Service auto trans and ensure it has the upgrade to replaceable filters. Don’t believe any manufacturer that states something is sealed for life. The ZF trans is brilliant.

We have a 2014 disco which has done 120,000ks. It has everything on it that we want and we love the car...our question is do we sell now and try to find a later model with low ks before its done too many more ks, or keep it forever. Trying to work out the best thing to do economically (newly retired)

Brisbane City Landrover are not the dealership I purchased my 2017 Land Rover Discovery Sport from. I purchased to from BMG in Bundaberg. However my car is currently at Brisbane City Land Rover as they are the ones who have now diagnosed the exhaust leak into my air intake which came about after 10 months of me complaining about toxic fumes in the cabin and others not being able to find it. Aaron there has been able to diagnose it so their mechanics obviously are superior to others. So the service department at Brisbane I can recommend. However it stops there as the issue I have with the car is directly now with Jaguar Land Rover about a car that in all aspects is a major failure. I own a Landrover Discovery Sport 2017 which is now 17 mths old with a new engine replaced in Dec 18, 2 balance shaft replacements, numerous other replacements and an exhaust leak into the air intake for almost 12 months. Just diagnosed after in total being 5 months off the road on and off and yet no diagnosis until now. JLR fighting hard and showing next to no compassion. Think because they have repaired here there and everywhere under warranty they’ve done us a courtesy. They have supplied hire cars all under their warranty conditions. They have done what they have to only. No sorry we didn’t diagnose this early. My family and I including 2 babies under 3 and a pregnant daughter left with carbon monoxide elevated blood levels. I’ve had been hospitalised for a week with stroke symptons and have peripheral neuropathy which are all linked to carbon monoxide exposure. Our Gp backing it. We have no other products that could release carbon monoxide. We have been complaining of toxic fumes in cabin since May 18. Now due to repairs being carried out before we could get a carbon monoxide emissions test they are now saying we’ve fixed it (replaced leaking turbo) so take your car back. We have asked for old turbo to go back in for testing which they said they’ll do at their cost but now making unreasonable requests before testing that really will make any testing a waste of time. I’m damn angry and absolutely drained after almost 3 years straight dealing with a lemon car. What are the chances? I have to say that I thought Jeep were tough but they did do the right thing in the end albeit at a lesser value but JLR to date are showing a lack of compassion more than anything I expected. I truly hope they do the right thing but so far they are just wiping us with comments about doing the right thing as per their warranty in regard to component replacements. I am going to fully expose them and release all my private medical information while doing so if I do not get a full refund/ replacement and apology/compensation for all of this stressful experience. Sometimes you just have to expose these companies so the public are aware of where they may stand if they find themselves in a similar position to me.

Is there alternative to copper washers under the injectors in es td5 discovery?? Because copper and aluminium react, the aluminium head on the discovery is the looser in that battle, from that destroys the motor!

Hi Paul, no not this particular problem, our was a fault with the starter key . Our car would start at all. It would lock and unlock itself for no apparent reason. They totally stripped our car and had to test everything single wire in the car. After many weeks they found the problem, but couldn’t order the part as it wasn’t on their parts list. So instead of calling England to order part they took it out of another new disco. Can’t really understand their logic, but 9 weeks later we have our car back and thankfully it hasn’t missed a beat,YET. Maybe a call to fair trading or consumer protection. Good luck

I have a Discovery 3. Only now at 192XXX Km's had i got problems. I would be asking for a refund or threaten with Legal Action. Contact Consumer Law, because it's you right to get what you pay for and not a Lemon. Before you contact the dealer, don't forget to give your nastiest review of what you bought, the grief it's given you and how you have had to waste so much time trying to sort your issues. When your review upsets their sales, you will be heard! Nasty as it is, you don't have time to waste, as you have already wasted money buying it!

Yes, will be putting it out there, to warn other people, in the process of accc, and consumer affairs. Manufacturers of cars should be held accountable, like everyone else

There could be many reasons Craig.
I suspect the water is impacting an electrical connection somewhere and causing this.
If it is petrol, check your ignition system is up to spec as a small amount of water in the right place could prevent a strong spark and cause misfire on at least some cylinders.

Fuel filter change out how many kms? Land Rover 2002 td5 auto

I had a TD5 HSE for a few years and always changed my fuel filter at about 20,000 km. If your fuel is 100% clean from reputable City pumps, you could extend it to 30,000, but if you are traveling in the bush or using fuel from Jerry cans, definitely every 20,000 km.
I know they aren't cheap here, but you can buy genuine parts on the internet from various Land Rover suppliers in the UK.

I am thinking about buying a disco 4 with a full service history from Land Rover and one owner from new, it has 275000 kms on it but it drives like a new car any advice???

Hi Johnny,
As an avid Land Rover owner for as many years as I can count. You don't mention if this is petrol or diesel, if it's diesel I would suggest you may have a good deal, but would suggest getting the air suspension checked over and the auto gearbox by Land Rover.
If you are buying it through a Land Rover dealer, they should be able to sell you an extended warranty, which in my opinion could be worthwhile option as it generally covers all of the mechanical parts except of course brake linings, tyres and fan belts etc.
Also worth checking is when the cam-belt was replaced as it needs replacing at around 200,000km. Don't buy it if it hasn't been replaced, or get it done ASAP.
Good luck with your purchase, it sounds like it should be a good buy.
Cheers Harry.

Keep walking and looking !.
Most modern cars will have a mechanical life of 250,000 to 400,000km’s. 250km’s for the small parts like an air-con compressor $2000 or alternator $1500 etc etc and the 400km’s for the engine @ $15k approximately depending on the model - but who would spend that much on parts or an engine rebuild when the car is 75% through its disposable life span.
Good luck
