachment. And then it goes off road...Snowy Mountains here we come! Oh & 2016 models don't say discovery 4, just Discovery on the back...just in case you're looking for the 4 under the car, it hasn't fallen off!Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Great Vehicle
Traded in our t&^%ta for this. The 3.0 litre is awesome plenty of power. Interior is comfortable with leather seats all round. Air con is brilliant and chills on a 40+ days. Economical on the fuel too. Easy to park with the rear camera and sensors front and rear. height adjustable suspension makes light work of shopping centre car parks or that heavily rutted bush track.
everything works, it only goes back to the dealer for service unlike our last car.
Nothing except the mrs drives it more than me.

if your 3 pax suffer from arthritis and spinal injuries and limited mobility i would suggest they stay home. Your call but either the defender or disco would be a good choice. depends where you are too.

ucj is being revealed. Both may end up being better buys than anything on offer now. Either could be sharing a platform with the new Rangey Sport and if the new ones offer similar ground clearance and wading ability, they will be very useful vehicles indeed. If one can still fit high profile 16" or 17" tyres, even the better, as this is what can be bought out there should one lose a tyre. Hopefully, at least one model will have solid axles and proper mechanical diff-locks. An interesting observation: on motoring forums around the globe, LR comes in for endless brand bashing yet it outsells the competition many times over. LR also gets very high ratings on this forum, much more than the (un)reliable Jap brands. As Australia has long distances, dust, rocks, sand and weather conditions similar to much of Africa, it always is interesting to see what owners experience. We even import Australian-configured vehicles from Toyota as our own Toyota products are more suited to Europe than anywhere else.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Best car I have owned
Hi, I upgraded cars from a dual cab hilux to a Range Rover Sport. Whilst this car was fantastic, the lack of space for my growing family had me looking at larger options. I assessed all in the category of large SUVs with 7 seats and came to the conclusion that the Disco 4 stood apart in terms of features, comfort, off road ability and load carrying.
The SDV6 diesel is fantastic, powerful and quiet and the 8 speed auto is so smooth you can barely tell it's shifting. I love the fact that the interior is very similar to my Range Rover sport ...Read more
which has to be one of the best looking interiors going around. The car is also whisper quiet when driving so is awesome for long roadtrips. The air suspension is very comfortable and raising the car permanently for a 2inch lift (or higher) is as simple as $100 part (Johnson Rods) and doesn't compromise the feel of the car. The split tailgate is also fantastic and is so much more practical than the single tailgate as per the RRS. It is awesome for loading things and makes things like putting my kayak or paddle board on the roof rails a breeze. The brakes are fantastic for such a heavy vehicle with plenty of feel and stopping power.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!
