Overall, good product
OK, there seems to be quite a polarised review opinion out there, perhaps partly due to divided consumer expectations, but also tending to suggest there may be an unreliable build quality on this machine.
My experience with this machine is absolutely excellent, does a great wash if you take the effort to understanding wash programming options.
It's true that the machine does tend to tangle clothes, but that has been my experience with every top loader I've owned over the years.
I'm 70 now so I've seen a few, but this LG has done a better job than many.
Only criticism is that cleaning the lint filters is fiddly and a bit of a pain in the bum.
My overall rating out of 10 is a solid 8, would I but another, absolutely YES

Perfect
I am using this machine for now 3+ years. I really like how it cleans and rinse the laundry. This machine gives you option to customise according to your laundry weight and type. I like the tub clean and tub dry option. The machine is not noisy. i will recommend LG washing machine to others

Always trust L.G
i have been using L.G for the last 10 years, and i found it is quite reliable for the washing machine. I have never compared with other brands, but I am happy with L.G Washing machine's performance, as there is no issue at all. plus special offer in June at Binglee. Trust me, a good and reliable brand!

Stay away from LG
For the first year it was ok. Even though I used the clean tub cycle regularly, the sheets were all covered in lint. A few pieces of clothes were damaged, the machine broke down every year-first there was a motor failure, then it leaked a few times and now it literally broke down-the bottom part of the drum just fell off mid cycle damaging clothes, leaving water inside and this is a couple of weeks after I had a technician to fix the leak! LG team are not supportive, they just said they were sorry-that's all!!! When the machine has water stuck in it the only way you can drain it is to use a scoop! Will never go with LG again.

This needs a design review.
LG, top loader, 5.5kg, Inverter, Direct Drive, 10 year Warranty and a lid where part of it folds down giving a smaller space above where a dryer might be situated.
Model WT-H550
The salesperson said that the green circles inside were part of the filter system to dispose of the fluff that is produced by the washing and never had to be emptied, as the fluff went down past this and was then washed out of the machine as they had been taught to say when selling the product. The filter when not cleaned out leaves that unmistakable dirty, st...Read more

Warm wash = warm rinse too!!! Avoid.
There are many reasons to dislike this product.
If you do a warm wash it will also do a WARM RINSE - this is the craziest idea ever! Seriously who would think this is even something you need to consider when purchasing a machine? This sadly means it is not a "set & forget" machine because we have to stand around waiting for it to fill up with warm water so we can turn off the hot tap.
It is SLOW. For example if you turn it on just for a 7 minute spin cycle and press start, it says there are 12 MINUTES remaining!!! Where do the extra 5...Read more
minutes come from? There are also a lot of long pauses between each cycle, adding to the overall wash time We avoid all the silly wash modes and simply go with "Favourite" every time so we can manually control our own wash. WHY WHY WHY can't it default to Favourite whenever I turn it on? WHY do I have to press Program 5 TIMES to get to Favourite? This is very poor product design with little thought for the end user in mind. Finally, all the dainty little spinning back and forth during the wash mode is simply a laugh. It's like it can't make up it's mind so it does these tiny little back & forth spins, pauses for a while, a couple more slow tiny spins, a big spin, hmm what next, how about another pause for a while, you get the picture. It looks like its all too much for it to contemplate and would rather have a nice little rest instead. Can't wait for it to die so we can replace it, am put off from purchasing LG ever again.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!
Do not buy this machine
Do not buy this machine!! As the other reviews have stated: Brown scum left on cloths, Cloths are ripped after washing, Cloths knotted up in balls at the end of the wash. Yes we did used the tub wash cycle, made no difference cloths would come out dirtier than when they went in!!

horrible
This is easily the worst washing machine that I have ever used in my life. It not only doesn't clean the clothes but also leaves laundry detergent scum over everything no matter how many different ways you try to use it.
When washing the clothes, it requires me to wash everything twice to get all of my clothes clean; if not done, things such as panties and gym clothes come out no better than when they went in. This is two cycle of hot, heavy wash with extra soak giving a total washing time of approximately 3 hours. Not really acceptable!

Excellent, couldn't be happier with it!
This machine is absolutely everything I need! It cleans and rinses my clothes exceptionally well, all of my clothes have remained in a near new state with wearing out only coming from wear, it works quietly - I forget I've got it on until it beeps at the end of the cycle! The features are great - 10 different water levels, perfect for people like me who live alone and sometimes only need to wash 3 or 4 items of clothing.

Disgusted
This machine is a nightmare, puts gunk through your washing used sparingly by two elderly people - no work clothes filters cleaned after every use. Today we have spent 3 hours and $30 worth of citric acid vinegar and Sodium bicarbonate to no avail, I wish I could add a photo.

The worst purchase I have ever made
This machine leaves brown gunk on all of my clothes, LG is less than helpful, I have regularly done the tub clean, I have done the packet of bicarb and the 2 dishwasher tablets dissolved in hot water as advised by the company. This has been to on effect at all, I spoke to them this afternoon they now say that every week I need to do a large dummy hot water load with no clothes and a whole carton of citric acid. I have never heard of anything so ridiculous. I think that we should all take a class action against this useless product and dare I say obnoxious company who are not helpful.

Pricey but good
Update: It's now 2022, and it's still going strong, no problems. I expect this machine to last many more years.
Back in 2015 I got mine on gumtree, near new for $450.
A few things I've noticed:
* The lint filters work but are sometimes difficult to open and clean out. Design of little tabs in filters could have been more user friendly. Not a big deal.
* The "Air Dry" feature is useless. A stupid marketing copycat feature. The word "dry" is misleading. After an hour on air-dry, your clothes will still be damp. NOT worth the energy used to do that. Just hang your washing inside.

Has limitations
WARNING - this machine uses WARM water for the RINSE cycle. I have never heard of a machine that uses warm water to rinse. You can't change it - I have asked LG. If you choose to do a warm wash then you get a warm rinse! I have never heard of anything so ridiculous - it is so wasteful. If you do a cold wash then you can turn off the hot tap, so your rinse will be cold, but if you need to do a warm wash you have no way of forcing it to do a cold rinse.
There is nothing in the manual that tells you this - and who would think to ask before buying...Read more

Follow-up on previous review
In my last review, I said that this washer was great provided that you didn't use the Fuzzy cycle. After talking with a technician, it turned out the problem was not the machine, but the stupid manual; the trick is to program the machine in three steps: 1. Switch it on; 2. Set the program (Fuzzy, whatever); and then lastly 3. Change other settings to suit your mood. Bingo! The best washer ever! Just NEVER EVER change the program after changing another setting.

Rubbish machine - doesn't was the clothes
My wife and I have had this machine for just over 18 months now. It has never worked properly. Clothes come out all tangled up, and with stains still on them. I have had to throw out several work shirts because stains have not come out and even after all the products in the world be sprayed on them, the machine seems to somehow lock in the stain on the shirt. Our sheets come out with washing powder insdie them all clumped together, so the powder is obviously not dissolving properly. The machine has always functioned, but it has never cleaned ou...Read more
r clothes properly. I can't see myself buying LG again.... My brother bought the same washing machine a few months earlier than we did. He ended up selling his on Gumtree for cheap because he had the same annoying wash issues.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!
I did want to smash it to bits but a tech solved the problem
I used this machine about six times. the last time, I put on a load at 10 am and finally it finished at 5pm. It spent time slowly spinning and doing little. I couldn't get it to move to the next phase. It tangled all of the contents and ripped a sheet. It did this with a small load and a larger load. It doesn't put enough water in. It displayed an error notice frequently and stopped washing or whatever it was up to. The tech told me that the extension outlet pipe i had used was too small a diameter so I used a larger one which cured those problems. The 'quick wash' is incorrectly named. It is a 'light wash' suitable for two pairs of sox and undies. So you can't add water to it.

Dont buy unless you love ironing!
I posted comments on this machine at the end of someone else's review but I am so mad coming in from the clothes line I need to ventilate with my own review. Believe the reviews that say this machine twists clothes into knots so tight that you will spend hours ironing - I even have to iron clothes such as tshirts and shorts that I would just wear around the neighbourhood. Cotton, linen - OMG - tight creases that require serious, old style back to the 6-s ironing to uncrease, spray, steam - I have even had to resort to fabric spray which I detes...Read more
t. If you contact LG they will firstly tell you it is about the brand of detergent - and then say to put more water in ... brand of detergent? - this has to be a joke and I bought an automatic machine so it could be just that - automatic. In desperation I tried the highest water level for a medium wash but this does not make any substantial difference to the twisting action - and why should I have to do this in any case as it makes the energy and water efficiency ratings redundant. Really unless you want to take your your favourite blouse or pants - soak them and then twist them about 10 times as hard as you can, then scrunch then scrunch them into a ball, dry them and spend an hour ironing - steer clear. ..after a little over 12 months - this busy woman is so fed up I am about to buy something else. twists clothes into tangled balls, no ready programmed gentle cycle, LG even recommends that you use more water than their own fuzzy logic program suggests1 comment

Loved your review, and share your pain, though from a 'Haier' ball twisting washing(not) machine - hope you let us know if you found a better machine, as I'm replacing mine too (after 2 years of similar hell) thx
